Word of advice: Do not wear croc capris when it's been raining. I was walking on campus and it had rained and I slipped and almost fell.

Mandy: I fell wearing the clogs... tore up my knee two days before going to Disney!
I'm finding my Athens are getting loose on me... DM said you can put them in the dryer to shrink them a bit, I have to try that.

Wendy: I don't envy you on a bus trip with that type of mother. ugh... :sad2:

It's not they are lose I think I've worn the gripping out on them on the bottom. It wouldn't of been so bad the first time but both times there were a ton of people around so that was my graceful moments for the day.

Renee.... so sorry about your loss.... you and your family are all in our thoughts and prayers...

sometimes volunteering tests our patience. I am coordinating the band trip to Florida in February and one of the ladies that applied to chaperone I DISLIKE VERY MUCH....she is selfish, mean, and doesn't not have the best interests of the group,.... only her daughter..... problem is we will probably need 8 chaperones and have about 10 appliations and a couple of the people that applied are worse than her........yikes..... I can't stand being in the room with her let alone a 7 day bus trip!!!!!!

Ugh - can't imagine having to be on a bus trip with a person like that. :sad2:

I may have to try that. I remember reading about that when I was down there that you fell.

Next Friday at this time I will be in Nashville. I'm excited for that.

No...Renée...you are really starting to lose it....

Renee - I will definitely remember you and your family in my prayers for in the morning.

I want to tell you all about our evening tonight. We have been visiting a Sunday School class at church for the past 3 weeks and we have really enjoyed it. Well, tonight the church had a Parent's Night Out where for $7 per child we could leave the kids at church from 6-9pm. We had sort of planned on taking the girls there and then on Sunday morning they announced that people from the class would be meeting at a local seafood restaurant during this time for some adult conversation. Since we are new in the class we decided to go to the restaurant so we could meet some people. When we got there 2 other couple were there so we ate with them. During the conversation the Disney subject came up and as it turns out the other 2 couples are "Disney People" too! One couple has already been once this year and is going back later this fall and the other couple is taking their 5 year old twins to WDW in November. We really had a good time and I think we are definitley going to fit in in the class!! A side note here Amanda was not too happy about going because none of her friends were going to be there but once she got there they needed help in the baby & toddler room so she went in there and helped out. In fact when we went to pick her up the lady that was in charge in the room where she was didn't want her to go then since they still had 6 babies so she brought her home about 9:20 so Amanda ended up having a good time.

Oh, I didn't post this yesterday...I had to take Alyssa to the dr yesterday afternoon...she woke up yesterday morning with her ear running but no pain or fever. The dr said that she has a very bad ear infection and a perforated ear drum...again!! He prescribed some antiboitic ear drops and an oral antiboitic for 10 days each. Other than having to keep cotton in her ear the catch the drainage you woudn't know the child was sick at all!! It sure does make it hard to know when she has an ear infection but I'm glad she's not in pain!!

Probably close to 300 people at the funeral yesterday... my cousins refused to have a wake - they just weren't up to it - but they greeted EVERY person at the doors of the church. We were out to the sidewalk for about 15 minutes before we even got in. There was a beautiful portrait of Kristen in the vestibule of the church. A very nice mass and the priest gave a lovely homily. It took over 1/2 hour to leave the church, because they thanked every person on the way out, too. Just heartbreaking....

Give your kids an extra hug today for Kristen..... :grouphug:

So, how is everyone? ;) We are getting into a "routine" - sort of. LOL I'm not liking this early wakeup call, and I find myself going back to bed for a bit after Dana is safely on the bus. :cloud9: I'm taking this "retirement" thing a little bit too far, I think. :lmao:

We went to Back to School Night and we liked all of Dana's teacher's except for the Algebra teacher. D.U.L.L. - painfully so. :sad2: Which is a shame, because Dana does not care for math as it is! She did say that Dana was doing very well, so at least THAT'S a good thing!

Dana hurt her tailbone at Blizzard Beach in June on one of the slides, and our pediatrician said it's pretty much a chronic situation - aside from a hot tub soak (trying to convince Bob that it is a perfect reason to get that hot tub I've always wanted... LOL) or an Aleve or heating pad, there isn't much you can do. Her horseback riding doesn't help, but the dr said he wouldn't stop her from doing that since she loves it so much.

Anyway... some things can aggravate it - like certain things in gym class or lugging too many heavy books! Last night we met three gems of teachers - Bob & I mentioned her situation to three of them... the gym teacher said to have her tell him immediately if any of the exercises or activities hurt, and he will give her something different to do. The Biology teacher and the World History teacher both gave us an extra copy of the HUGE textbooks to keep at home, so she doesn't have to lug ithem back and forth for homework. I just can't tell you how comforting it was to speak with these three men - they were princes. Makes you wonder why all teachers/parents can't deal rationally with situations.

We have back to school night next Tuesday. I am really looking forward to it. I have only briefly met Alec's teacher but from the work he has brought home and how she puts "smilies" or "stars", I like her already as a 1st grade teacher. Evan's 1st grade teacher just put a check mark if the work was completed. I don't know...when I was a kid I always loved when the teachers put stickers or something like that on my papers. I felt like I did a very good job.

I think it's great that some of the teachers are working things out for Dana's back condition. The gym teacher really has to as you know how things are nowadays....

I am soooo far behind on all my subbed TRs so I will be trying to catch up with them today and get my update out.

Speaking as a former "educator", positive reinforcement works WONDERS with children. The tiniest thing as a smile or star instead of just a "check" can make or break the self-esteem of a child. That "smile or star" lets a child feel that they are SPECIAL and that "teacher is happy with me, too!" :teacher:

Just like the great reaction we got last night - it shows the teacher is a caring HUMAN BEING, and that they CARE about the children under their wing for those few hours each day.
;)

Hey guys! Things have been hetic to say the least. I've got quite a bit to do and not enough time to get it done it feels like. I have to clean my room, study for a test that is Monday, and do my history homework all today, oh and I have a hair appointment. Yesterday was my Momma's birthday.

I go to the doctors tomorrow morning, to have a mole removed. nervous as heck but I'm going to get through it and tomorrow night is Rascal Flatts and Jason Aldean.

Sorry to hear about Dana. Have you considered taking her to a chiropractor, JIK they can do something for her? Just a thought.

We are still trying to get a routine going here but its going slowly. We have started some Kindy stuff. We were working on the Letter A this week and the short A sound. We are also reading Madeline and studying some space stuff. Michael started a soccer class and Danae a tumbling class and we do a storytime at the library once a week. Mick takes them while I prepare for the week but finding books, etc.

Still haven't figured out how to keep my butt off the computer instead of cleaning when I have a minute with them busy though. LOL
