Discounted Annual Passes

Help me with the concept of bridging. We arrive 9/22. If I buy a 10 day park hopper for $399 can I exchange the ticket on 10/1 (the last day of the tix) for the PAP essentially for free? And for my kids I would just pay the difference between the 10 day hopper ($380) and the $399 PAP?

I recently bought the regular APs which we are going to activate in November. I just called Member Services to see if I could "upgrade" on 10/1 to the Premium and get this deal and was told I could not. I can buy them and hold them to use next year, which I will consider doing but that's still a whole lot of money to spend while I'm trying to save for THIS trip. Anyway, just wanted to pass that along to anyone else who might be wondering. I wish I had waited just a few more weeks!!!

I am considering the same thing.. only they have my 1,500$ already DOHHH!

Those of you who have purchased APs this summer, you are not alone. I purchased approximately $2000 in APs in June. At least it sounds like they are throwing us a bone by allowing us to "redeem" them before 12/31/13, meaning our current APs would expire and we can then use the deal for the following year. But here's the kicker... we were planning DL/Aulani in Summer 13, and no WDW trip. Now I may have to squeeze in a WDW trip between 6/1/13 and 12/31/13 just because I can purchase tickets at such a discounted price. The logic is wonderful, I know!!! And that is why Disney is Disney! They keep us planning trips we wouldn't have taken but for the offers!

I think we all understand and use the same logic!!!
So true!!!:thumbsup2

This will be my first real trip to WDW for the Wine and Dine 1/2 marathon in November and we will be spending 10 days in the parks. This offer is only $24 more than a 10 day park hopper and with the discounts would be worth it. We are DL AP holders but I don't know if we will be returning to WDW in 2013 but may in 2014.

If we were to purchase a 2nd voucher to be activated before 12/31/13, do you have to be in the park to activate it, or can you do it from home?

I'm all about details, so is the $399.00 price tax inclusive? or is tax added to that price

This works so well for us, I purchased DH a 6 day ticket from Under Cover Toursit with the plan of upgrading it to renew his DVC AP Oct. 1st. Then my DVC Ap expires Jan. 3, so I can renew this year for this fantastic deal! Wahoo!

Hm... was going to just buy passes next summer and skip a year building our point inventory back up... but I think a better option would be to buy the PAPs for us and bite the bullet and buy more points while booking 2 more stays during the next 11 months. :goodvibes I need a raise...

According to Cheshire Figment (ticket guru) normal upgrade rules apply. So the answer to your question would be yes. Also if you buy the 10day PH from UT you'll save more money. Adult ticket with tax is $380.95 and child ticket with tax is $364.95. According to price bridging - you use the ticket at least once and then upgrade. Or in your case use it for your trip and then upgrade at the end - but before all the days are used up. You will get credit for the gate price of the ticket and then pay the difference from that.

adult UT $380.95 / adult gate $399.38 / DVC-PAP $424.94 (with tax) / pay the difference of $24 to upgrade = savings of $18

child UT $364.95 / child gate $380 / DVC-PAP $424.94 (with tax) / pay the difference of $45 to upgrade = savings of $15

I thought the rules were for new only and not upgrades. Is there something about the UT tickets that makes it a different situation?

You are still buying a NEW PAP but you can upgrade from a current MYW ticket. As long as you do it in the alloted time frame. This is how the normal upgrades work and Cheshire Figment said "normal upgrade rules apply". You CANNOT however upgrade an existing AP into the special priced PAP - as several people have been reporting after speaking to member services.

I thought smeone said above that they must be activated before the end of the year TOO.

Your solution would work for me. I'm just confused about wheather it can be done or not.

must be activated by 12/31/2013, not 2012

This is almost exactly what I want to do. I want to use my UT ticket on 9/30/12.
Then upgrade it to a PAP on 10/1/12. I am hoping this will work, as the starting date of the new PAP would be pushed back into September. I wonder if that would be allowed.

I would think that it will not work. Your AP would be back dated to the start of your ticket which puts it not in the timeframe of the purchase guidelines. If this worked, then anyone who bought an AP prior to Oct. 1 should also be able to upgrade to the new ticket. I keep hoping that folks holding regular APs will be able to upgrade when this promotion starts because we just bought an AP 3 weeks ago and while I can buy a new one it won't be activated until October 2013. I guess we will all have to wait until after Oct. 1 to see how this all works out. I don't really put too much stock into what MS CMs say -- I'm waiting for CM CF to chime in. But until it begins we will be just speculating.

Thanks for all the info. We were set to renew our DVC AP in Jan but this looks like a better deal.

Please remind me...how much is it to renew a DVC AP?

Thanks

$385. I renewed mine a few weeks before this came out, but won't pick it up until December. I call Member services and I can upgrade it and pay the $14 when I go pick it up.:)

This would have been a great deal if we didn't already have YES tickets for our October trip. We are planning on doing another YES class in June for our trip then so these jut don't make sense for us. Hope lots of other DVCers are able to take advantage of this great offer!

If I go in December for free dining, can I use the tickets I get with it towards buying the premier AP? I would not use them this trip but buy the voucher and have first use next year.
Would I be able to do this?

Thanks for the info! Yeah definitely a better deal to do the new PAP.

I don't think so. You would be upgrading and they would be effective immediately. I don't think you can upgrade to a voucher. Once you use the MYW tickets you get with free dining, if you want to upgrade to an AP they will be backdated to the first use date.

GREAT deal, thanks for posting!

Curious - is it the same price for both adults and kids? I haven't bought AP's in over a year... I thought kids were discounted?
