Hi Everyone,
I hope you don’t mind me jumping into your thread at such a late date. I’ve enjoyed reading the boards here at DIS for awhile now. There has been so much to read that I never got around to posting until today LOL

My older daughter is taking my younger daughter and myself to WDW. She’s a good girl isn’t she? We’re leaving on 6/23 after older DD gets out of work at 3 PM. We should arrive at our hotel (offsite) late in the evening on 6/24. I’m sure it’ll take us over 24 hrs as we’re driving down from the northern part of Central New York.

I’ve taken my older daughter to WDW 5 times and she’s been 1 more time with a boyfriend. My younger daughter has never been. We’re all looking forward to our Girls Only trip, but I can state for a fact that I’m much more excited than either of them LOL

Nice to meet you all !!!

Hi there! :welcome:

I'm interested to hear how the drive down goes. I've thought about driving in the past, but it seems like such a LONG DRIVE from NY!

Welcome to our thread. Yes, this thread is very very long but most of it is fluff so anyone can join at any time! We will be ending it shortly though when we all leave for our vacations!

We will be starting a combined trip report afterward that you may want to check out. I will be posting a link here before I leave on 6/22.

Just wondering where in upper CNY you live. As you can see, we are from Liverpool. MagicAddict is from Ithaca, and MAGGIED is from Pennellville. There are a bunch of CNYers in here!

Hi Brittany,
In 1989 we took the train...that is also a long ride but you don't have to worry about getting too sleepy. The train ride is a great experience but the distance took it's toll and after awhile it's very uncomfortable.

It's a very LONG drive from NY. It's easier when you have someone to share the driving with. This time will be easier as my older daughter can drive as well as myself. The last time we went was in 1996 and she was too young to drive, not quite 16.
My mother has been with me on 2 of the trips (1992 and 1994) but I don't usually have her drive much ::snicker::: I'm just not comfortable with some people's driving habits.
In 1993 it was just my older DD and myself. We had a blast and that was probably my most carefree trip.

Since my younger DD is not quite as patient as my older daugher was at her age I'm concerned about her during the long boring drive. I've borrowed a DVD player from a friend. DD9 has already picked out over a dozen movies to take and has them packed already. She's taking her gameboy and a few other handheld games. We've printed out some games and songs for her and put them into a folder. I've also made a trip journal for her, she doesn't know yet. I'm going to give it to her right after we leave :)
I've already bought some snacks and bottled water for the road. Will pick up lunch meats and bread the night before we leave and will pack a large cooler in the trunk and a smaller one for the backseat for easy access to drinks while we're driving.
I'll have her bring one of her own pillows and a blanket and the stuffed Mickey that I bought her the day we surprised her with the news of our trip. Hopefully she'll be able to sleep in the car on the way down.

Hi DM !
I grew up in Liverpool. My older DD lives in L'pool. My younger DD and I live northwest in a small town near Fulton.
I saw the post about the meet in Epcot on the 23rd. I hope you all have a wonderful time. We'll be in Norway in the late afternoon on the 25th. We've booked the Pricess Storybook Dinner....I can't wait :)

PatW - I see that you said you are from northern Central NY - DM and I are from CNY also.... where abouts are you located?

Welcome PatW! I will not be there, as we leave on the 23rd, but there is a group meeting at Off Kilter show in Canada on the 25th. There is a link at the top of page 1. Hope you have a good drive!

Small world! So your daughter lives in Liverpool too? Funny if she lived nearby. I'm close to Onondaga Lake on the Long Branch Rd side. I have friends who live in Fulton on Ridge Rd, I think.

You just missed her post Wendy. She lives in Fulton.

OKay I finally got time to sit my butt down and post. The concert was awesome. We were about three feet from the stage. He kept it pg till he went off air then it got a bit raunchy but nothing bad. I got a few good laughs. But goodness there several people there that I knew.

He talked about his fiancee, Katherine that he misses and wishes he was home with her.

Mom made to Al with the car overheating once, so there is defently something wrong with the car. She should be leaving now to head on home to La, again she will be taking it slow.

DM- I'm a people watcher and I listen to what is going on around me. You do have a slight accent , it is barely noticeable. No,it is not nasally.

So glad your mom made it! Now, I'm hoping she has a safe trip home!

And DM DOES sound nasally! :lmao: :lmao:

Since we are leaving on our anniversary we are going to tell them that we are all going on a little trip to the beach for our anniversary. Then when we get to I-10 I'm going to say "can we just turn left and go see Mickey?" DH is going to say no and go passed the on ramp...then he is going to say "oh I guess so" & turn around & get on I-10. This is all assuming that they will still be awake 3 hours after we leave. If they are asleep we will just quietly get on 10 and see how far we can make it before they realize it. I'm getting sooo excited!!

So cool!!!! I hope they are awake so yall can play out this situation!!!! They will be SO excited!

Maybe try some longer throw rugs for each side of your bed.

I'm gonna do that... I think I just want a small one for the foot of the bed- a runner type. I have a large one that I used to have under the bed... But these floors are so pretty I don't want to cover them up!

Welcome PatW!!!!

Cool pics Mandy!!!!! Love them!

I know you love them Court. You told me yesterday. Oh hey my cell is up on my facebook if you need to grab it for vacation.

I've got a bit to do today but I'll get it done eventually.

Wow - you took the train? I don't think I could ever do that! I took a train ride across Spain when I was younger and I remember being SO ready to get off that thing! I can't imagine going from NY to FL! Makes me think of the episode of Sex & the City where Carrie & Samantha take the train from NY to California - funny stuff! :rotfl2: Any other Sex & the City fans here?

Me and Theo from Road Rules

Cool! You met Theo! I used to LOVE Road Rules - watched it all the time!

I do know how you feel. I haven't even thought much about our trip the past few days & that's a shocker for me.

I feel the same way - I'm trying to pack up 8 years of my life in the school library and it is getting to me. And, considering I've been bringing home lots of "stuff" to sort through in the privacy of my own den, I now have a slew of boxes to go through. Bob keeps looking at me when I ask him to get another box out of my car. So this room - my own special corner of the house, is a pigsty - and I have things all over the guest room, in anticipation of packing. I still haven't been to Dana's room to start sorting her packing things and our bedroom - forget it. Piles on the chair and ironing board still out..

I need this week to be OVER. Tonight we have a cocktail party at the country club for the priest that is leaving the high school Dana is going to attend (old friend of ours - we're sad he's being moved) to become a pastor at a new parish - wonderful honor for him - sad for us. Tomorrow I have to play for the Pre K "step up" program - TEN SONGS. Nothing like taking advantage of my goodness! lol The class is coming for a pool party on Thursday. My nephew graduates on Friday. We have TWO graduation parties on Saturday.

I don't think I'm going to get to packing until SUNDAY. :sad2:

Xanax time! Ok, as I have already posted, I am a little freaked out about potentially large crowds during our trip, now to amp up my anxiety, Chris calls me yesterday and says " would it be possible to postpone our trip?" Uh, NO! You see, he is putting in a pool, and the company he ordered the pool kit from is runing way behind on their deliveries, and now he only has 9 days to get the pool in the ground before we leave and the kit still isn't here yet!:scared1:
Well, I told him he'll have to work like HE- - to get it in before we leave, cuz we aren't postponing . Needless to say, I am on the brink of a meltdown and may have to break out the Xanax at any moment. He says he feels pretty sure that he can get it done if it arrives in the next day or two. The hole is already dug, so he's done all he can do for now.:rolleyes1 Now we just have to wait!

You know what, Laura? Sometimes Xanax can be a "good thing"!

Whenever I start to feel overwhelmed with all the stuff I still have to do, I know I can just log on here and read about someone who's even worse off than I am, and it's usually you, Renee! :rotfl2:

Seriously, I don't know how you're keeping up with this frantic pace, always on the go. By the time you make it to WDW you'll be completely exhausted!

I am getting sick, by the way. Well, I should say I AM sick. My head is completely congested and I have a throbbing headache, my throat is sore, my body is achy and I'm exhausted. Better to get it over with now, however, than be getting it a week from now! Antonia has been stuffy and complaining about her throat too. Actually, so has DH. I'm sitting here at work right now feeling horrible and dreaming of going home and zonking out on the couch! Oh, it's gonna be so good!

Yep - that's me - Queen of the Frantic Pace! I may send Bob out with Dana one day to the parks and just bask in the Florida sunshine! Actually, that's why we AREN'T planning minute by minute. We really want to just enjoy some TIME AWAY!

I hope you all feel better. Get to the doctor for meds if it gets worse. Are you flying? (I can't keep everyone's plans straight! lol) Because if so, you'll want those ears/congestion cleared up before that!
