Just wondering if anyone knows the future of DAH? From what I've seen listed, it is only offered in May. Do you think / know if it will be extended into the summer? Is $149 still the price tag? TIA

Looks to be gone.

THIS article comes from The Moltley Fool website, so take it as it is and not something "officially" from Disney.

Nobody knows. The Motley Fool article is simply speculative. DAH may not be "buried". It was a limited run and may be back. So DAH ended it's run. Club Villain will be ending its run next week. Are we to assume that was a money-loser and is being "buried" too? I think not. There could be various reasons why certain events aren't extended and it may not necessarily be that they were unsuccessful.

It depends. Did Club Villain have trouble filling seats? Did they need to give tickets away or mark them down to half price?

Went Thursday night. At 9 pm went to Guest Relations to get tickets. They said that would be $79.88 plus tax each. We were surprised and said what is the AP discount? (we had not inferred we had an AP or anything else). Her response was "This is the price for everyone, there are no discounts now." WOW. I think had they done that to begin with they would have had a much different response.

Was TOTALLY worth it to us!!!

I think Club Villain will be back in the fall. I expect more seasonal events like this. DAH - who knows, they truly need to find their price point, the market and then market it!! Guaranteed most guests knew nothing about it.

I don't buy the greed argument as being a legitimate reason why this would fail. Motley Fool wasn't shouting "greed!" with these tours:
  • Sense of Africa tour is $249 pp. for 3.5hrs.
  • Wild Africa Trek is $249 pp for 3 hrs.
It was poorly advertised, and some sources decided to label this greed that hadn't labeled other high-priced items the same way.

I could see this coming back or morphing into something different, perhaps at a slightly lower price point, with more available tickets.

I like a company that EXPERIMENTS!!! Some things will work and some won't. I think it remains to be seen whether they'll endeavor to make this one idea work in the future. Upcharge events are definitely here to stay, however!

I actually found motley fool's point about greed interesting:

"The notion of a $149 pass for three hours of near-exclusive access painted Disney as greedy, and the irony there is that there's a good chance that Disney After Hours wasn't profitable.

Having a couple thousand people paying $50 an hour may seem like a slam dunk, but keep in mind that there are a lot of staffing, utility, and maintenance costs associated with keeping a park open with more than two dozen attractions in operation. Disney may have calculated a modest profit with 5,000 people paying $149, but it's a far different model when you only attract roughly half as many people with many of those paying half as much. "

I think they're probably right that it didn't make a huge profit. And since disney is a business and they seek to make profits, I can see them labeling this current iteration of dah as disappointing. Maybe, like other posters have said, theyll make tweaks and try to make a profitable price more appealing to guests. Or maybe they'll drop the idea. Guess we'll see.

For it to have succeeded, they needed to allow more than just a few hours. Even if there are no lines, there's only so much you can do in 2-3 hours.

I completely agree with this. No one seems to be crying foul over the VIP tours either. I'm just not getting the anger toward this event and the glee over its possible failure.

It's still on the special events page -- just says none are scheduled, and to check back later.

Fox is running the same motley fool article and rebranding it. If you want to know the validity of what he's saying, check out the link at the bottom where he offers a click to 10 stocks that are better than Disney. I think the author of the article saw a chance to make a case for selling Disney stock (with a commission) and buying other stock (with a commission). It's what brokers often do. But he cites no facts, no sources, and no real evidence that the event underperformed. It might have, but other than everyone's personal assumptions, there's no proof of it.

Motley Fool needs to be taken with a mountain of salt. It's that kind of "source" as it relates to JUDGMENT. They can transmit facts like any other outlet can, but I'd watch what opinions from there one chooses to accept as fact.

The reason that they can charge those prices for the AK events is because they are extremely limited, (we are talking an out numbers in the dozens, not thousands), and because you are buying an experience that cannot otherwise be replicated. DAH was nothing more than EMH which people already pay for.

And why do you call DAH an "Experiment", but the villain party is not? And MNSSHP is not? They are all limited time engagements that have a natural season. This simply ended because peak season is upon us and Disney cannot close the MK early and sell back hours when people are already paying maximum dynamic pricing for their vacation. I am not convinced that this is never coming back. But if it does, it will come back in the form of what HopperFan experienced. The $149 price wasn't an experiment. The Epcot After Party wasn't an experiment. And neither was New Coke. And neither was the Edsel. They were simply bad corporation decisions. At least this one can be rectified and perhaps it already has. But calling an error in judgment that has been modified an "experiment" is spin of a galactic nature. By that logic, every single thing that every company ever rolled out and then eliminated was an "experiment". That does disservice to a real experiment under controlled circumstances designed to test a hypothesis. DAH did none of that. Otherwise, variable price points would have been offered to everyone and not just DVC members and AP holders. Cutting prices for them revealed nothing about what average guests would pay. And if one were truly conducting an experiment, one would want to know the answer to that question first and foremost.

It may come back at some point this is true. However if it does, it would probably be revamped and repriced. I don't think any one would deem it successful in it's current form, when they have to give away tickets and sell them to special customers at 1/2 price. Maybe they will try to come back and do something with EMH. They could possibly charge resort guests, or let off-site quests in on he same night for a price?. Who knows...

I don't think anyone could deny this particular event had a lot of negative feedback on these forums. it does seems that the morning program is more successful perhaps.
