I FINALLY finished another outfit! hahaha...I've been procrastinating. It's Violette's 4th of July outfit. I made a sailor collar to go with it, but now I'm thinking that it's too much. I just like the top, pants, and beret. My model is napping at the moment..hehe..but I will post pics of her in it when she wakes up.

It turned out really cute. I really like that hat.

Here it is on her:

th_friendspeasanttop.jpg

It did turn out a little shorter then I wanted. What do you think? This is pressed at a 1/4" hem so I could do a 1/8" and give it a little more length.

I like it as is, but if you really think it's too short I agree with everyone else & say add a ruffle. They really aren't that hard.

Update on Barbara: As you know, I was just on the phone with Heather, she had just gotten off the phone with our brother, David.

Barbara is up and walking around already! I coulnd't believe it! Heather is going up there tonight after Henry gets home. It looks like they are planning on her coming home tomorrow. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

   That's wonderful news!

I love all the outfits for the Big Love! You are all so talented!

So I am having an issue with my embroidery. HOW DOES EVERYONE EMBROIDER ON KNIT T SHIRTS?????

Please can someone help me??? I just can't do it! All I needed to do was to embroider Shamu on 3 little T shirts for tomorrow (now today). I have spent the whole night and I still don't have one done. I cannot seem to stabilize the T shirt. I am using tear away stabilizer, a ball point needle but it still comes loose each time I try. Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Sue

Shamu was the first thing I embroidered on tees! :rotfl2: Anyway, I have done the stickyback method with tearaway, but with knits it is best if you can get away with cutaway to use it. I recommend iron on, that way it will help the knit to lose its stretch in the hoop and it should really stay put! :thumbsup2 That being said, even though it sometimes doesn't look as nice after washing I still use tearaway pretty often because my kids (especially DS) are super sensitive to "itchiness". The cutaway tends to add to that... I also iron on featherweight fusible over the back as a "comfort lining" to combat the itchies...

Here is the outfit that I have been working on for days. I know that Rara has been waiting forever to see this. It is a M2M gymbo. The shirt is gymbo and I am going to make Russell a matching shirt and pants. Well here it is.

Ok, I got this finished today. I'm sure it's a CASE, but not sure who from. I remember seeing a similar fabric (maybe identical, I don't know) and liking it. Finally decided to pull it off the shelf and make something from it.

I call this "Ode to Carla C" It is the Simply Sweet dress, easy fit pants & portrait peasant top.

First modeled (because I have to brag!).

the day before we leave
Have a magical trip!!!!!

My mom's MRI got rescheduled because her insurance had not approved it yet. I think she goes in the morning. She is going to see about some compression fractures in her spine and now possibly her feet. She is going with us to WDW. I think we will have to rent a chair for her because I really don't see how she can do all of that walking.
:wizard: Hope your Mom can find some relief. You should look into a chair for her for your trip-there are some offsite companies you could use so she would have it at the resort and likely save money over Disney's prices. I really LOVE Pop Century but the walk to the bus stops from the parks is one of the longest.

CUTE!!!! I don't think it looks too short.

The chalkboard is made out of oil cloth, it comes in black and green. I think I got it @ Hancock Fabric, but it might have been joann it was so long ago. I did modify my size to what was on YCMT.com.

My daughter loves hers! My aunts, female cousins & grandma on my moms side get togther every other month for what we call our "generation" club, and it is basically a day of food and just being around women & we always do some kind of project. And the person who hosts the club that month is in charge of the project and that was mine last time. Everybody loved them and we had a great time making them.

PM me if you have any questions about them. ;)
I like the idea of these but don't like the thought of the chalk dust mess. I wonder if you could use clear plastic with a white fabric under it and use dry erase markers instead of chalk.

I'm not looking for any now!! I went to Hancock today and they had a brand new bolt of it!!!! When I went to get it cut, all the workers loved the fabric and said they'd never seen it before. I went ahead and got 5 yards even though I have no idea what I'm going to do with it.

The best part was, when I went to pay the gal at the register gave me a coupon for 40% off! So I got 5 yards for $15! Woo hoo!!! :cool1:
How exciting!!!

I know I am missing and forgetting things, sorry, I am a little distracted because this is what my child looked like when she got off the bus:

Both front teeth came out! No more cute baby smile. :(
Look at how cute she is!

I am getting ready to finally use my YCMT portrait peasant top for the first time - any sizing suggestions for me??? Just wondering if you shortened here, or lengthened there. I am trying to figure out what size I want o make. DD would measure about a 3/4 by the measurements given, and is wearing about a 5/6 in store bought clothing. I made a 5/6 of the "other" peasant top and it was a bit small. Anyhoo - thanks for any advice!
Oh - also - do you think it would be cute with a searsucker type material??? Next Friday is Hawaiian day at school and I have a pretty floral pink searsucker here on hand. Thanks again ladies!

My DD is wearing a size 4 in store bought. I made the size 4 today and it fits great. I think the seersucker would be very cute.

AND if there really are a lot of people out there reading and not posting- shame on you! It's such a great community here, please, come post pictures of WHATEVER you create- be bows, clothes, crayon rolls- anything goes...really!

Well, okay then... hi there! :wave2: I'm Adrienne, and I'm a wanna-be seamstress. I've created some amazingly beautiful outfits - dresses, capris, blouses, twirl skirts... in my mind. In reality, my creations have thus far been limited to eleventy billion pairs of elastic-waist pajama pants and The Denim Jumper That Is Not To Be Mentioned.

I have been "window shopping" (thanks for that term! :thumbsup2 ) for weeks and am constantly amazed by the talent - and speed! - of all you creative ladies (and Tom). My first question is:

Where do you find all this great fabric???

In particular, I'd like to find the large print princess fabric from that beautiful blue/pink/yello Big Give outfit (with the cricut crown applique - I think my favorite outfit yet!)... as well as the "friends around the world" fabric just posted for that cute peasant top... and all variations/sizes of Minnie Dot fabric. My DD is only 3yo so I think the true Minnie Dot would overwhelm her, but I would like to find it anyway - as well as a smaller version.

I have WalMart and Joann's locally; unfortunately our Hancock is no more. :( I'm in Los Angeles, if anyone has suggestions for local places - and of course I'm happy to buy over the internet, including :wizard:

Thanks for any help you can provide! :flower3:

THat is really cute....and your dd is adorable! I don't remember seeing a picture of her before.

Awww...she is still cute!

I love the skirt!! Very cute.

I'm not looking for any now!! I went to Hancock today and they had a brand new bolt of it!!!! When I went to get it cut, all the workers loved the fabric and said they'd never seen it before. I went ahead and got 5 yards even though I have no idea what I'm going to do with it.

Yay..I am glad you got some at Hancock. What a great price too!

I like the idea of these but don't like the thought of the chalk dust mess. I wonder if you could use clear plastic with a white fabric under it and use dry erase markers instead of chalk.

I think that maybe an option, The "chalkboard" is attached to the fabric with spray adhesive I don't think you would want to use that with the clear vinyl. But I really like the idea of the dry erase board concept.

I have a quick question. Does anyone know how much to add to a size 4 pattern to make it into a size 5 (kids sizes)? My MIL bought me fabric and a pattern to make DD a dress for her birthday. I know she spent a lot on it. They only make the pattern up to a size 4 and DD is a 5 now. Help?? Thanks :)

I did not see if anyone answered you so....here is what I would do get some patternease (BTY at Joann's or Walmart) to draw out your pattern on..it is thin enough to see the pattern lines. when drawing the new pattern lines for the size 5 use the difference between the size 3 and size 4 to draw the new lines for the size 5....Make sense?...Nana

Welcome out of "Window Shoppingdom"...LOL Fabrics the large print princess and the Blue "friends around the world" fabrics are at Joann's so you are in luck. The Blue Friends fabric they keep in with the Novelty Prints section. I know I just saw those same fabrics just the other day at the ones (note the Plural usage) near me. I don't have a JoAnn's Super Store near me here in Virginia (I really miss that cuz I had several near me when I lived near Tampa FL...:worried: Nana

Aww! She's still stinkin' cute - even without her two front teeth! Man! I'm not ready for that. Caleb's already been asking when his will fall out. Can't they just stay little?

Ella's measurements fall right on the size 3, she wears usually a 3 or 4 in store-bought. Also, I think that seersucker will be cute! Good luck and post pics when you're done!!

LOL, you need to post more often - you had me :rotfl: with "eleventy billion" and "The Denim Jumper That Is Not To Be Mentioned"

I think most of us buy fabric at WalMart, JoAnn and Hancock. The princess fabric you mention is from WalMart and the Friends around the world from that top is at JoAnn - some different friends fabric can be found at Hancock, but I see you don't have one of those. :wizard: is also a great source for fabric, as well as a plethora of on-line fabric shops - google "fabric store" or something similar and you'll find tons! HTH! Oh, and :welcome:

:listen: Is this guy new? I don't recall seeing him before. Anyhoo The Fancy Nancy outfit is done! Well, with the exception of accessories! Ella was THRILLED (even though she doesn't look it in the pics.) Oh, and for the record - I'm not apologizing for her hair, I'm EXPLAINING that she was fresh up from a nap, so it's a little disheveled, to say the least.

Now I just need to make the accessories and figure out the party decorations and cake!

ETA: I should add that the skirt is the wrap skirt from YCMT and the top is Carla's peasant top, but shirred instead of elastic casing.
