I read somewhere that there is a discount for AAA members? Can someone provide me with some information on this? I'm looking into possibly giving my husband this as a gift for his birthday. The one I'm looking into getting him is the Rookie Experience? Anyone out there that has done this was it worth it and was it the thrill of a life time??

Thanks for your help! :flower:

:cheer2: I'd like to know, too...as I am thinking about getting them for my husband and two adult sons. Whew...that is a lot of money....but, when I asked my husband what he thought of it...he said it would be an experience of a life time....

Several months ago I did the Petty Rookie experience at the Kansas Speedway. I LOVED it. I enjoyed the expereince so much that I would pay to do it again and now writing this I am getting excited about our August trip to WDW and wanting to race at the disney speedway. The only discounts that I know of is for large groups and for returning customers. They give a 10% discount to any returning racer.

The only thing that could have been better would be to book a longer run.

If you get the Orlando MagiCard, you get a 10% discount.

Also, if you have an entertainment book, there's a 10% discount there as well.

I believe AAA has a discount. Last I heard it was 20%.

DH did this last March and loved it. I suprised him w/ the rookie expierence. He really enjoyed it. I'm hoping to get it again for him at our next, next trip. I know he wants to do the one at Daytona so bad--- he said he was thinking of getting a 2nd job (the driving exp at Daytona is considerably more than at WDW).

I have DH signed up for this next month :moped: I have AAA and told the very nice woman on the phone and received a discount:
Cost: 379.00 + tax (24.64) - 20% disc (80.73) = $322.91

She didn't even ask me for my AAA card number. Can't wait for DH to do this!

I gave my SO the Rookie Experience for Christmas. I booked it with the Orlando Magic Card and received a 10% discount. He did the drive last month and loved it, and he really isn't the type to get overly excited about anything, so in my opinion it was worth every penny.

I also did the Ride Along last month. It was a blast and they offered it for $20 off if you were there with someone who was doing one of the driving experiences.

My husband wants to do the Daytona track also. Does anyone know if the AAA discount is good for all the RP Driving Experience tracks? :wave2:

You can get discounts with both AAA and an Annual Pass.

I've posted this before, but will post it again so hopefully no one else gets burned. If you book this, book it for early in your vacation. I booked it in January as a surprise for my son and it rained that day. Once we got there we were told it was cancelled and was nonrefundable. If you were still going to be at WDW for a few days they tried to reschedule you, but if you were like us and leaving the next day, you either got a raincheck to be used at a RPDE near you or if you didn't have a RPDE near you, you simply lost your money. We were lucky and my son will be doing it in April at the Texas Motor Speedway, but we have to pay extra, since they will not honor the AP discount we used to pay for it at WDW. Some people just lost their money because they didn't have a RPDE near them, including one man who had booked the Experience of a Lifetime and lost over $1,000.00. They were really mad.

Anyway book it for the early part of your vacation or else make sure you have a RPDE near you that is available at a time you can do it. RPDE is at the Texas Motor Speedway for only a few days in April and a few days in July, so if it rains my son out again in April, he will have one more chance in July, or else we will lose the money I paid.

Is that for any track or just the one at WDW (AAA discount)? Anyone??

About the no refund policy - I'm really surprised to hear about all those people losing that money. I had surprised my DH with the Rookie Experience as his Christmas gift for our December trip. He was so looking forward to it. As luck would have it, he got sick the night before he was scheduled and could barely get out of bed, never mind drive a race car. Anyway, he called and explained the situation, tried to rebook but they had no openings the rest of our trip. They offered him either a certificate good for 1 year or a complete refund. He wasn't sure if we would be back within a year (silly man  - I'm already planning), so he asked for the refund. It was credited to my credit card before we even returned home. He was so disappointed but getting the money back made it easier to deal with.

But I agree, schedule it early in the trip just in case it is cancelled for some reason. It really stinks to miss out!
