Hey everyone...I may have the opportunity for a part-time home based job doing medical transcription for an urologists' office. I have extensive medical transcription background but could never commit to the previous company I worked for because they wanted much more hours than I could possibly do right now and I had to be tied down to working certain hours, plus holidays. What's the point of working at home if you can't make your own hours? Well, my mom works for this urologists' office and she called me because they need someone. It's part-time and I can make my own hours. It seems like things may be falling into place... Please wish me luck that this isn't too good to be true. We could really use the extra cash to pay off some debts. Yup - I have debts and I'm going to Disney!

HAPPY EASTER!!!

I hope this works out for you!!

This year my kids will each have a Disney gift card loading with money they have earned and were given as gifts during the past couple of months. They should have a hefty chunk of change to spend as they want. We did the Disney dollars last time and that was a mistake. Cute but a pain to keep track of how much each had. Gift cards are the way to go....

HAPPY EASTER!!!

Good luck with the "at home" work.. Always wanted to do something like that. After 7 years of working full time after DD started school, I'm ready to "retire"... thinking of leaving in June. I am very fortunate that I don't "have" to work. Feeling like I'm coming to a "crossroads" in my life - DD starting high school, me turning 45 this year, hubby doing well and wanting me to oversee some home improvements... I'm looking forward to a "change".

We are bringing $1000 worth of Disney gift cards with us in June to pay for our meals and extras. Our parish participates in a gift card program, so if we buy them through the program, the church gets a donation. win-win for us - we're giving a donation and we aren't carrying cash. Unfortuantely we can't pay for the Dolphin's room with the gift cards, or our parish would have received a REALLY nice donation! lol

That's interesting. You attend a catholic parish, correct? We do also. I doubt they have that type of program. It would be nice to have something like that for our church as they have just added on a huge gymnasium, new preschool, and conference rooms and have undertaken a huge debt. We have an extremely large parish and I would think having a program like that could help them. I'm sure it's too late now though...at least for our upcoming trip.

Yes - we attend a Catholic parish. This program is available to all non-profit organizations I believe. It's called Scrip... they have a website www.scrip.com Maybe your parish could look into it. Many schools do it, also, from what I understand.

I keep our's in business with birthday and Christmas gift cards, and my terrible STARBUCKS habit!! lol They just added Dunkin Donuts, so my husband's habit can be looked at as a donation, too! :coffee:

We are going to Boston this week for a few days - we like to stay at Marriotts when we travel (aside from Disney) and we buy the gift cards to pay for the room, so it's a great donation for the parish. Stayed in Manhattan at the Marriott Marquis during Christmas break and did the same. I usually buy enough to cover the room rate at least, sometimes a little more for food/cocktails at the hotel.

We did gift cards for our kids this year, too. Last year we had cash for each, kept in their wallets in my backpack. It was terrible having to dig them out, and DDs didn't have a change purse! :scared1: This year Santa gave them each a gift card in their stocking with $20 on it. We loaded them a few weeks ago with money from their banks, and they each have around $81 so far. They can only use their allowance ($2 a week) and extra $$ from doing extra chores and such. Christmas, birthday money etc goes into their savings acct. They'll probably have $125+ by the time we go.

We haven't paid our trip off, yet. My tax refund came in on Friday, so I will be sending AAA a check on Monday. I will still owe a little, but will wait until it is due to pay the balance. We will put aside cash for spending money while we are there. We don't use our credit cards unless we have to, because we get into trouble that way! Last year we budgeted $1000 for gas, cheap hotel 2 nights, food, and spending money. We came home with money left over, so we will plan the same this year.

Good for you - not using credit cards!

We, actually, use our credit card for almost everything - never use cash. But we are very good about paying it off each month. When that starts to "not happen", then they will get cut up! (seems like we are either using the credit card, or the gift cards we buy at church!)

I don't want to take more than the $1000 in Disney gift cards - not sure how much we will actually spend for meals. Sometimes we like to eat very expensive - sometimes pretzel or chicken fingers is what we feel like! That's why we don't do ADR. We may end up putting more on the credit card when the Disney gift cards are used up!

I have bought several...I'm scared to say how many...pins off of ebay for my girls to trade this trip. I have the name of a good seller who was recommended on here on the collectors board if you want his name. He sells them individually and is very descriptive about each pin...the ones that I have gotten have all be "Official Trading Pins". We have never traded so we'll see how it goes.

The gift card thing does sound good...we did Disney Dollars last time and it was hard to keep up with who had what.

And we have debts and are going to Disney too!! This trip is already paid for though...we came back from our last trip with $1,000 in the Disney fund, I monogram for people so I have made a good deal with that, I have made over $400 doing focus groups, over $750 selling my DD's old clothes at consignment sales and the rest has come from rebates & saving $20 here and there. We used to charge everything...hence the debt...but the last trip and this upcoming trip have been all paid for!! We are planning a yard sale for some extra spending money before June.

75 more days for me...how many more for you??

Good for you girl!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What an inspiration for compiling Disney money! :yay: Hey I just checked my handy dandy mickey head calender count down. It says.....70 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!

No. We don't do that nor do I want to start that. I can't imagine spending the money on pins and taking away from the RIDES!!! There are too many other things to buy that I think would be better.

You are in my prayers about your new job! HAPPY EASTER!!! :hippie: :flower3:

UGGGGG, Courtney, I will never eat crawlfish now  ....I live at the shore and rarely eat seafood. But if you like it, go for it!!

Sunlover, I am still trying to decide about the pin trading. My little ones are too small and I think my older daughter may be too shy. Its costly to get started and I dont have the time to figure out which pins are valuable and which arent. What do you think?

Finally....HAPPY:butterfly EASTER TO YOU ALL!!!!!

My almost 8 yr old daughter is not shy at all ;) I do think it would be extremely hard for a shy child. I just ordered a set of 10 on ebay today. It was a grab bag sort of thing. With shipping they came to be around$3 a piece. I dont want to spend a bunch of money. I just need to get a lanyard for her. I told my daughter if she did not want to trade them, that it was ok as well.I figured 10 pins and a lanyard would be a good start;)

What did you all do today for Easter?

For us, it was just another Sunday.. We dont really "Celebrate" Easter. Mainly for the reason I am Jewish;) (my husband is not). He explains to the kids about Christmas and Easter, but we dont really celebrate Easter or to the bunny thing. I did, however, hide plastic eggs with candy for them outside. We also did color eggs last night.

Today we took them to see "Meet the Robinsons". I saw mixed reviews on this. I enjoyed the movie. The rest of the family did as well:thumbsup2 We saw the 3D version. I was hesitant at first. I was not sure my 2 1/2 yr old would keep the glasses on. She did great for most of it. At the end she got antsy and took off her glasses. She started talking too loud and walking around, so I just took her into the lobby for the last 10 minutes of the movie. I certainly did not want her to bother anybody. Movies are not cheap, so I thought it was best to get her out quickly;)

There was a bit of Disney magic in it for me. Actually before the actual movie starts, they show the Castle. Well with the 3D glasses it was cool. They did something a little different with it. The Castle was so vivid, and then they showed some fireworks, and it was just totally Disney magic with the 3D glasses.:thumbsup2 My 2 1/2 yr old yellled out "Mommy, its Cinderella's castle"

We use cash or check for everything. I also have a debit for when I need plastic. I do have credit cards, but they will be in the safe in the room in case of emergency.

We use DDP, so $1000 for us is very extravagant. We will drive down on Sat, and stay at a cheap hotel, meals will be OOP, and the kids will want to go shopping at the tourist shops. We drive home on Sat and Sun, staying at a cheap hotel along the way. We also pay gas out of that money. Everything else is fun money. We'll use it for drinks, and any extra CS meals we buy.

We haven't done the pin trading thing. I have thought about it, but I don't want to spend the money. My kids are shy, and wouldn't approach people to trade. I have also heard of many trading pins that aren't Disney for Disney pins, so be watchful of who and what trades with your kids. I also know that within a week from the time we get home, I will be picking up pins and landyards from every room in the house!

I spent it with my family, I think I can still hear and my ears haven't been talked off. Have a sil, love her dearly, but she will drive you crazy. We grilled hamburgers and hot dogs and just had an easy day.

Happy Easter Everyone!!!!!

Sounds like yall have been chatting all day!!!

We've been at my parents house with Mother's side of the family-- bbq chicken, etc. So yummy! Can you all tell I love to eat?????

DM-olic--- Good luck with the possible job... That would be great! I hope it all works out for you!!!!

Well we went to church, then came home and changed clothes, went to my parents to eat rushed back home, went to the store, made some snacks and now am waiting for my dh's family for round 2. Oblivia(MIL for those in the know from my trip report) was supposed to be here at 3 and it is now 4. Par for the course. I'm having a glass of wine as we speak as a pre-emptive strike against the insanity!;)

Court that sounds yummy. They all met at my house and there's not to many places to escape. I've heard about football and drums.

Kanga I can't wait to read the latest. I'm sure I'll be laughing more today.

Oh no. Is Oblivia going to make you late on your trip report now? I am going to blame her!

Courtney - I think you should have sent the pics for me me ME! Tell me now...do you really suck the heads? :scared: :rotfl2: RB says to me again just now that he can't wait to hear you talk.

Sometimes I wonder about posting about religious holidays just so I don't offend anyone. Sounds like you are fine with it though. I wondered sometimes if some Jewish families celebrate the "bunny" or "egg" part of the holiday just for the kids. That certainly has nothing to do with what Easter is all about although people can give you reasons for the eggs I'm sure.

I am glad to hear so many good reviews about "Meet the Robinsons". Alec (DS 5) & I will be going either at the end of this week or next week, whenever he feels better. I can't wait. I would never dream of taking Brooke. She is just over 2½ and I would really want to enjoy the movie, not cater to her. She can be really good at times, but I don't want to take the chance. Plus it gives me one-on-one time with Alec. I like to do that with each of my kids. I think they need it.

Hey!!!!

Well, I don't suck the heads, but I do suck the claws. Once you take one side of the claw out, it pulls the meat out... You eat the meat just as you would a crab claw, then you suck whats left in the claw. Sometimes you get more meat, other times you just get the delish juices... The spices, etc. But, I don't need to be suckin' any brains out... I may not be the brightest bulb on the fixture, but I don't need any more brains--- especially crawfish brains!

They are very very good... Ryan actually ate some for breakfast this morning.
Tell RB just wait... I sound much different than what he's used to!
