Here is my youngest daughter's Minnie Dot outfit for Chef Mickeys.

I also found these purple shorts at WM. I decided to make a coordinating shirt. Older DD will have pink once the 6-7 shirts come in. They are for the diaper bag.

sopheemousepurple.jpg

I also finished the Fantasmic outfit. I am conflicted about the Mickey. Do you think I should add a red bow. I am going to do red, white and blue jewels and bows that can double for the 4th of July.

sopheefantasmic002.jpg

These are all very, very cute! I love the kinda peek-a-boo detail on the bottom skirt. I've seen that on a YCMT skirt - did you use that pattern? or did you make it up? Whatever the case, this is very cute.
As for the bow on the Fantasmic outfit - could you do a bow on a pin, and then you could take it on and off? I think it's cute, but if you're going to add red, then it may be cute like that too. I'm no help, huh?

Here is what I made DD last night.
CIMG0542.jpg

I made it while she was sleeping and when I tried it on her this morning she told me she didn't like it and that it just wasn't her. She is the one who picked out the fabric and she said that she had wanted me to make her a dress with it not a jumper (she wasn't being bratty it's just not what she imagined with that fabric). So I guess I will have to buy more fabric. She wanted a dress and a pair of capris, which I had a bought a dress pattern to use with it. So I guess it is my fault. Hopefully she will change her mind when she comes home.

Ok, I got the nemo outfit done. Still have to finish Ariel.

Wow, what a difference! I thought it looked fine before, but the added embellishment really makes it pop!!

I love it! DD has a birthday party next weekend for a good friend who is heading to Disney the week after. We've been talking about making her one of the princess pillow case tops. You have me almost convinced!

What a darling skirt!! You did a great job with it!

I think the red bow would really tie the skirt and top together. If you want Mickey instead of Minnie you could do a bow tie.

Patchwork twirl w/ Disney Princess fabric that I made but I didn't make the Cinderella shirt though.

BTW the Minnie dress was a hit at the party. I saw a couple of other mom's looking in it to find the tag to see where I bought it.

Oh how cool! I knew it would be a hit! :thumbsup2

I'm not sure what kind of shirt to put with it yet. But, I'm thinking of something with a Chip applique.

This is just adorable!!! I missed out on this pattern. :sad2: May have to buy
it. :lmao:

Oh, I'm so sad that she didn't like it. It's so cute. Hopefully she has a change of heart when she gets home from school.

This is so cute! I've now made 3 of these and they've just got tons and tons of gathers on them. I like the way yours came out better. Do you do your measurements x2 for each layer or x 1.5? I do mine x2 for each layer but I'm thinking that it may be  too full!

Here is the Mulan dress I have been working on.

th_Mulan.jpg
WOW! That is FANTASTIC! I love it! Is this our first Mulan custom?? I just love the way you interpreted her costume from the movie and made it more wearable!

Gorgeous, gorgeous! I want that pattern! When I show Luke those photos of Tessa he will be jumping off furniture too (which he never does :rotfl2: ). Seeing pictures of her makes him hyper :confused3

This is so cool! I can't wait to see it on Morgan! Do the Bitty Twins get Mulan dresses too? :rotfl:

BTW the Minnie dress was a hit at the party. I saw a couple of other mom's looking in it to find the tag to see where I bought it.

When I read your comment to Tessa she said "He's the cute boy with blonde hair and the haircut." :rotfl2: Apparently, she really likes his hair!

As for Cindee making a dress for the Bitty Twins, I'm hoping to see one for poor little Jord. :sad2:

Now THAT is a compliment!! I bet you were feeling pretty good when you saw them checking for a tag! Not only did they think it was professionally done, they wanted to buy one! These are for you: :worship: :worship:

Great Job Heather!! I think you should put that cute girl chipmunk on a tee to go with it- That would be so cute- if you could find her!!
I'm not sure who the girl chipmunk is. Do you know if she has a name? I'd like to find a picture of her!

Heather this is absolutely gorgeous - My DD is a chip n dale nut :) She would love this. And your DD is so cute- I love how it looks like she is flying (she needs to be in a tink outfit next time as it is sooooo tinky ;) )
Well, since you mentioned it....;) Here's a picture of Tessa, dressed as Tink, "flying" in our backyard when she was almost 3:
b70e.jpg

I attempted shirring fabric last night to try to get dd's peasant top to fit right. Well, I tried on scraps thank goodness because it never gathered up on its own enough. I'll play with it today, read more tips and try it out again.
When I shirred the last outfit, it didn't gather up on it's own very much until I hit it with some steam from the iron. If you don't have an iron with steam, just getting it a little wet with hot water should work.

That Minnie outfit is absolutely darling!!! That's similar to what I was thinking of making for Tessa.
I love the fantasmic outfit, too. I like Shannon's idea of putting a ribbon on with a pin so you can remove it if you want to.

I think it's very pretty! Isn't it dissapointing when they don't like something you've made for them? I hope she has a change of heart when she gets home.

That looks great...love the little Nemo applique on it.

Your dd is very pretty!!

Wow..I love the skirt. I have the pattern on my wish list. My dd just saw the picture of your dd jumping/flying and said "I want to jump just like that!!"

Love the Mulan outfit. The fabric are all cotton? Are they broadcloth? They look like they have a shine to it. My kids have very sensitive skin, so I can only use 100% cotton for them.

I really, really like the outfit for Chef Mickey! It's perfect...the fantasmic skirt is beautiful too!

Here is what I made DD last night.

I think it is beautiful..sorry that dd didn't like it. Maybe she will change her mind.

Love the patchwork skirt..did it take long to make? I have been wanting to make one.

Here is the Mulan dress I have been working on.

th_Mulan.jpg

This is really cool. Looks like Mulan, but a bit more wearable than a replica would be.

Yeah, yeah, me again! Photobucket is working at the moment, so here's the skirt I finished this morning. This is CarlaC's scaloppini skirt. I think it turned out really cute! Tessa is fresh from the shower.
It's not as short as the 2nd picture makes it look. It rode up when she raised her arms.

Too cute! I love the ribbons.

Of course it was a hit! That's cool about the mom's looking for a tag.

Try steaming the shirring with your iron. It'll draw up quite a bit.

Since I couldn't get on the boards last night I snooped around in the bookmarks. :) I found this tute for gathering with clear elastic. http://www.indietutes.blogspot.com/2007/07/gathering-with-clear-elastic.html I've never seen such a thing! Where do you find clear elastic? It looks like it would take the tedious work out of hand gathering my ruffles.
I read that tute and got all excited to find some clear elastic, too. Now it's about 5 months later and I've yet to see any clear elastic! If anyone knows where to find it, I'd be interested, too!

Wow you guys are great! I saw the tip about steaming the shirring and Boy did that WORK! :thumbsup2 :worship: Its not quite right yet but hey this was my first try. The steam made a world of difference. I tried the method in the Sewing for Dummies book with the adding tape. Does anyone else do it this way?

now I have to stop playing around and get my kids off to school!!! :teacher:

I'm totally going to hunt for some clear elastic. I've used 1/4 inch clear elastic on hats for my dd's dance recitals and competitions. I got it at Joann's. Not sure if there was anything skinnier there.

OK, I didn't like this pattern when I first saw it, but now that I have seen this skirt, I need it! It's too cute:)

Also, I already asked this question a few pages back, and I think it got overlooked, but how do you taper the stitches on an applique? I just don't know if there is an easier way than the way I figured.
