Disembarkation times

We did express walkoff on our April cruise and will from now on. We skipped the rush of a final breakfast and opted to grab something at the airport instead, enjoying a low key last hour in our cabin. I may next time keep some cliff bars in our bag for this time or snag donuts the afternoon before. We were the 2nd or 3rd family off the boat and walked on to DCL transportation (San Juan).

We were in the first batch of characters called and were off the boat by 745 and on a DCL bus by 8? I think? I don't know what line we ended up in at customs, we just followed the porter who had our luggage. But I swear it took longer for us to find all the luggage then get through customs.

Downside was we waited on that resort transfer bus for an hour 🤦‍♀️ . Next year we're just going back to either MCO or the Hyatt, and I think those busses just leave as they fill up.

We are renting a vehicle when we get to Florida two days prior to the cruise and we will have it at the port. Based on everyone's responses here all I'm gonna need to do is lineup in the atrium at 7 AM with our luggage, exit the ship once we get the all clear, go through the facial recognition section of the customs process, and make our way to the parking garage to get in the car. Hopefully I will be able to get all of this completed before 9 AM and be on the road heading for Magic Kingdom.

We always walk off early and we stay in a regular cabin - lowest veranda. It is nice to avoid the long lines and the wait at customs. However, we use DCL transportation back to WDW and the bus will not leave until after 9a so we sit on that bus for over an hour and then we're usually one of the final stops at WDW. We had one bus driver who said he was dropping us first because we had arrived at the bus first. So yes, we waited over an hour but at least we were the first hotel stop. I wish they'd go back to the days where the early disembarks were placed in small vans and driven to their hotel. That was nice.

I don't even remember there being a line at customs, I think we hit it at just the right moment between when all the self disembarkers walked off and before a lot of the guests departed.

But we are doing express checkout so we will be with the group thaat leaves first while others are eating. I am sure there will be some sort of line. :( I just hope it is short.

If I may add another customs/debarkation question: I'm considering getting some tequila in Cozumel when I sail next week on the Fantasy. Never bought any alcohol before on cruises but want to this time and remember before Covid the blue customs forms. Do I still need to fill something out to bring the tequila back into the U.S.? And how does the alcohol purchase affect my ability to do the facial recognition? I think I would have to "declare" the alcohol in person right? So no quick facial recognition line for me? Any info would be appreciated.

Bring back the allowed, custom-free, 1liter amount.

If CBP requires a form, DCL will distribute. It has the place for declaring purchases.

I don’t remember filling out the form last year. But also can’t remember when was the last time. And I sailed 5 times last year.

But you shouldn’t have to step out of line or go through special line if you don’t exceed purchase limits.

Our past few cruises they have announced that you only have to complete the form if you have something to declare. If you don't exceed the allowances, you don't have to declare it.
