disgusted ----- big ben....

It definitely wasn't a strong case, but all the witnesses' testimony backs up her side of the story. Problem is, nobody was in the bathroom where it happened except the girl and the pig. The Steelers used to be such a nice "family" team. They still have a group of great, respectable guys, but they are being over-shadowed by the losers. It's some consolation that Ben will never see a new endorsement contract.

But it appears from your description of Ben that you know what happened. Why is the Ben "the pig" while the girls gets away without a a label. At the very least, I would call her a jock sniffer. The other words I would use won't pass the DIS filters.

That girl new what she was getting (into) and when it wasn't the special experience she thought it was going to be she cried RAPE!

"family team". :rotfl: You really are funny. As I said prior, you must walk around with rose colored glasses.

Yey that is quite humorous. Sure uh huh, Terry wasn't known for some of his good times.......And the guys from 30+ yrs ago all drank lemon aid and did ballroom dancing!

Must have lived in a different Pittsburgh than I did.

you got that ............... re "woman" ---- how? - geez nothing to do with m/f.....BUT lack of reporting that one had to google....parnoid much? I am a woman and know football - but thank you.

Nope not paranoid ( that does not even fit the idea of paranoia), that is how your post read. Sorry if it came off that it sounded like you felt a female would not know unless they googled it. I knew you were female but that had nothing to do with it as some women are sexist against their own sex. The rest had to go to how A PITTSBURGHER would have known. Maybe there is a lack of reporting where you live but not in this town.

Ray Lewis killed 2 people, was arrested for it, and eventually struck a deal for obstruction of justice. He never served a single game suspension. The NFL openly uses Ray Lewis for their promotion and marketing.

Mark Chmura was arrested for sexual assault of his 17 year old babysitter. He admits his behavior "wasn't something a married man should do." The NFL never suspended him, allowing him to try a comeback with 2 NFL teams after his arrest.

Ben is a saint compared to these two monsters, yet he got a 4 game suspension without ever being arrested. The other two were arrested and are considered NFL greats.

Why the disparity? Because NFL players in 2009 were killing people (Stallworth), shooting people (Burress), and failing drug tests and being allowed to play in title games (Vikings). This was also fresh after Vick, Pac Man Jones, and Tank Johnson the previous year. The NFL took a huge hit in 2009 and needed some credibility fast. The first chance they got to improve their image the NFL jumped at and poor Big Ben was made an example of to boost public opinion.

That is so true. You never hear a word about Ray Lewis. All has been forgotten. I do feel that the NFL needed to enforce some kind of code of conduct though. It was getting out of control. Ben was the opportunity for the NFL to set an example. But hopefully as time passes, Ben will look back and see the suspension as a positive thing for his personal well-being. He really did need to make some changes in his life.

They dumped Santonio Holmes. He went from a Super Bowl MVP to a trade for a 6th round draft choice in a little over a year because of his off the field conduct. If the Steelers could have got a decent player in return for Ben, I wouldn't have been surprised if they would have traded him when this all came out.

They would have traded him for sure, and tried. Nobody would touch him at that time. Probably now that it's all blown over they could find a team who would want him but he is no longer damaged goods and the Steelers will give him another chance. One more public indiscretion and he's gone. IMO.

Worthlessburger.

Oh yea, because those 2 Super Bowl Championships he brought to Pittsburgh in 3 years don't mean anything. :sad2:

I'm not so sure. The Rooneys have alot of money invested in Ben. They signed him as their long term quarterback. Of course I know that was before the motorcycle accident, Reno and Georgia. I did worry a little and kept my eye on the NFL message boards during the draft.

But the Rooneys did make the impression they would stand behind him in the statement they made after the Georgia incident. I think they would have had to get a heck of a sweet deal to get rid of him.

He's still damaged goods, but they have too much money invested in him to get rid of him.

They tried very hard to get rid of him, seven teams or so. I forget who they were now. None of the teams were willing to finalize a deal.

No they didn't . Maybe thats what the news was down in Florida and it was rumored and the national media went with that and flew. Was it ever reported in national news that the Rooneys flat out denied shopping him around. NO!!! And they did. They said, they would stand behind him and outright denied that they looked for another team to trade him to.

Again half truths! Because it wasn't news that the Rooneys were standing behind their quarterback, just news when it was rumored that they wanted to dump him which wasn't the case at all.

And the only reason the rumors flew with Ben was because of the dumping of Santonio.,

Believe me if the Rooney's wanted rid of him he would be gone, period.

I have very, very strong ties to Pittsburgh and what I'm telling you is true.

The Steelers wouldn't trade him; they have no other QBs and there are very few of his caliber out there.

Good for you! I live here in Pittsburgh and I'm telling you that it was reported and the Rooneys made a statement when all was said and done that they were never shopping Ben around the league. That is was all a rumor.

And as Hannathy said, if the Rooney wanted Ben gone he would be. The Rooneys are one of the most powerful and influential football owners in the NFL. I'm sure it easily could have been a done deal.

If they could have gotten rid of his contract and put that money into developing someone else, I could see them do it. It would be a re-building year, and the stands would still be full.

ETA: Check out all the Steelers tickets for sale on Craigslist. Unbelievable. You never see that many for sale- not ever. That's Big Ben's legacy.
