If they could have gotten rid of his contract and put that money into developing someone else, I could see them do it. It would be a re-building year, and the stands would still be full.
Why? This could very well be a Superbowl year and the stands will still be full.
You don't just pick someone and develop them.
The Steelers haven't had a QB on the caliber of Ben since Terry Bradshaw, back in the 70's, remember him? Good quarterbacks don't come along every year, could be once every 30 years. And the Rooneys know it. They are smart business people. Thats why Ben is still here.
