Diser's for CMO!

Oh man if I have to wait until January I'll just go crazy!!! But hey, if it's going to be a sweet deal, then I guess I won't really mind the wait! Well, only 11 more months to go! WOOOHOOOO!

P.S. I don't think I would mind spending the rest of my days on a cruise ship... but to be honest, I think I'd much rather live in the bathroom in Cinderella's Castle Suite... but I guess there is still chance of drowning... hmm, I'm going to have to think long and hard about this.

I agree with the other DCL posts on not worrying too much about hurricane season (the ship just goes around the weather). However, I almost blew off of Castaway Cay (Disney's private island) the day we were there and my kiddos and I got enough sand in our eyes, mouth and hair to create our own beach back here in Colorado!

NOTE TO SELF: If the wind is blowing over 70mph...stay in the shelter of the cruise ship and enjoy a sand-free tropical drink by the pool.

is any one eligible for the CMO position and what do you have to do to get it. It sounds amazing

The job does sound amazing, which is a large part of the reason this thread has really taken off -- with so many "groupies" checking in on the progress of our semifinalists. (That, and the fact that the conversation while waiting has become a lot of fun! There are a lot of really cool people here! :goodvibes )

Sadly (for you), the application process already has ended. Entrants submitted videos and "mini" essays for consideration by the judges. About 1300 people applied. The group was whittled down to 20 semifinalists, who recently participated in phone interviews with the judges. Now, we simply wait for the results. At that point, the Top 10 will launch campaigns to secure votes. From there the Top Three (and their morale "boosters") will fly to Disney World to participate in a battery of reality-show-style contests, which the public will watch in order to pick an all-time favorite. Only one will win this coveted position.

(Whew! 'Just writing all of that makes me a bit dizzy. Imagine how the semifinalists must feel. What a whirlwind! Well, except for the looooong waiting part...)

Here's a link to a recent LA Times blog article, which features many of the semifinalists. (Some are still a "Mystery," believe it or not).

http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/?p=1348

Happy reading! And, feel free to check back here for updates on the contest!

(Edited to add a second link to the semifinalists' profiles: http://travel.latimes.com/daily-deal-blog/?p=1355 )

Nope! 'Cuz that would mean that I'm going crazy, too! (Yesterday, when I took my last bite of Cheerios, I noticed a "Hidden Mickey" on my spoon. Only three "O"s were left, and they aligned themselves in the perfect Mickey formation... :) ) I ate them anyway. :rolleyes1

Hiya Folks:

Most of the posts on page 112 aren't showing up, so wanted to throw out the question again. I think I may be going a bit "Goofy" waiting for the Top 10 announcement (seeing Hidden Mickey's EVERYWHERE...in the carpet at our local aquarium, a mickey-shaped chocolate milk stain on my son's pillow, etc.)! New HMs spotted...the Cheerios example above and even a cactus shaped like a Hidden Mickey!

IS ANYONE ELSE SEEING HIDDEN MICKEY'S IN THEIR EVERYDAY LIFE? DO TELL! If, however, you think some of us truly ARE going crazy...please keep that to yourself. :rotfl:

Here's some other videos that some of the finalists from 2007 enjoyed...

Thanks for the honor of being included in this list. It was fun to see a few new ones too that were really great. I still think that the wizard and maybe the guy who let the balloons go might be some of the "others" that we haven't found out about yet (creating magic for others...I am surprised no one else thought of that). I would have thought Jenn's video too if she hadn't already told us she didn't get a call.

Ohhh I am getting so nervous for you finalists...I recall it was a wednesday last time when we all starting hanging out in here as calls were going out!

Can't wait to see who makes it and I am crossing my fingers for you guys and gals!!!!

It's not you, I think we are all crazy in here :rotfl2: I am still thinking about this contest and talking about it almost everyday and I am not even a finalist. This contest has given me the "fever." I need to plan a trip to the parks!

Yes - the day we made our video and I changed clothes in our bathroom I looked at our curtains in there. They are rosebuds and look really nice. When I looked closer I notices they are hidden Mickey's. I had to laugh.

I have no doubt they are **fill in the blank** about this thread...

- laughing at us
- agreeing with us
- chuckling with us
- amazed that we are obsessing about this (esp those of us who didn't make top 20)
- learning from us
- ignoring us

anyone else want to fill in the blank?

OK, going to bed...will check with you all tomorrow

I'm thinking that -- at various points -- the Disney/CB "suits" have done a little bit of all of the above. ... Except for that last one. I mean, how could they possibly ignore us? ;) (Of course, the Tag Fairy has successfully managed to do so this entire time... :rolleyes1 )

I'd also like to add another option to the list: "I have no doubt they are amazed at our incredible stamina." Seriously folks: This little thread has now reached 121 pages, and this will be our 1809th post!! Impressive!

Which brings me to my next question: Marshay, you alluded to this earlier... Does anyone know at what point the moderators close the long threads? We should probably make all necessary provisions... I'd be going crazy if this thread suddenly just disappeared -- especially so close to another announcement!

I would totally go into withdrawal if this thread dies!! We have to start a new one if this is closed.

And, at the the time, I bet you halfway considered it a [promising] "sign"! (I can almost hear it now: "I'm in! I'm in! I mean I must be ... because Mickey is speaking to me [through my bathroom curtains]!" ;) ) Yes, such are the ramblings of a Disney-fanatical madwoman!! :)

Side Note: Before you think I'm quick to judge, refer to my earlier confession about the "Hidden Mickey" in my bowl of Cheerios... Yep, I rest my case! :flower3:

I honestly GASPED at the thought of this thread going away! :scared1:

I look for my video in the links of other's favorites (hasn't happened yet) ........ every Disney commercial is a "sign" for me that they are still trying to "find" me .......... wasn't it a mere two weeks ago this very hour that we were ALL still in the running?!

Maybe they are still trying to find a support staff for the CMO??!! Oh, the 20 selected would probably fit that profile.........hmmmmmmm.........

Well, at least I still have this thread........and for self-preservation, I include my own video in my list of favorites and just know those who are not top 20 OR favorites of other's.....you made my list too!

Yep, DIS rules changed recently to threads closing at 250 pages. The Moderator will give the OP a warning (in this case LuvsTink) and then any one of us can start a new thread. Any pages that we want in the new thread will need to be copied over. This CMO thread will then be locked (can view only but not comment).

Whoa, what? I guess I'm still new at this. They close down long threads? Why? Do they take up too much space? This is one of the most participated in threads going - will they reallly stop it?

Hey, Justin, I updated my earlier reply so you might want to check that out.

DIS recently ran a test with the long threads and found out that they were really slowing down the boards. Thus the new rule.

And as far as the most participated thread going -- nope, not even close...there are plenty of others! :goodvibes

Thanks! I think I'm caught up now. Oh - I know it's not THE most participated in thread, but it at least makes the list, right? Some of the photo threads and such seem to go on for months! (but I love scroll through all those pictures! What a wonderful way to pass some time!)

It's cool. I've never moderated or been in charge of a forum, so I completely trust the leaders here! I certainly don't want things to slow down:surfweb:

Yep, I love the picture threads too, I've gotten some great wallpapers from those. :tink: Besides that, sometimes, all it takes is one picture to make you smile and feel like you're actually there!

Hey, look at your avatar!!

YUCK!! Little man (DS2) just puked on the sun-room area rug. (I thought he was acting a little too subdued this morning... And, to think that I had recently congratulated myself that the rest of my family had escaped "the ick"! :sad2:)

Fortunately for me, DH was home at the time, so we "bonded" over the experience of picking vomit chunks out of our carpet. (Yay! Fun! ) Ick! I'm truly sorry for that lovely visual... :flower3:

Sooooo, Amanda, are you still excited about starting a family? (That mental image -- above -- could prove a very effective form of birth control... ;) ) Your boyfriend is (partly) right. Little kids do tend to slow down the pace. (For example, it probably wouldn't be as easy to jet off to Tokyo Disneyland to get your overseas "fix.") It's really not all bad, though. There's truly something special about experiencing Disney magic through the eyes of a child, who is seeing everything for the first time! Can't beat it! :thumbsup2

Hmmmm..... If things on this thread get a little slow -- and the wait for another announcement becomes too long -- we could always start a little word game. How about synonyms for the word "puke." (There are actually quite a few good ones, really). And, in honor of my recent experience, I'll get things started:

-Puke
-Ralph
-Hurl
-Blow Chunks
-"Bomit" (This mispronunciation came from my DD when she was a toddler.)

Oh, and I won't be a bit hurt if nobody chooses to play -- given the subject matter! :rotfl: It has the potential to become a very long list, though...
