Discounted Annual Passes

I recently bought the regular APs which we are going to activate in November. I just called Member Services to see if I could "upgrade" on 10/1 to the Premium and get this deal and was told I could not. I can buy them and hold them to use next year, which I will consider doing but that's still a whole lot of money to spend while I'm trying to save for THIS trip. Anyway, just wanted to pass that along to anyone else who might be wondering. I wish I had waited just a few more weeks!!!

awful timing for you. Since park tix have been increasing it's probably a better investment on the money than letting it sit in the bank. i've been sitting on a confirmation for almost two years but decided to use up many of the old MYW tix we had gathering dust. Hope they don't start putting a use-by date on them or other ticket media.

i bought a 6 day PH from UT before the price increase to hold, then use & bridge for DH. Normally i'd apply it at guest services to the AP vs calling MS to buy voucher. DVC is using the term 'certificate' which is confusing me as to whether it's an actual voucher vs the confirmation number i'm holding?

And no love for the original, DISNEYLAND, and the west coast DVC members. All we get is a very small discount ($10) on annual passes.

I had expected to see a promo for the combo DL/WDW park ticket, currently no bargin. Crunched numbers last year and it was less expensive to buy separate DL tickets for our visit.

We also arrive on the 9/29 and were planning on getting PAP's, so this is GREAT news.

I am a fairly intelligent person with a math background (CPA) and I am thoroughly confused, lol

So, if I understand this correctly, can I buy a park hopper ticket on Undercover Tourist, use it for the first 2 days (9/29 and 9/30) and then be able to apply that value to the purchase of the PAP on 10/1?????

Not meaning to look a gift horse in the mouth BUT... anyone else wishing they would offer something on regular AP's? Such as a deeper discount or the 15 months that was offered a few years ago?

Don't get me wrong, anytime our perks are increased instead of taken away I am grateful & I know that you can't please all the people all of the time but as someone who doesn't utilize the Premium features I feel left out Oh well.

They did just increase the regular AP discount from $100 to $149.

I am so excited about this! We Have been planning on Buying our first AP's ever to activate on 11/30... We have three trips planned within the next 52 weeks? We have never done DisneyQuest or the water parks as my kids haven't been tall enough for everything. This will be a great bonus to try these out!

I'm there 9/21-9/30. I'd buy a 10-day and upgrade it to the PAP, but since we leave on the 30th we won't be able to.

I wonder if it's worth asking to upgrade on the 30th??? Probably not!!! Boo!!!!

Just bought DVC AP last month for our September trip. Always a day late & dollar short.

We are in the same boat! This sucks. So basically those traveling between now and oct 1 are SOL.

Whoooo hooooo!!!! We were planning on letting our AP expire this year and skip WDW all together next year until Dec. Then go on a cruise and to MVMCP. Looks like now we will do this and then have a few days in Dec, go for spring break, 2X in the summer then in the fall of 2014. I just can't pass it up!!!! I was so mad a few hours ago that due to the kids sports schedules DH and I won't be able to get away this fall. Now I willl just spend that trip money on PAPs!!!!

OK, I'm confused and admittedly a little ticked (Go figure somebody would be mad about a perk seemingly this "good!").

My last trip started on the day before the price increase in June so I bought my PAPs for my entire family on Sat before the increase on Sunday morning. Yea me. I saved about $400. Sure beats the hell out of buying them on Sunday.

Now this comes along. I know you can't make everybody happy but $@#%! Now I could have saved another $400!

So... Obviously I don't expire until next June. Simple question, assuming there is no extension of this offer past the end of the year, is there any way for me to take advantage of this offer? For the life of me, I can't firmly deduce that from the comments thus far. I'm sure there are a bunch of us in exactly the same situation.

Has anybody heard a firm clarification from MS on this question yet? It really ought to be spelled out on the website. Maybe it is and I missed it or maybe it will be once it's formalized and past the 2 sentence pop from today.

Hmmmmm I renewed my AP in May, since I have trips in Sept and Dec and was considering going again in May 2013 before it expired, but now we are thinking of doing HH this summer.
I think I may just buy a voucher in Dec before the deal expires, not renew my AP in May and then activate the prem AP when I go to WDW in Dec 2013. This may just work out for me.

So, if you've already purchased an Annual Pass, you can still take advantage of this offer by purchasing it now (between Oct. 1 and Dec. 31, 2012), but waiting to activate it until after your current pass has expired. Passes purchased on this offer must be redeemed by December 31, 2013.

So it would seem we can buy the vouchers this year, and then activate them next year and then they are good for a year from the date we activate the voucher

From the dvcmember.com website:

This sounds like you can purchase it between 10/1/12 and 12/31/12 and hold it until you need it, as long as you activate the certificate by 12/31/13.

About 3 weeks ago, I spent 2-3 hours calculating all the various scenarios of our next 3 years of ticket needs and the types/prices of the various tickets available. This awesome offer screws up everything . . . but I love it! I guess I will need to spend some time re-calculating my next 3 years!

OK, so I'm a little confused too. If someone can suggest what we should do, I'd greatly appreciate it!

Our AP's expired on 8/27, and we have been desperately trying to figure out our plans for next year before the renewal grace period is up on 9/27. We know we won't be back this year, but are considering January 2nd. Since this offer starts 10/1, what is our best option? Let them expire and just buy the PAPs? I'm still unclear about whether we can do 2 each to get us through 2014?

Yes that is what we are all thinking, and of course you would have to buy them online or by calling and not in person. If you buy in person they are activated/redeemed immediately.

So the latest you can make this work is buy them before Dec. 31, hold the voucher until Dec. 31, 2013 and it would be good until Dec. 31. 2014.

I plan to do the same thing. Our current APs expire on 12 31 12. Instead of renewing, I plan to buy two sets of the PAPs. We will use the first set from 12 31 12 until 12 31 13 and the second set from 12 31 13 to 12 31 14.
