A similar fate, although I don't think I will have the large tuition bills. I have explained to them that the ROI on a college diploma, or several of them even, is probably not a good investment at this point. I've advised them to get training in something so they can feed themselves first and if at LAST they want to go on to college, they can work they way through it.
DS is a sophomore in high school and we are already looking at schools. He scored really high on his PSAT testing so have gotten a lot of interest from colleges already. I think the leader in the clubhouse right now is Providence. We'll see if that changes as it's early in the process. I have had the college vs. career talk with DD13 as she is not all that fond of schooling, is really creative and would seem happier doing something more abstract.
