I will admit i had only two months to research and plan for this unexpected trip. I was certainly not familiar with such little time, but I did my best. The greed there just seems like it hits at a higher level. No shame what so ever.

Guaranteed connecting rooms, that will come to $40 each night. We didn't have a mini bar in our room, but some of the hotels that do will charge you $50 if you unplug the one that they have placed in your room.
Is it greed or is it capitalism? Also, there are expenses to businesses with ever piece of behavior, request, action from their guests.
Although likely not at the expense of $40 for connecting rooms, hoteliers do have costs associated with making that happen for you. There are computer programs that can do room assignments but they need human intervention for special requests. It is not always quick to shuffle rooms around to honor the many requests that they receive.
For the minibar, if stocked and you unplug it, $50 is not unreasonable as the candy, soda, and other items that change with temperature may have to be replaced. The next guest is not going to want a Hershey bar that has turned white because of going from hot to cold to hot to cold. Ever had a flat coke from a can that was just opened. It likely was cooled and then warmed up.
There is labor involved in blowing up that pool float you mentioned in another post. Also, the added labor of fishing the ones out that are left in the water.
That resort fee? Added so that the daily rate didn’t have to see such a big increase. They say the fee covers parking (not always), use of pool towels, wifi, etc. but it also covers the common space toilet flushes, wear and tear, etc. This used to all go into the room rate calculation.
Great that you got to go the Sphere!
Would you elect to go back over going to Disney?
