Disney 5th Park?

I think both DHS and Epcot need some more work. I would like to see some upgrades to both of those parks before a new park is added. Heck, Tomorrowland needs a facelift, too.

I would really like a fifth park, but I'm not sure they have the support staff to handle it.

At first when I read Chartle response I thought it was spot on, and I still do, at least most of it. There is something to be said for the fact that the way the parks are set up at this time there is no reason to add a 5th park. If it’s going to take away revenue from an already existing park what’s the point? Then I started to think about DVC and how they continue to build. Then I started to think about the new process of being able to get fast passes from home, ETC.. This is my thoughts..

At some point if they continue to grow hotel rooms they may have a capacity issue in the 4 parks. At that time expansion seems reasonable. Next thought which admittedly is a bit far-fetched. Soon enough we will be able to get our fast passes from our computer. Could there every be a time when we are assigned certain days we can go to certain parks? Something like on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays last naming beginning with A-L can go to either park A, B, C. On Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday they can go to park D or E. Again as I write this, it does seem to be way out there. But, crowd control, and how crowds flow from one park to the next has got to be on the minds of Disney. Everything is becoming more streamlined. Who is to say where it stops.

As far as AK goes, I would like to see some aquatics. Yes there is an aquarium at Epcot but give us a dolphin show or something. I would really like my daughters to get a little of what Sea World has to offer without having to go offsite. I do plan on taking them to Sea World within the next couple of years, but if AK had something similar, I wouldn't bother.

Now........THAT is an idea I would love to see come to fruition....:cheer2:

I just don't think that Disney wants to be "that kind of animal park". AK is all about seeing animals, even the Yetti, in as close to their environment as possible.

Also there is a lot baggage that comes with a park like Sea World.

With the Living Seas in Epcot, I don't see them doing that in DAK as well.

They used to have an African Outpost in WS, but that closed down with Africa being an entire land in DAK. So if they added seas to DAK they would probably shut down the tanks in Epcot. Too expensive to do the same stuff in two places.

Even an entire ocean land wouldn't really compete with SeaWorld, anyway.

Disney built DHS and Downtown Disney to compete with Universal, but I don't think they think of Seaworld as any sort of threat.

Actually, it is too bad in a way that Disney doesn't own Seaworld, then they could have it be the 5th Park, integrate it into the transport system somehow (regular buses).

I think thats what everyone was hoping, but I guess InBev wanted to sell SW and BG as a group and not split them up.

At some point if they continue to grow hotel rooms they may have a capacity issue in the 4 parks.

Until the parks start reaching actual capacity on a recurring basis, I doubt Disney sees this as an issue. While we all may prefer the parks to be less busy, I have no doubt they see all sorts of opportunity for more capacity.

A new park is a massive expense. Squeezing more bodies into what's already there is sheer profit.

I agree with the PP's. I don't see a 5th park until they run out of room in the other 4 parks.

TSM is such a mess at opening. They really need another blockbuster to take the pressure off.

I have heard the rumor of the 5th park being somewhat like a Seaworld and they wouldn't necessarily have to build another park they could somehow add it on to Animal Kingdom....But like I said these are rumors only...And a lot of wishful thinking on my part lmao :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

I think DHS needs more rides - both big & little
Epcot - needs more rides & less shops

I guess I really think more rides for all of the parks - big & little in all
you keep building "resorts" - people have to have something to do or they will go someplace else

I think it will be a while before we see a new park at WDW. There is too much that needs to be done and that is already being done at the moment to really mess with it (in terms of the company in general with the latest resort in Hawaii, new ships etc.). They are building a new resort on site, a value one I think, that will help fill that capacity issue that was posted about earlier. Maybe a bit of foreshadowing? ... I made it sound like a book... ha.

I wouldn't rule out a 5th park someday in the future, but don't see it happening anytime soon.

Exactly correct. That is akin to saying "well, the hotels are 60% full most nights, let's build another hotel" or "the restaurant has a wait on Friday nights, let's add more tables".

Also, the hotel rooms that WDW is adding, in my opinion, are more aimed at bringing offsite guests onsite, rather than adding to the total attendance numbers. I'm sure WDW would seek to do both, but more than anything WDW has shown a drive to capture every dollar possible, so when they lose park guests to an offsite resort, I'm sure that bothers them.

I'm sure they will add a fifth park down the road at some point, but I don't think one is needed now, or anytime in the near future, based solely on the number of guests currently in the parks, and the concepts bandied about, i.e. of a thrill-ride park, don't seem to fit Disney Corps.' business strategy, so I don't see how they would fit.
