Discounts

We got every single PIN code for about 3 years straight, but haven't seen one now for about a year and a half. We always ended up booking with the public FD offer anyway.

I used to get the most mailings when I would price hypothetical trips.. try different level resorts, different arrival dates, maybe a different season.. Then come back a few days later and try it again but this time pricing rooms like I'm bringng an extended family and then maybe I'll see some emails, I'll click those links and price again.. then the snail mail starts to arrive every week or so with offers not on the website. Basically look like your trying to figure out when and how to afford it and it triggers in their systems that your thinking of going and they try to nudge you off the cliff with some offers.

So basically what you're saying is price out a trip, but don't go through booking it?

I know we do that a lot to see how much things are going to cost, maybe that's what it is. That also says to me not to book a trip out too far in advance either.

I have received more pin codes this year than I have ever seen! I actually booked with one, and then got a second for the same time frame that was better, so I upgraded resorts. Now, I have gotten a third for the same time frame! I have also seen more offers for the middle of summer than I have ever seen before. I definitely agree that there are more discounts this year than previous years.

many online stores do that, especially tech sites. don't forget to be logged in so they know it's you looking around.

Yeah, i priced something out this morning, then realized i wasn't logged in, so i went back and did it again after i logged in LOL.

I am always logged in and play around on the disney site with different vacation, dates, resorts. I put things in my cart leave them there for a while, I even order the travel DVD and I have never received a pin code. I guess I am not lucky. Has anyone received a PIN for free dining in the fall? Just wondering if they are out there maybe my luck will change.

So last Monday is when I posted i logged in and priced a vacation, Thursday when I got home from work there was an offer in my mail box.

I don't know if that's coincidence or not, but it doesnt sound like it to me.

Thanks for the heads up!

I received my second pin code on Saturday. I'm not exactly sure how I was chosen to receive it? I have an account and have visited the site multiple times almost every day to play around with different packages and dates. Maybe that has something to do with it? I've gotten about a dozen emails reminding me of items left in my cart. I just go in and empty and cart then try out another promo. I've been trying to add days to our September trip under the FD promo. This is appearing to be an impossible feat.

I agree 100% with this. I believe this is how I received the two I have gotten. I have items in the cart to price a trip.

The current pin mailing appears to be free extras on your park tickets (hopper, etc)...

I think there is cycles in what they are offering. Last fall I got no mailings after they announced osbourne lights were going away and people were packing the resorts without additional discount help. I don't think the awaken summer promo is getting as many as they hopped and now they are doing an aggressive mailing with pin codes for little extras that really doesn't change how much disney is spending for the parks to be opened. I've heard most are getting a free ticket upgrade to park hoppers or waterparks. i've also heard it can be combined with everything except the free dining.

When disney wants more butts in the seats, they get aggressive.

Despite traveling to WDW and DL for over 20 years and even traveling with ABD, I never received a single one until last week for a date for which some of our family was already going to WDW. Coincidence? I don't know. I just wish I could take advantage of it, but I will be elsewhere in the world when the applicable dates are available to me.
