OK, so I'm half done and here's the proof!! I took a bit of an easy option compared to the creations I know some of you will make, but they've still tested me. Sorry about the rubbish photography but me and the camera aren't seeing eye to eye at the minute!

Here's number one:

Picture171-1.jpg

Picture172-1.jpg

And number two - I was trying to be original and different on this but I guess you can't reinvent the mickey head!!

Picture169-1.jpg

Picture170-1.jpg

Now - have a made a mitake with the ricrac? The t-shirt is really set at the bottom now and has lost its stretch. The t-shirt is size 6-7 so hopefully will fit but would you take it off again? mmm I don't know.........

I finished my BIG GIVE OUTFIT!!!!!
Here it is:

As you can see, the applique is not perfect, but hopefully good enough. Tinka Belle is making another set of bows as my bowmaking skills are NOT great!!!

Big Give Outfit

It's hanging a little askew and it could use a little ironing. I used Carla's Simply Sweet halter dress pattern and easy fit pants. Isabelle said she liked this fabric and it was one I knew I could find. I did the adjustable/buttonhole elastic in the waist again and this time I made a buttonhole for it to stick out of on the inside of the waistband. I'm getting better at that!

princessmom29, I would love to make a bracelet to match your cute outfit. Let me know if you don't have one.
I love these and can not wait to see the rest of the big give outfits.

So I found this fabric at walmart today.

I am going to make dresses for my 2 DD's it looks easy it will be my first thing to sew. I need to decide if I want to do the straps with ribbon and find some ribbon to match or use the extra material from DD #2's dress to make straps for. I am considering going back and getting some to make me a top to match. What do you all think?

Here is the outfit that I have been working on for days. I know that Rara has been waiting forever to see this. It is a M2M gymbo. The shirt is gymbo and I am going to make Russell a matching shirt and pants. Well here it is.

WOW, you continue to amaze me!! The applique is FABULOUS!

:listen: Is this guy new? I don't recall seeing him before. Anyhoo The Fancy Nancy outfit is done! Well, with the exception of accessories! Ella was THRILLED (even though she doesn't look it in the pics.) Oh, and for the record - I'm not apologizing for her hair, I'm EXPLAINING that she was fresh up from a nap, so it's a little disheveled, to say the least.

Now I just need to make the accessories and figure out the party decorations and cake!

ETA: I should add that the skirt is the wrap skirt from YCMT and the top is Carla's peasant top, but shirred instead of elastic casing.

OK, I will NOT be CASEing you, rather I might HIRE you to make one for Little!!!:thumbsup2

My model finally woke up. She was somewhat cooperative...kinda...lol...

This is a hundred times cuter ON(it might just be her!) and it was pretty gosh darn cute before!

SHANNON!!! I am terrible disappointed that somewhere in the deep recesses of your brain you did not recognize JHAMMY'S OOAK creation. :bitelip: I'll expect you to take better notes next time so you don't make something this cute ever again, unless it is completely original and unique!!

Hi Everyone,

Questions for those with American Girl Dolls or Bitty Babies.....I'd love to get Eliz and Hannah one for their birthdays in a few weeks, but I cant afford to get the real thing as much as I'd like to. So, does anyone know of something simliiar that could wear the same clothes and stuff as the AGD or BB does???? I was thinking it would be so cute to have their outfits (I got some cupcake fabric from Joanns) match their doll's outfits....any advice??

Hearing about all of the Big give projects is just wonderful -

LOVE all the recent projects - so fun!!!

Prayers to those having surgery and who are sick....

Here is one more set of pj's I made for Noah this weekend. Thanks for letting me share - I don't get to do much for him but he loves all the items I make him and proudly tells everyone his mom made them. :)
DSC_3091.jpg
All of your PJ's are so cool! Great job.
OK. I need HELP! I am going to throw my sewing machine out the window. Seriously. I don't think there's any talking me out of it. I just got it out of the shop about a week ago. I paid $108 replacing the bobbin case, having it serviced, etc. The stupid thing WON'T WORK! The thread keeps getting caught under the feed dogs, and won't let the bobbin thread pull up. I've not even completed the first outfit on it since I had it serviced. I'm SO MAD!

I think I'm just gonna buy a new machine. I want a GOOD ONE! I don't want to buy a new machine every 6 months. I want a machine that is going to hold up and let me sew a lot. Any suggestions for a GOOD machine?

ETA: The machine that is about to fly out the window currently is the Brother XR7700.
Seriously, don't throw it out the window. I think you should take it back to the shop.
As for a good machine, I have a Singer that I have had for over 5 years and is still going strong. My new Singer Futura is fabulous! I like Singer machines personally.
HS and TJ

Thanks again for the people who sent good thoughts this way. I'm happy to say that Papa Tom is with it again. They still don't know what's wrong (Scott thinks it's an infection) but at least he knows who he is again. so next step is to figure out the infection and then hopefully he'll be on the road to recovery. :yay:

Rachel
Glad to hear he is feeling more like himself. I hope he is feeling 100% soon.
I know I am missing and forgetting things, sorry, I am a little distracted because this is what my child looked like when she got off the bus:

IMG_0542.jpg

Both front teeth came out! No more cute baby smile. :(
Wow Both Teeth! Looks like the tooth fairy is coming to your house tonight!

Update on Barbara: As you know, I was just on the phone with Heather, she had just gotten off the phone with our brother, David.

Barbara is up and walking around already! I coulnd't believe it! Heather is going up there tonight after Henry gets home. It looks like they are planning on her coming home tomorrow. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
GOOD NEWS. Glad to hear she is doing well.

Target has a doll that is a lot like the American Girl Dolls. They are called My Generation Dolls. Also, there are a lot of American Girl Dolls on :wizard:

So many outfits were posted! Great Job. I loved all of them.

I especially liked "Fancy Nancy" since I am a Nancy! DD loves those books even though she is never ever Fancy :lmao:

Hmmm, lost my quotes!
Okay then...
Heather and Teresa -glad to hear your SIL came through her surgery so well and is already up and about!!!!

There were lots of beautiful things posted today. Lost my quoted photos but oh, everyone's kiddies are SO cute!!
Love the Fancy Nancy outfit! (hadn't ever heard of her before this thread)
Love the July 4th cutie pie!

That will be pretty simple - it will only be one straight seam. The easiest way to do the straps would be to use ribbon. I think either way would cute!

SHANNON!!! I am terrible disappointed that somewhere in the deep recesses of your brain you did not recognize JHAMMY'S OOAK creation. :bitelip: I'll expect you to take better notes next time so you don't make something this cute ever again, unless it is completely original and unique!!

I'll try! :rotfl: I think I need to start keeping a notebook or something (oh wait, would that constitute keeping an inspiration file? Never mind.)

I think that there is a doll at Target - not sure what it's called, or how much it cost. I know that it is a whole line that Target carries (has clothes, horses, furniture, etc). I do know that it is an 18" doll, and it looks pretty similar.

HI All! This is a dress that I made Lexie this morning. I bought Minnie and Mickey fabric from Malaysia and had never used it. So today I dragged it out and cut out the Minnie and Mickey. Lexie told me what she wanted. I wanted to use some yellow, but she said no...:confused3
IrelandandLexieChristmas20072363.jpg

IrelandandLexieChristmas20072364.jpg

I had really wanted to just use the Minnie and make a pink dot skirt to match Minnie's skirt, but in light of all of the discussions...LOL that we had last weekend, I decided since someone recently used pink dot, I decided not to. Sad huh?

SUCH a darling dress!!! YES, it is sad you felt you couldn't make something for fear of ruffling feathers. I think those people are gone now.

Lets see some pink dot fabric love!!!

Let us see your talent!!!!:goodvibes

Here it is on her:

friendspeasanttop.jpg

It did turn out a little shorter then I wanted. What do you think? This is pressed at a 1/4" hem so I could do a 1/8" and give it a little more length.

REALLY cute!!! It looks perfect!!! Maybe add a ruffle or something for some length?

So sorry I haven't been around much: this is the last week of school and it is crazy!

1) Praying for H & T's SIL: hope all goes well. Teresa, I'm so sorry about your cat. I was hoping he would come back by now.

2) Amy, your peasant top looks great! I like them a little longer and ruffles really aren't that hard. You could also get a ruffle already ruffled in the trim section of the fabric store.

3) Elisa, your baby mickey and minnie outfit is so cute! I am a little afraid to show things off too now, so I sympathize.

4) Megan loves Fancy Nancy so I can't wait to see the outfit. I can't show Megan though or she will demand one of her own.

I know I am missing and forgetting things, sorry, I am a little distracted because this is what my child looked like when she got off the bus:

Both front teeth came out! No more cute baby smile. :(

OH MY GOODNESS!!! Megan lost her baby teeth... Darn these kids keep growing!!! Did she lose them both at once?! Teddy lost his close together. I called him Fang for a few weeks!:rotfl2:

Is Megan wearing the Tink Rashguard from the Disney store? SO CUTE!!!

Steph don't let the disruptive behavior of a select few deprive the rest of us of your wonderful talent!!! IT'S NOT FAIR!!!! *stompstompstomp*

Our Wal-Mart here hasn't gotten that one just yet. Jenna already has several of these dresses. In fact she wore a pink one that I made for her today. I love how easy they are and it looks like you worked your booty off making it. I think it would be cute for you to make one to match for yourself. Than all three of you will be matchy and look cute.

Jenna has two of the Target My Generation dolls. They are the same size and come with all kinds of accessories. Each one even has a back story although they don't come with books. They usually run between $27 and $40. I was just looking at them today. I am thinking of getting her another one for Christmas. The CarlaC patterns are the only ones that I have used to make the dolls clothes with. They fit perfectly. CarlaC's patterns are made to fit the AG dolls. The Fancy Nancy doll is the same size also. She cost $40. Hope that helps.

Thank you all for your kind words on the Peasant Top. :lovestruc I did this one completely on my own so it means a lot to hear you think it turned out looking ok. I took it to mom's and showed her and she thinks it is fine the way it is.

I forget who asked, but sizing on the Peasant Top: Erin is 23" around, which is a 4 in the patterns. That is what I used and it fits perfectly! I know the next time I make this I will bump it up to a size 5 and adjust the length again.

HeatherSue- This is the ribbon and accessories that I have for the bows to match your outfit that you are making. Please let me know if these will match.
S2010231.jpg

Stephres- This is the ribbon that I have for your bows. I was thinking of adding the Mickey bars to them or making them with the Mouse ears like I did for Jenna. Please let me know what you think.
S2010232.jpg

Also I have only had two people ask me to make bows. If anyone else is interested in me making the bows to match thier outfit for the BIG GIVE please let me know. I have four containers of ribbon in about 30 different colors.

They had this one a pink princess one and tink. My walmart was in the middle of inventory and i did not see any ribbon that would match. I went by Hanncock and the did not have any ribbon to match it either. So I hope I can make the straps work.

Barbara is up and walking around already! I coulnd't believe it! Heather is going up there tonight after Henry gets home. It looks like they are planning on her coming home tomorrow. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Great news! Hope everything works out and thanks for letting us know.

OH, STEPH, you poor thing:( She's still just as cute as a bug though!:cutie:

Oh, don't think she doesn't know it! Thanks.

Absolute perfection! Great job, the skirt looks like it was made for that shirt. I have gymbo shirts I plan on trying that with, I hope they come out half as good as yours. Love the little goldfish!

Aw, Lily's dress! It looks adorable and Abby Grace looks very happy with it. I have done those winged straps and I like them a lot too: very flirty and feminine!

I am getting ready to finally use my YCMT portrait peasant top for the first time - any sizing suggestions for me??? Just wondering if you shortened here, or lengthened there. I am trying to figure out what size I want o make. DD would measure about a 3/4 by the measurements given, and is wearing about a 5/6 in store bought clothing. I made a 5/6 of the "other" peasant top and it was a bit small. Anyhoo - thanks for any advice!
Oh - also - do you think it would be cute with a searsucker type material??? Next Friday is Hawaiian day at school and I have a pretty floral pink searsucker here on hand. Thanks again ladies!

1) I think it would look perfect with a searsucker. I did my pillowcase peasant top with searsucker:

100_2212.jpg

2) I think it runs pretty true to size, just pay attention to the seam allowances with are not 5/8" like a traditional pattern. I like to make mine a little roomy so she can grow in them. I added ties on one and I saw another on :wizard: where the back was shirred so I was thinking of trying that next.

Can't wait to see it: good luck!

Well, okay then... hi there! :wave2: I'm Adrienne, and I'm a wanna-be seamstress. I've created some amazingly beautiful outfits - dresses, capris, blouses, twirl skirts... in my mind. In reality, my creations have thus far been limited to eleventy billion pairs of elastic-waist pajama pants and The Denim Jumper That Is Not To Be Mentioned.

I have been "window shopping" (thanks for that term! :thumbsup2 ) for weeks and am constantly amazed by the talent - and speed! - of all you creative ladies (and Tom). My first question is:

Where do you find all this great fabric???

I want to hear about the Denim Jumper too (that is not to mentioned but capitalized?). :rotfl2: I get most of my fabric from JoAnn's but you can search out quilt shops, try Wal Mart and buy online too. Just jump in; it's fun I promise!

how hard is it to make bows? I need to figure out what to put in DD #1 who will be 5 when we go.

Aww! She's still stinkin' cute - even without her two front teeth! Man! I'm not ready for that. Caleb's already been asking when his will fall out. Can't they just stay little?

Yes, they are very obstinate about that growing up stuff. Megan told me that Scrappy can be my little baby because she was a big girl now! :scared1: I told DH I was going to start dressing him up in baby clothes and wheel him around the neighborhood in Megan's stroller and people would call me "that dog lady" with one eyebrow raised. He was not impressed and suggested I get a job instead.

Oh my, Fancy Nancy in the flesh! She is perfection: great job on it!

What a dolly! She is just the cutest thing and the outfit looks great on her. I love the hat!

Um Please tell me they fell out on and weren't knocked out. That poor baby.

Here is the story, as it was told to me:

Megan: "I lost the first one on the pwaygwound. I didn't know until we came in. Alexandra told me.

"When I was getting on the bus, the other one was coming out so Miss Dawn (the aide who rides the bus) took me to the nurse's office and she pulled it out and put it in a bag. Look at all the bwood in my mouth!"

Mom: :faint: (her mouth was very bloody)

Your daughter is so cute! I hope you figure out what to do with the dress, I think I would cut it off and make it a skirt too. The other outfits are great and will look so cute on the cruise.

Wow Both Teeth! Looks like the tooth fairy is coming to your house tonight!

Thanks for reminding me! Last time I forgot!

*stompstompstomp*

;)

1) She lost them both today, see above for the play by play. One was barely hanging on so I was ready for it to come out, it was just dangling and grossing her father out (he is easily grossed out) but I am not sure judging by the amount of blood if the second one was really ready or the nurse helped it out. I guess there's no going back now!

2) I will definitely have to call her fang! Wait, is that from Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing? I loved that book!

3) Why yes it is! She had a poolside playdate this afternoon. :)

4) I won't, I am just kicking the dirt a little and pouting. Bullies just make me so mad! We have one in the PTA right now and she just sent me an e-mail instructing me how to do the minutes (I am the secretary) which I have been doing for two years now rather satisfactorily I thought. Grrr!

Thank you all for your kind words on the Peasant Top. :lovestruc I did this one completely on my own so it means a lot to hear you think it turned out looking ok. I took it to mom's and showed her and she thinks it is fine the way it is.

I love CarlaC's patterns and I'm happy your first one worked out for you! It really is cute! Are you going to make the easy pants to go with it?

Stephres- This is the ribbon that I have for your bows. I was thinking of adding the Mickey bars to them or making them with the Mouse ears like I did for Jenna. Please let me know what you think.
th_S2010232.jpg

That looks perfect. Of course I have not started mine but I think little mouse ears would match what I am planning. Thanks so much!

Thank you all for the nice compliments! I really really appreciate it. It makes me want to sew more and more because I can't wait to show all of you! I'll be done with her pooh outfit tonight, just gotta sew the pants together. They were giving me trouble because I was trying to figure out how to put a ruffle at the bottom....I gave up and did the cuff because it's in the directions. :rotfl2: I'll post when I finish, and I'll dress my little model up tomorrow :)

OK, all this talk about calling Megan "Fang" reminded me of baby Ella. I have to share. We used to call her Fang when her teeth were coming in. Caleb would get so mad! He'd say "don't call her Fang! Her name is Ewwa!" So, being the mean parents we are, we'd keep calling her Fang just to see him get all worked up - it was so funny!

This is adorable! I have never heard of Fancy Nancy. Violette is only 21 months, we haven't gotten there yet...lol...but I'll be picking up that book next time we head to the library...too cute!

Here is the outfit that I have been working on for days. I know that Rara has been waiting forever to see this. It is a M2M gymbo. The shirt is gymbo and I am going to make Russell a matching shirt and pants. Well here it is.

I love this skirt! That looks like a lot of work. I don't think I'm ready to go there yet! LOL...

Ok, I got this finished today. I'm sure it's a CASE, but not sure who from. I remember seeing a similar fabric (maybe identical, I don't know) and liking it. Finally decided to pull it off the shelf and make something from it.

I call this "Ode to Carla C" It is the Simply Sweet dress, easy fit pants & portrait peasant top.

First modeled (because I have to brag!).

But since it's blurry, here's the dress form shot

sewingcreations001.jpg

This is darling. Your daughter is precious :)

My DD6 pulled her own bottom tooth out yesterday with tweezers! Talk about bloody. And I DID forget to leave her money. She got up this morning and her tooth was gone but no cash. I distracted her and my husband hid it under her toothpaste tube in the bathroom. When she found it we told her the tooth fairy wanted to make sure she brushes her teeth. I searched all through her bed today but could not find that little tooth.
