DISGUSTING! How dare the police do this...UPDATE #70!!!

Not quite understanding why you think this is a bad thing. :confused3

The kids deserved to be caught and they'd better be lucky it happened while they were the age they are, instead of further on down the road. Maybe they'll straighten up their acts now.

I took drugs while I was in high school - to the point where I think back on it and don't realize how I survived. I didn't straighten up, until I was busted by a narcotics officer, at the age of 16. I was doing something stupid and illegal; isn't that what the police are for? To catch those who are breaking the law?

Come on - those kids knew they were doing something wrong. They can plant undercover cops all over my child's school. More power to them.

Sounds like a sarcastic OP to me. Her post actually sounds like something one of the parents of an accused child would say.

I thought so too until I read her last sentence.

Watch the video on the link she provided. One of the moms is on there saying basically the same thing.

I was gonna stay out of this one, but I just have to say, I'm happy the police did what they needed to do. I'm in child welfare and I see the effects of drugs every day. Hopefully this will be a wake up call for these folks and they will make the choice to stay on the right side of the law.

I have to take a totally different stand.

Our high school drug problems become the kids in the judicial system from a young age. If we're not paying for them then, we will be as a society as they become adults and to progress to selling drugs on the streets.

As someone who made a vow to myself to never use any type of drug, I have absolutely no toleration for this sort of behavior. I don't care if you're a highschool student or a 60 year old adult. It's degrading to yourself, your family, and to your community.

I'm surprised anyone feels sorry for "those poor kids". They ruined their own lives.

as a result, NINE young lives are ruined! After a 3 month undercover investigation, 9 kids ranging in age from 14-17 have been arrested for selling drugs. Total entrapment. Those poor kids. Minding their own business in their own HS, it is not like they were out on the streets selling, OH! and of course, the undercover cop was a very young looking, attractive woman! Geesh, of course those boys would get her the drugs she asked for, she was HOT.

I don't know what this world is coming to, when they can put undercover cops in the high schools. :furious:

You have to be kidding???? Does it matter if she was good looking? On the other hand perhaps you are right, I bet that none of these boys sold any drugs to anyone that was young and ugly! :lmao:

I really believe the OP was being sarcastic. No one would say something like "they were in school, minding their own business, selling drugs" and mean that seriously. :smokin:

If this situation is entrapment then any undercover operation would be as well. They simply used the best, and sometimes the only way, to catch these criminals.

facetious

adj : cleverly amusing in tone; "a bantering tone"; "facetious remarks"; "tongue-in-cheek advice" [syn: bantering, tongue-in-cheek]

One of these might have helped:

There are people out there who will take the "civil rights violation" stand when something like this happens. The way I'm reading the OP's post, this is the way I took it.

If OP was joking, I'm sure someone out there (in the world) is really upset about it.

No, I really don't think the OP was joking. I sincerely believe she's the mother (Janet Libby) in the video. Have you watched the video? Obviously, there are some people that feel that this type of operation is wrong... the minority. I find it hard believing someone on the video and the OP so vehmently opposing this would be different people.

Ok...nine lives were RUINED because they were arrested???? Sounds to me like their lives may have just been saved.

:thumbsup2 Send them into more high schools! Maybe even middle, but I guess they're too young. We should let them get away with it until at least high school.

ITA with everyone...response seems bizzare. I used to teach in a school totally over run with drugs and gangs-we had weekly dog visits. I would send a student to the nurse to report them for obvious drug use---they would get drug tested and be arrested----but even though I could smell the drugs on them and their eyes were glazed over----they were never arrested(I think the principal was trying to cover up the drug violations).

Final straw came when 3 lovely drug dealers stole my car. Went to the police to file charges...and they said "we don't know how people teach in that school...We would never do it-or expose ourselves to that enviroment". I ended up getting threats(the school district refused to do anything), and no restution two years later....Drugs are a invasive family killing agent, and the acceptance of (even in scarsim) is unacceptable. Sorry OP I think you need a reality check.

... these lowlives are mostly high school seniors. My guess is that a large portion of them (especially in that section of the country) have or had intentions of going to college.

NEWSFLASH! Cops bust parties all the time. They're looking for underage drinking and drug use. And they do it easily. Have you heard of Facebook? Guess what! It's coming to a highschool near you! It's practically a social staple on college and university campuses across the nation.

How many people have their birthdate and incriminting picture posted? More than I care to count.

How many parties are advertised on Facebook? Heck, you can even get invitations to them through your Facebook "email" account.

And how many cops have access to Facebook? Today, most police departments do. They easily enlist the help of students. There was one incident that the students at George Washington (Washington, D.C.) wisened up and thought it was going on. They had a large, dry party with cookies and soda. And who busted the door down looking for the wild and raucous party-goers? None other than Washington PD looking for drugs and underage drinkers.

Although it was touted in the papers as hilarious, it's a wake up call. Little or nothing you do is private and our actions always affect others. Look at these forums for example. How many of us have posted pictures or information about ourselves that could, in some way or another, be used against us? If they weren't going to get busted in highschool, they were probably going to get busted in college or on a routine traffic stop. Regardless, they made the decision to engage in illegal behavior. They made the decision to ruin their own lives. The cops just enforced the law that keeps (most!) of us from engaging in such lowly and despicable behavior.

I totally don't buy into Janet Libby's (OP?) thinking of that they bought the drugs just to impress the pretty lady. What a corck of stew.

I agree with some other posters, I don't think the OP was kidding. At first I did, but the last line led me to believe that she was truly upset by this. And we wonder why some kids are the way they are.....because we have parents who defend their devient behavior. Scary.

My thoughts exactly. I just can't imagine someone saying that line in real life with a straight face, lol. I know I'd be laughing if they said it to me! I really do believe the OP was speaking tongue in cheek.

I'm really glad that school was able to catch some drug dealers and I certainly have no problem with using undercover policeman to do it.

Wow Op - was it one of your kids?

How can you think it's fine for kids to be selling drugs in school? I guess it is safer than the "streets" though isn't it?

It's this type of mentality that perpetuates drug use....."ruining their lives"...come on, selling drugs is illegal....I would be hard pressed to find out these 'poor kids" didn't know that! They deserve what ever punishment they get.....hopefully it's a stiff one!

I know I will be flamed but, I have to somewhat agree with the op. I think it is fine to send in the police dog if they want to get the drugs out of the school, but I don't think it is ok for a police officer to trick a kid into bringing the drugs to school. Almost every highschool student knows where to get drugs. The officer asked them to get it and bring it to school. It does not necessarily mean they are doing drugs or selling drugs. They may not have made a profit and just picked it up for her. It was a stupid thing to do. They will be punished for dealing drugs. They will be expelled from school. This is going on thier records. We will have to wait and see what thier punishment is, but it seems to me that they will have a severe punishment for doing this officer a "favor" Although it was a stupid favor in thier eyes it was a favor.
