Dana's Algebra teacher sounds like Amanda's reading teacher. We went to Open House a couple of weeks ago and met all of Amanda's teachers. They were all very nice but her reading teacher was so boring!! She has reading the last period of the day and this lady honestly would put anyone to sleep. She had NO inflection in her voice. Most reading teachers try to make the stories interesting and put a lot of emotion in their reading but not her. I coudln't handle that at the end of the day. But so far Amanda is doing good in there.

I was worried about our group, I'm glad you were all chatty today!!

Post some pictures when you get a chance...I know you had a great time!!

I will, I'm working on editing them I will upload them. My batteries didn't want to stay though last night so I don't have as many as I could of got if I had batteries that held the charge.

Wow. I HATE to hear something like that, being an old librarian. ;) I was the most ANIMATED reader/storyteller those kids ever saw!
I had a really nice rocker in my "story corner", but I rarely stayed in it! I was always up and down - like I said - ANIMATED!
One student said to me, "Mrs. B, I LOVE when you YELL!" I told her to maybe "rephrase" that, so her parents didn't think I was yelling at them! She meant all the voices I used when I read the stories. ;)

Hope Amanda learns to love reading DESPITE a boring teacher.

See, you sound like the perfect person to encourage kids to read!! I knew you wouldn't like the description of Amanda's teacher! I was very surprised at her demeanor. Amanda said that she's like that during class too. Amanda's doing good in there so far so maybe that will continue!

She is getting her hair cut today and donating it to Locks of Love for the 2nd time. My mother took her and I'm dying to see what it looks like...I hope she likes it, that's the main thing! I'll try to post a pic of her tonight when she gets home.

Here are some of the pictures from last night:

Wow!! I have tears in my eyes after watching this. It's so great that they give back like they do!!

I was close enough to see the sweat on them.

We have a subscription to The Papermill Playhouse - it's an equity theatre in NJ... very often it is the stop before bringing a show to Broadway... our seats are orchestra second row center.... it is AMAZING to be THAT CLOSE!!! :thumbsup2
It's been a great experience for Dana. (Bob comes along for the ride. :goodvibes )

Glad you enjoyed the concert!

Mandy- Those are AWESOME pictures!

In '99 I was FRONT row at the Garth Brooks/Tricia Yearwood concert. I was literally hanging on Garth's leg! And in my pictures, you can see his teeth so close, you can see his fillings! And I got Tricia's guitar pick!

I'm so glad I invested money in my new camera. Now to find a good battery so I can take more pictures.

I'm spoiled now after that, though Keith Urban is coming to Nsahville. Hmm.

HEE HEE! That brought back a memory. When I was in high school, Garth played our state fair... FREE concert! I went, but only stayed about 30 minutes because the building was stifling!

Renee... I was so sorry to read about your cousin's daughter. I hope the family is doing alright. Glad to hear Dana is getting along better in school.

Avery is feeling much better. She bounced back within hours of getting home from the hospital. Of course, it took me 3 days to get caught up on my sleep! She ended up missing only one day of school. Got the bill yeaterday... $1400! My favorite part was the $64 dose of Tylenol!

We have been really busy around here this week. I enrolled Tucker in Cub Scouts. He is a Webelos 1. I think he is really going to enjoy it. I am trying to get Avery into Daisies (Girl Scouts.) The Daisy troop in our area is full, so I am now starting a new troop. Don't ask me what I was thinking when I agreed to be a Co-Leader! :scared1: Guess I'll do that during my "spare time!"

It's funny hearing everyone talking about the Back to School things... my kids are getting report cards next Friday, then having their first 3 week break. I'm looking forward to having them home for a bit. If only I can keep them from making me nuts!

Glad to hear Avery is doing well. $64 for a dose of tylenol! Yikes! It's amazing how inflated hospital bills can be. But, :tiptoe: without getting totally political :tiptoe: , I'd rather it the way it is, than having the government run it.

Co-leader of a DAISY TROOP?! All I can say is, "God Bless You!"

Hello everyone... sounds like everyone is settle in the school routine. Us too! I must say it is one of the joys of having a teenager is they do so much for themselves. I do get up with them in the morning... now that Maggie is driving they leave for school around 7:15 am and then they are off for the day. Daniel plays varsity golf (as a 9th grader) and usually doesn't get home until around 7pm....unless it is a marching band night then he is gone until 9:30pm...long day for him.........Maggie has marching band 2 nights a week and dance class two nights a week so she is busy. They are both enjoying their classess very much..... Daniel really likes biology... and is finding his spanish class to be a challenge....not sure why........Maggie has found that college classes are much more challenging than high school classes. We have a wonderful program at our school that allows the kids to take college classes while still in high school if they have enough credits to graduate. Maggie went to summer school for 2 years so she could finish up her high school stuff and now is taking 15 hours of college classess. We have to pay for them but it is dirt cheap when you think about what one semester at really costs... we pay $135 for every 3 credit hours and they provide the books so we don't even have that expense!!!!!

My darling husband is finally back to work.... he decided retirement wasn't for him (actually I decided and gently nudged him back). He is now working for the American Red Cross as the Onondaga County Account Manager,.... not sure what it is that he does... I just know that he leaves at 7:30 am and comes home about 6pm and I have my mornings back to myself..........love those quiet mornings when I can have my coffee read the paper and do what ever I want..............

just wondering when you all were planning your next trips to WDW???????????

No WDW for us for at least a couple of years. We want to do the cruise next year, and are hoping to tack Kennedy Space Center and Sea World onto it. Maybe in 2009...

I am jealous of all of you planning trips. There is no real "planning" for the cruise. I miss pouring over menus, schedules, etc. I did order Birnbaum's DCL off of ebay... something to look forward to!
