DISers stalking DISers...continuing our friendship!

I sure hope so. Yearbook was fun for me in high school. On campus it's a paid position along with newspaper. I'm excited for the Disney trip.

So here's another question for everybody...how many times have you been to Disney?

This will be my 4th trip.

I'm on my way to bed, but stopped to check my board! I have been to Disney 5 times... 3 as a kid/teenager, once with friends before kids, and once with kids. DH has only gone twice - once at 8 yrs old, and last year. It was really cool for him to compare reality to his childhood memories!

Well... GOODNIGHT ALL! Happy Easter! Except for Sunlvr... Happy plain old regular day to you! ;)

I've listened to Dave Ramsey and a lot of what he has to say is very interesting and inspiring, but I also agree with you.... your kids ARE only young once, and as long as you and your husband are in agreement, I think it is wonderful to make "family memories"..... :grouphug:

I so totally agree. If I were not the Disney lover, I dont think my husband would want to justify spending the money on vacation. I use mostly my dogsitting money for our vacations. I am pretty good about saving it. That is why I did not complain once about having 9dogs here this past weekend:eek: Ok, 3 of them were mine, but 6 were customers. Money is money, expecially when it comes to Disney.;)

So here's another question for everybody...how many times have you been to Disney?

This will be my 4th trip.

I think this will be my 15th trip there... but not sure.;)

Brooke will be 3 on July 8. I love that she will still be free this last time to Disney, as I am sure you are that Faith will be also. ;)

Do you think you may be able to make our DIS meet in Epcot on the 23rd? Maybe our little girls will hit it off...or maybe not... You never know with that age.

Yes, that is why we are going in June, because the youngest is still free. That is always how Ive convinced my husband over the years..."Well you know, the youngest is free still"

I will try to make it to Epcot on the 23rd. It really depends on the family. I mean I know we will be at MK on the 20th for sure. Im "thinking" Universal on the 21, so its really up in the air for the 22 and 23. It just depends on many days left on the park hoppers.

How old are your other kids?

Elizabeth will be 8 July 17th
Matthew will be 13 Aug 19
Faith will be 3 Aug 13
Yes, all Summer birthdays...:)

Ok, so there may be a slight change in our plans. Well not really a change, my parents now said they "might" come to Disney for a few days as well.

Hmmm. My parents now live in the Ft Lauderdale area(retired there 4 yrs ago from the Chicago area). They have both been to Disney a handful of times. My mother has had her 2nd hip replaced this past Oct. Apparently she is feeling like she "may" be able to go. She has used a walker for awhile now, can now walk without the walker in her house and short distances. My dad told me he would get a wheelchair for my mom if they do "join" us. My mom tells me, they are still"thinking" about it. She informs me that my dads back hurts at times, and that he may not be able to walk far distances. So I suggest taking turns in the wheelchair:lmao: .. My mother was not amused.
My dad asked me for the link to the hotel we are staying at, and has already checked out prices and such.

So right now, we are not sure if they are going. It would be nice, my kids would love to have their grandparents with them. Also,(this is selfish of me), then we dont have to drive to Ft Lauderdale first for 2 days, if they spend time with us in Disney....

But then, it throws me off on my schedule. We had planned this, leave here June 16th...drive for however long my husband wants to drive for. Then we would stop overnight, and on June 17th, arrive sometime at my parents condo in South Florida. We would Spend the night of 17th and 18th with my parents, then head to Disney on the 19th..hmmm...what to do, what to do:confused3

Now, if they decide not to go.. no big deal. Sorry.. just thinking out loud. Honestly I would love for them to go,. My parents are 71, and 73, and I really think they would have a great time.Time will tell.

Wow, I feel like such a Disney Veteran wanna-be :confused3 :confused3

This will only be my 6th time. The first two were with my family back in the day--- Let's see, um, back in '89, and then again in '98.

And then I got to go for free (and got paid for being there/and for food money daily) when we went to nationals for LSU dance team. That was two years in a row- '02 and '03. We went in January those times.... Can I tell you that we rode everything a million times because there were no lines???? We rode RnR 12 times in a row without waiting. It was so fun!

But I went for the first time with my husband last year and that was, by far the most amazing trip I have ever taken.... even better than our honeymoon in Hawaii. And that was the first trip that I actually had to pay for (since my first two were paid by the parents of course).

It was absolutely amazing last year. I'm so excited to get to go again with just him and have a repeat of the best trip ever!

courtney, think i'm going to have to beg dh to order some of them mudbugs,
and me, dh and ds all suck the heads. never did the claws. one of my brothers in la called for easter and he and his family were eating them also.
dd wants some alliagator to eat, told her that we have to go down for that
"YUMMO" food. Think next year when we go to visit my family that I will try and talk dh to go about the time that Beaux Bridge has their Crawfish Boil.

And then I got to go for free (and got paid for being there/and for food money daily)

That was me in 97. I went with friends as a babysitter. My girlfriend was 7 months pregnant, and had 13 month and 2 1/2 yr old girls. They paid for my airfare, food, 4 days of park tickets (including 1 to Sea World). All I paid for was spending money. I helped her out with the kids, in particular while her hubby golfed in the AMs. Gotta love a free trip to Disney! Found out a few week after I got home that I was pregnant with my DS, but at least I wasn't feeling bad for the trip, other than a few bouts of nausea. (I chalked those up to heat when they happened since we went in August!)

So funny---- I wish I could get every one of you stinkers here to try one. I'm still trying to get DM-olic on the next plane to Baton Rouge, but she insists on spending all of her money at Disney--- Go figure!
But dear, if I weren't spending my money this time to go to Disney, we probably wouldn't have met...:sad2: Rob said it may be fun to go to Baton Rouge sometime. He wouldn't mind going to a boil either. But Disney keeps on calling....

Our philosophy is that none of us know what tomorrow holds for us, we didn't get this credit card debt overnight (it was years of bad decisions) and as long as we are working on paying it off we want to make memories for our DDs...and what better place to make memories than Disney!!
I agree as far as memories go with my kids. We do have some serious debts to pay off. I'm hoping this hopeful job offering will pan out and help us, as long as I'm not stupid and really put it toward our debt. And I simply do not care - I feel I need a vacation once a year for health reasons also. I get very depressed during the winter up here. Being on these DISboards with you all has helped and planning a trip in June really gets my brain in a better sense. I think next year our vacation will be Cape Canaveral again as we loved going there last year. Time for a beach vacation....oh, I mean shore (that's for you SingingMom). :beach:

So here's another question for everybody...how many times have you been to Disney?
I've been to Disneyland 4 times and Disney World 6 times. So this upcoming trip will be lucky number 7!

Yes, that is why we are going in June, because the youngest is still free. That is always how Ive convinced my husband over the years..."Well you know, the youngest is free still"
There is always something you can use to convince why you need to go NOW! First, there was our honeymoon, then it was because the rest of the family was going, then it was because Rob got a new job and we had a free place to stay in for part of our stay on the gulf shore, then we had kids and Alec was 2½ and still free, then we were in Florida anyway so why not make that 3 hour drive up to the MK, then we were in Florida again and this really may be the "last time" we can do because Brooke is 2½ and free. But then we got our income tax return and Brooke won't be 3 until July and the DDP is really a good deal, so we definitely should go! LOL.

How old are your other kids?

Elizabeth will be 8 July 17th
Matthew will be 13 Aug 19
Faith will be 3 Aug 13
Yes, all Summer birthdays...:)
Evan is 7½ and will be 8 on Sept 3rd
Alec will be turning 6 on June 12th

Hey all...I had to share this with you. Has anyone been playing the Instant Win game on the Disney Movie Rewards website? I have won twice on it so far. The first was before Christmas and I won a Family Fun Holiday Fun book autographed by the author. Yesterday I won a Party Express Disney Winnie The Pooh Light & Sound Centerpiece with Table Cover. I probably won't be using it because Brooke's next birthday party will be a princess one (she already told me). I'll see if my brother may want it for his baby girl's first birthday maybe... I was just excited to have won twice on it!:woohoo:

So here's another question for everybody...how many times have you been to Disney?

This will be my 4th trip.

I went for my 8th B-day in 1986- 10 day trip, also went to Sea World, not sure if Universal was open yet
I went for ONE DAY in 1988- we were on vacation for 2 weeks at Coco Beach and took a day trip to the MK. I think we only stood about 1/2 a day. Ughh, my dad and step-mom just don't know anything about WDW:rotfl:

I then waited 11 YEARS:eek: (1999) till I went to visit my cousin who was doing the college plan (Why didn't anyone tell me about it?)

I then went one time each of the following two years

Then I went the last time in 2005 with the soon to be DW:cloud9:

so 5 1/2 :lmao:

Thanks, Courtney! Too bad we can't get Mocha & Maddie together for a "play date"! :goodvibes

Maybe she could teach him how to be a better sport about "dress up"... he was quite humliated yesterday when DD & I took him out to pick out a birthday present at Petco... she insisted he wear his birthday hat.. he was a big hit at the store! He also is in dire need of a haircut, which he will get this week! lol

Your cute doggie's expression under the party hat is just priceless!!! :rotfl:

So here's another question for everybody...how many times have you been to Disney?

This will be my 4th trip.

You know I should really stop and think about this...some trips were when I was really little. I mean I remember the colored tickets from 1974! Hmmmm...I would guess 3x before I was ten, then once in college, once during my first teaching job, then a long break, once after my dad passed, then twice last summer! So that totals to 8. Hmmm... I guess thats about right. So I am really looking forward to this trip now that I have the Dis with me!!! :yay:

I've been to Disneyland 4 times and Disney World 6 times. So this upcoming trip will be lucky number 7!

Gee thats funny, I am using the same thinking!!! DD2 still is free this summer!

So here's another question for everybody...how many times have you been to Disney?

This will be my 4th trip.

This will be my 7th trip...

Trip #1: As a teenager.. the trip from "you know what", except when we actually arrived in Disney. I'm the oldest of 4, and we never went anywhere but "the shore", because of the expense. My aunt & uncle had a Winnebago, and bought a used popup trailer, and TEN of us "camped" all the way there and back. NJ to Florida..... :scared: NEVER EVER AGAIN will I go camping.... the popup leaked, the campgrounds were horrible - THEN we arrived at Fort Wilderness. THAT was lovely! The bathrooms were CLEAN, the grounds well cared for, and WE WERE IN DISNEY!!!! Magic Kingdom, River Country, and an extremely HOT HOT day at Sea World. (EPCOT wasn't even built yet!) This was AUGUST, so it was HOT HOT HOT! :cool2:

Trip #2 - Overnight on the way to DH brother's wedding. Offsite, WITH my future mother in law. Need I say more....

Trip #3 - Newlyweds... Stayed offsite to justify going on vacation five months after a Bermuda honeymoon! lol :goodvibes

Trip #4 - FINALLY get to stay ONSITE. WOO HOO... old Port Orleans. Fun.

Trip #5 - First trip with DD - just turned 3.... not totally potty trained, still wants a bottle at night, really wants that pacifier in bed... very interesting packing trip! :lmao: old Dixie Landings... buses way too crowded with a stroller! But, still WONDERFUL to see things through the eyes of a 3 year old. She played hide-n-seek with Tigger, Donald Duck danced with her, and Snow White cried because DD was so happy to meet her, she kept hugging her! :cloud9:

Trip #6 - Different places to see, new house to buy, jobs to change... took us 10 years to return!! DD was 12 and a great age to be able to "do everything". Went to Sea World one day and relived that horrible HOT HOT HOT day in August my first trip down! Had to call my sister from the pool to tell her "things haven't changed in 20 years!!!" :rotfl: The Dolphin was fabulous and I can't WAIT to return.

Trip #7 - Dolphin this June.... DH gets an employee discount sometimes - depends on availability - so I took a chance and the rate is great. DD thought it would be fun to go back and just "hit the highlights" instead of doing the whirlwind tour like last year. Sounds good to me! :cool1:
My sister's family looks like they will be offsite around the same time, so we will meet up for a day in Magic Kingdom.
