I have some shoppers drug mart gc. Anyone know if I can use them to buy third party gc? Preferably Disney ones?

You can use Shoppers Drug Mart Gift cards to purchase third party gift cards in store only not online. I have done so, last time was in August of 2025. The above FAQ question on their website backs this up still so I don't believe they have changed the policy.

You cannot use Optimum points to purchase a Gift card though.

Except, you can, you just need to be creative.

You need to purchase an amount of items from the store that are equal to or greater than the amount of the gift card you wish to purchase.

e.g. Select $50 of items from the shelves. Add a gift card for $50 to your purchase. Pay $50 + use 50,000 Optimum points.

In my head I'm paying for the groceries and using Optimum points for the gift card.

They let me use the shoppers gc to buy a Disney gc. Didn’t even buy extra stuff.

Interesting. I tried to do it last Christmas (2024, not 2025) and they would not allow it. I was getting a few Timmys gc for stocking stuffers. Could be the Shoppers I was in or maybe the staff wasn't knowledgeable. Makes no difference now because the Shoppers gcs are gone but good to know.

They tried that with me once too. I showed their website statement saying otherwise and the cashier let me do it. I also suggested getting manager to view it but she didn't call the manager.

I use them every Christmas to purchase baking supplies and my Christmas dinner fixings. Not as useful now that I don't have my family (40/50 people) over for Christmas Eve though.

Yes, you just need to be creative.

As long as the total of your purchase is more than the gift card, you can use points to ‘purchase’ your GC.

E.g. when my grocery order is $100+ I add a $100 Disney GC. I use 100,000 points (which in my head is for the gift card) and pay the balance for the groceries as I normally would.
