Hey Lesley! I'm home from our trip now...I was on the look out for you, but never saw you. How 'bout that rain we had there on Tuesday?! Ugh! I did notice the crowds getting worse by then too.

Hope you had a great trip too, sorry we didn't run into one another. The rain on Tuesday was MISERABLE because it was Laurens BBB day- talk about horrible timing! But I'd rather be wet in Disney than hot in Disney that's for sure! Crowds were CRAZY here yesterday!

I agree too, we've stayed at 3 DVC resorts so far and they are all so different. But I've loved each one!

Lesley, glad you're having a good time!

I've only been in the two, AKL being the favorite by FAR but SSR isn't all bad, it's a nice Disney resort, LOVE the pools and transportation has been great!

Have fun hanging around the resort! It's so nice to just take time and relax, have you checked out the evening movies at the pool?

We had a great morning just relaxing - Chef Mickey's for dinner tonight. We haven't seen the movies by the pool yet, cancelled two nights we were here due to weather and the other night we were swimming with Diane and her family at Grandstand.

When we went about 5 years ago during that time period, we did a water park on the 4th and 'Ohana (with ressies) for dinner. We were late for our ressie b/c we had trouble getting past the gates since the MK was closed to new entries and they were turning people away! There wasn't even parking at the Poly and they did comp valet since we had a ressie. We were able to see and hear the fireworks during dinner. And the waterpark was not mad crowded.

I have ressies for OHana on the 4th but think I'm cancelling, I don't want to mess with the crowds. We shall see : ) Nice to have the flexibility

Glad to read your updates. So sorry about Tim's knee!! Maybe taking a few days away from the parks will help. You cannot wait to write your TR & I cannot wait to read it!! I remember sitting on my deck last summer reading your TR from last year. Enjoy the rest of your time there!!

I agree, taking it easy will certainly help. I love writing TR's although it's going to be hard since when we get home we're home for 8 days and then leave for a week iin Grand Haven, but I'll get it done, I always do : )

Wait til you see the crowd pics I took yesterday, insane! Thanks, we really are. It was nice relaxing by the pool this a.m. SO hot here today!!! Couldn't imagine being in a park today in the crazy heat and the crowds, no thank you!

Happy Fourth! I can't blame you for not hitting the parks. I can only imagine how bad it is. But your vacation is long enough that you can easily take a few lounging at the pool days and still do a lot. You may actually like having a few down days. I'm sure Tim's knee will like it! I just can't wait to hear all about your trip. We want to go back SOOOO bad!

So far so good, enjoying our pool time - change of plans for tonight that I'll share with the TR - should be fun- still trying to avoid the crowds.
To answer the question about SSR's activities for the kids compared to AKL, AKL has FAR more activities but SSR does have some. They have pool parties, movies by the pool, lots of craft activities but you have to pay for all of them, they have game cubes set up which Luke loves for free (we did that once) and one night a week a Wii party but we haven't done that (yet). They also do a pony race around the lobby daily but we haven't done that yet either.
Well, gotta run, this vacation has been amazing, Tim and I feel that this time when we leave we'll finally have that feeling of no regrets, we got to do/see so much it has just been amazing. We leave on Wednesday, so we want to hit each park one more time (starting tomorrow).
Can't wait to share all of our experiences with you!

Glad to hear you seem to be taking advantage of more park activies - that has been our goal as well the last couple trips and will continue to be for the next several. Up until buying DVC we were always park warriors but have since learned to take it a little slower. This includes enjoying the resort amenities much more.
Amelia loved the pony race around the lobby -- I think Lauren might enjoy it but Luke might feel too "big" for it. I don't know. You'll have to see it and try for yourself.

Have a great time hitting your last round of parks! I'll be curious to hear your report on the crowds post-holiday.

Wow! I just heard on the news that the monorail crashed at WDW and killed someone. I just caught the end of the story, so I don't know anything else. That is just awful though. Hope you guys are ok and still enjoying your trip.

I Just read that, too

It was 2am last night and it was one of the drivers that was killed.

So tragic

It is a very sad thing to happen in such a wonderful place. And it couldn't have happened at a worse time being during the July 4th holiday. I wonder if the CM could have fallen asleep or something with it being that late. I read that there are lots of safety precautions on the monorail to avoid that sort of thing, so I wonder what happened. Very sad, no matter what.
