I don't buy the greed argument as being a legitimate reason why this would fail. Motley Fool wasn't shouting "greed!" with these tours:
- Sense of Africa tour is $249 pp. for 3.5hrs.
- Wild Africa Trek is $249 pp for 3 hrs.
It was poorly advertised, and some sources decided to label this greed that hadn't labeled other high-priced items the same way.
I could see this coming back or morphing into something different, perhaps at a slightly lower price point, with more available tickets.
I like a company that EXPERIMENTS!!! Some things will work and some won't. I think it remains to be seen whether they'll endeavor to make this one idea work in the future. Upcharge events are definitely here to stay, however!
