Discounted ticket rules with date based?

Hi all, I searched on the ticket thread but did not see the "rules" for date based tickets if you have to change your trip. There is a nice discount from one of the board sponsors on tickets that would save me a bit for our December trip. What happens if I have to change the trip for some reason to different dates and I have date based discounted tickets?

I believe you might be able to change them and pay the difference in price. If the price goes down, I don't think you get a refund. Best advice is to contact the vendor selling the tickets and ask, none of us can determine their policies.

You may be able to go back through the reseller to adjust the ticket dates. ASK them what their policy is.

If you have to adjust the dates through WDW:
  • the credit will be equal to the price WDW sold the same ticket online on the same date you purchased from the reseller -- so I suggest checking WDW's site at the time you do the purchase and make note of the price (and you may realize the stated "savings" isn't as much as quoted)
  • if the new dates cost less or you shorten the trip to fewer days, do not expect a refund -- this is especially important since you mention a December trip which is usually the most expensive tickets
  • if the new dates cost more or you lengthen the trip, you will owe the difference at the time you make the change

I guess that's what I'm wondering, the reseller dates are the dates, but other posts I've seen say once they're added to My Disney Experience, it doesn't matter and they become just like normal tickets and can be used as you explained like a credit if needed (I just don't want to lose my money altogether if trip has to be delayed). Am I understanding that right?

Call the seller, we can all speculate and look at past experiences, but we don't know what the deal is between the seller and Disney. I don't think the argument "well, this is what XXX told me on the DisBoards" will hold up. It's a lot of money, talk to the source and get it in writing.

There’s a pinned thread about tickets in the theme park attractions and strategies board and the people here who have any shot of knowing the answer are far more likely to be hanging out there than here.

I’d suggest re-asking in that thread

I contacted the reseller and they said it’s up to Disney. As Sandi said, I know I’ve heard of people doing this before and I did check the ticket sticky, but I did not see this specific question answered so figured I’d ask my super knowledgeable DVC board.

Thanks all!

You won't lose your money. You are correct that the tickets from an authorized reseller are exactly the same as the ones sold directly by Disney. If you find you need to adjust the dates prior to arrival (for example if airfare is better to arrive on Wed. instead of Fri.), Disney may tell you to go back through the reseller. If something pops up and the trip gets cancelled, completely unused tickets in your MDE will not lose their value. I suggest keeping the receipt from the reseller and making a note of the ticket number(s) and value (look up the value on WDW's site); tickets will disappear from your view in MDE after the expiration date but CMs can see it for the credit.

Thank you! Very helpful.
