DISGUSTING! How dare the police do this...UPDATE #70!!!

Please excuse my language...LOL

I doubt the horny kid who thought he could get into her pants with a few joints was arrested.

Well that is what's going to come out at trial. We can have all the doubts we want but we don't know

Read the update, and I have to admit, I was a  person, thinking that geez not another enabler. Glad to see you have your head on straight after all!

Poor kids my foot!

Seriously ... I have no idea if the OP was being serious or not. That statement certainly seemed sarcastic to me though, I can't imagine anyone saying that and meaning that. I couldn't make the statement I made and put a  because I think some posters would have thought I was rolling my eyes at their opinions, which I wasn't. Same with putting a :teeth: , I wasn't laughing at anyone. I put a :smokin: as a "Hmmmm, I don't know, maybe, maybe not, but I'm being sarcastic right now with my statement." LOL! :bitelip:

The practice of having undercover cops in schools to bust drug dealers doesn't bother me, I guess because I grew up with it. I'm not so sure how I feel about lock downs. I believe situations like that can get out of hand. Remember a couple of years ago when there was a school that went through a lock down between classes, while kids were moving in the hallways from one class to another, where kids who wouldn't know a drug if they tripped over them in the hallway were thrown spread eagle on the floor and against walls, some in headlocks, with uniformed officers holding guns at their backs and heads? That was insane. I'm not saying all lock downs are like that, but I am saying things can be taken to the extreme.

I wouldn't categorize the kids that got busted as "lowlives". We know nothing about them other than they got caught selling drugs to an undercover cop. I guess if you think that makes someone a lowlife, have at it. I'll reserve judgement since I know nothing about the kids other than what was reported.

I also wouldn't jump to conclusion that the OP may be a mother of one of the children that got busted. Maybe they just happen to share the same opinion as the mother, maybe the OP saw the video and felt the same way the mother did. Sheesh, I've seen Rush Limbaugh quoted many times on the DIS without giving him credit, I wouldn't draw the conclusion that the OP quoting Rush was Rush himself though. :teeth:

I honestly don't see why it matters if they sold one joint or 100 joints. That will probably be taken into account during the punishment phase - obviously, the people who sold less will get less of a punishment. They should still be arrested and punished. Hey, if it's some kid's first time buying and selling a joint, you can bet he'll probably never do it again.

Plus, this is MA we're talking about. You can molest kids repeatedly and they let you out on a suspended sentence to live next door to a daycare center, you can write about molesting children, mail it around the country to other sex offenders and nothing happens to you - oh wait, you're awarded $300. Chances are, nothing is going to come of this, except maybe a wake-up call to the kids. On the other hand, it could send a message to kids that if you sell drugs to someone that's attractive, you can get away with it.

Sorry, OP responded before I did, it takes me a long time to type.

Actually more facts are out:

She made up a story that her mother was dead and she needed drugs to kill the pain? That is a defense lawyers dream
One kid was arrested for a $40.00 bag?
The Suffolk district attorney thinks the whole thing was ridiculous?
All of the nasty pushers are out on 500 dollars bail?
It's starting to sound like a Police gone wild story.
As the DA said you will have to explain the whole thing to a jury and her behavior is not going to sound good.

The "War on Drugs". You just gotta wonder who we're declaring war on these days

I'm not going to comment on the ecstasy. THAT should remain illegal. But I will say that is ridiculous that in 2006 marijuana isn't legal in this country. Far too many resources are being spent to fight a drug that is no worse (and in my opinion less worse) than cigarettes.

If there were nine arrested and she was only sold to 31 times in 4 months that isn't a whole lot that is less then 4 times per kid which would be less then one time a month. One was arrested for a $40 bag that isn't much. one was arrested for a $100 bag and told her he kept his drug money seperate. Maybe because it wasn't his money to spend. I just think this was handled the wrong way.

There is a good chance these kids will be arrested for class x felonies when it is a police officers fault they had the drugs on them anyway. Not to mention expelled from school. That will really help thier future

I just read this article. I would be shocked if most of these charges aren't thrown out or pled way down in the next few months. Shame on the police. Instead of doing a real investigation to nail the serious drug dealers, they take the lazy way out and try to entice some never before drug dealers into getting drugs for this woman. Terrible.

Let me reiterate, I have no problem with getting the drugs out of high schools... but what has happened here is a disgrace.

I am wondering if they will make a deal with the police department and rat out who the real dealers are to get a lesser charge

that's a good point. It would nail the real problem at the school and also teach the kids that got busted an important life lesson about breaking the law. That would be the best possible resolution of this matter.

I know I will be flamed but, I have to somewhat agree with the op. I think it is fine to send in the police dog if they want to get the drugs out of the school, but I don't think it is ok for a police officer to trick a kid into bringing the drugs to school. Almost every highschool student knows where to get drugs. The officer asked them to get it and bring it to school. It does not necessarily mean they are doing drugs or selling drugs. They may not have made a profit and just picked it up for her. It was a stupid thing to do. They will be punished for dealing drugs. They will be expelled from school. This is going on thier records. We will have to wait and see what thier punishment is, but it seems to me that they will have a severe punishment for doing this officer a "favor" Although it was a stupid favor in thier eyes it was a favor.
If a teenager brings drugs to school, it means they are doing or selling drugs. Perhaps it's the latter, but that is equally as bad.

I was in high school once. I knew who the druggies were. I knew where I oculd get drugs from, should that have been my desire. I was asked to do "favors" by a few of my schoolmates. I didn't do them. And yes, I was age 14-18 throughout my high school years, and still smart enough to know that drugs were illegal, and not to get involved with them. Period.

Sorry, no sympathy here. Teenegaers know the difference between right & wrong.

I am not saying they didn't do anything wrong. But selling drugs on school property is a class x felony I don't think they deserve that. With the little amounts they sold and with one of them complaining about not having money I seriously doubt they were all dealers. If they are convicted thier lives will be ruined. They won't graduate highschool. They will have a class x felony on thier record. They may not have even had the drugs on school property if it wasn't for this police officer with a sob story.

You know, I can't even read this thread anymore, some of these responses are so ridiculous.

It's not rocket science.

Drugs are illegal, Everyone knows that. If you get caught with them, you will be arrested and charged with a crime. If you do not want that to happen, then don't get caught with drugs. And I don't care if it's $10 worth of pot or $10,000 worht of pot.

It's illegal.

If it's a kid's first offense at selling, they're most likely not going to be shipped off to prison for years with a felony on their record forever. I would hope that they would be punished somehow and, if there are kids with previous offenses, then they should be dealt with more harshly.

However, to let them off without any punishment sends a terrible message. "Your Honor, she was hot." should not be a valid defense to selling drugs. "Your Honor, I need money." should not be a valid defense to selling drugs. There have been times in my life I've needed money - someone should have told me it was OK to see drugs. I have some percocet left over from surgery - I can get about $150./pill for them on the street. If I'm somewhere and a hot guy asks me if I have percs and I need the money, it's OK that I sell them?

Yes they should be charged with the crime, but do you really think they deserve to be a class x felony for picking up some drugs for this lady. They aren't the dealers they are stupid teenagers that fell for her story. I don't think thier lifes need to be ruined for that. If they are going to be charged with something maybe posession but they aren't the drug dealers

So is speeding
So is cheating on your income taxes
So is not coming to a FULL and COMPLETE stop at a stop sign
So is jaywalking
So is spitting on the sidewalk in some places

Everything is relative. Picture a 16 year old boy. A gorgeous blond is being nice to him and tells him how her mother died, her father abandoned her and she needs drugs to kill her pain. Is it wrong for him to get a 40 dollar bag of pot for her? Yes it is. Do I want my tax dollars being spent on the police worrying about that? No way! Do I want that kids life ruined? No.
Now if they had hauled him in, found out who he got it from and worked their way up the chain, it begins to make sense.
It looks like they didn't do that though. Much easier to grab a few grandstanding headlines.

Disney Doll there are limited resources. Why would they use what limited resources they have to go after some high school kids? Why not go after the "bigger fish." So they caught these kids. Well you know what? Whoever was supplying them is just goint to find new customers.

As far as saying it's illegal. Well so are a lot of things. Speeding is illegal. So is downloading music on file sharing programs. Having $10 worth of pot is so insignificant in the grand scheme of things.

But like I said pot shouldn't even be illegal. Anyone know how many people die every year from smoking marijuana? I know smoking cigarettes causes a few hundred thousand deaths a year.
