She's a beauty...eh? This machine NEVER breaks down. When I was little my sister and I used to make Barbie clothes with it using Kleenex and fabric scraps. It is a great machine...if all you want to do is a straight stitch :rotfl2: I keep my ruffler foot on it.

and now I REALLY NEED that circle neck top pattern! :lmao:
Mine is very similar, it is mounted to a table but it's a Sears Kenmore. My Aunt has the same machine (not mounted) and she says it never breaks down its her favorite sewing machine.

I love to see boys getting in to sewing! And men too, of course, Tom! My 6 year old so far really enjoys it...

That is so cute, I love to see kids learning to sew, I wish more of them would take the class.

Hi guys, I thought I would show you the newest things that I have been making. Something for the other love of my life!

Bags and wallets!

DW loves the Ver@ Br@dley bags, so I thought I would come up with a different version!

This is one for her friend. She picked aqua colors, not my favorite color, but I think it still turned out pretty good, except for a few of my "goof ups".

Bag and Wallet:

(I accidentally put the zipper in upside down! Zippers are not fun!):sad2:

Inside of bag with zippered pocket and 2 patch pockets:
scbag007.jpg

And yes, I did quilt the fabric myself!

We were at the mall the other day, and DW got so many complements on her bag. She kept telling everyone that I made it, and they wanted business cards. I guess I should get some printed.
Not sure I want to start that though!
WOW! That's all I have to say is Wow!

I have a couple of questions for you guys:
1. Where do you find all your great Disney Fabrics? Some of them are fantastic!
2. Can some one explain what the appliques are and how to do them. If this has been explained several times I apologize  I am new to the thread and have not been able to read the whole thing.
Thanks for the help.

:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: Im AMAZED! I love it Tom - you're the MAN!!!

I wonder if I could afford a Tom original (Vera's are too $$ for me!) They are WAY better!

If you don't mind me asking how did the crayon rolls go over with the kids? I am thinking about doing the same thing for DD's class...

I have to get started on a Lion King outfit for DD - we're going to see it at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center at the end of the month - I am SO excited!!!!

Thanks everyone for the comments!

I swear my wife could sell a ton of them if only I would agree to it!

Right now I don't feel the pressure to get anything done, and it makes for a much more enjoyable experience.

The crayon rolls were a HUGE success!
I received 18 handmade Thank You cards from everyone, including my princess! The cards are worth more to me than any amount of money that I could ever earn!

Im am just blown away by the items being posted- Tom- that bag is just adorable and the colors are fab!

JHAM-love the Tink outfit

CastleCreations- lovin' the lemons! I like the cuff on the pants!

one of these days Im going to get brave and do an applique. Theres a part of me that wants to take on a mickey head, but Im afraid if I do that Ill sort of make that outfit too "Disney" for wearing after our mere 5 day trip.

Couple questions
1- For those of you who used the Mickey head button-adhesives- how did you get them to stay permenantly on the fabric?

2. Im still trying to decide how to use my coveted Minnie Dot fabric (I was so pleased, it was laying on the couch when DH came home and he looked at it and said "Hey- Minnie Dot fabric!" I was so proud of him, LOL.

Okay- so I have this commonsensepattern- I could do the minnie dot in the "pinafore" fabric and then yellow for the under skirt and maybe white sleeves- I really wish it had more of a short sleeve- might be too hot-
hayley-dress.jpg

Or a halter dress-pillowcase pattern-looks like a simple pattern, and looks like it would be cool-.

DD is wearing like a size 1 or 2 and is only 32" tall....

I have a little sundress with ties o nthe shoulders too, that I have not used yet.

or, or, or.

This is a large dot fabric- if you recall Tinka Belle's recent post of her daughter with the yellow apron- its that fabric, so a large dot for a little girl. Suggestions for other patterns welcome...

Do they sell button hole elastic anywhere or did you make your own?

I found it on :wizard:

This is too cute. If you don't mind telling me, what size is your DD? Mine is in a 4 and I have been looking at doing a big face dress, but was scared the face would be too big for a top for her.

Thanks everyone for your nice comments about Lily's Tinkerbell outfit. She is just sort of moving away from a size 2 and really fits well in a size 3, but the last simply sweet halter I made for her in a size 3 and it was kind of snug, probably just the elastic, but on this one I wanted her to be able to wear a peasant top under it so I used the size 4 bodice. I did use the empire one and not the full sized bodice. I thought about it but it would've just shown more of Tinkerbell's hair and I liked the empire waist better. I'm one that doesn't mind just seeing the eyes and mouth. It's kinda why I first loved the whole "big face bodice" idea when I saw aimeeg's Cinderella (which I sorta CASED in a cheater pillowcase way :rotfl: )

Just thought I would post real quick. We made it to WDW just fine. I did get a call on the drive over from my grandpa. He told me one of cousins had died in a car accident. He is only one year younger than me so that was hard. I wanted to turn around, but pawpaw said no that that is not what Josh would want. I was trying to be strong, but when DH and Jenna fell asleep I couldn't hold back. The song Arms of the Angels came on the radio and that was all it took.

Well after we got here we all took a short nap and then Jenna and I went to the MK. She got pixiedust 3 times. First a CM gave her Mickey stickers in StarTraders second a CM stopped her on the way to the potty in Fantasyland sprinkled her with Mickey glitter and made her an honorary princess for the day third we were getting icecream at Auntie Gravities and she was talking to the CM taking our order and her supervisor was standing next to her and he gave Jenna two Tink pins, but never said a word. We were exhausted when we got back to our hotel. We stayed in the park till it closed.

Tom: You are the MAN!!!!
How did you do the quilting, what batting did you use? any tips on keeping the lines straight ?

I quilted a fabric for a handbag(don't want to do it again:confused3 ) and I had a hard time keeping the lines straight

any tips?

BTW Do you have a twin brother that does sewing, cooking and cleaning?

Stephres ~ When you did the peasant top into an A line, did you just use pattern piece 1 and 2a from the peasant and use cutting line A? I know the length of my A line is what I want so I thought I just needed to trace the main bodice piece at the arm opening and extend the fold line down. I hope I said that right.

Thanks for the tip! I am wnating to use that pattern for Lily and would have made a 3- since it's for our Oct. trip. I should probably go ahead and make it a 4 since they are so close in size!!

I have got to go finish the dress I am making for Lily. I have to wrap up in the next hour or so B has 2 gigs today....hopefully I make it in time for her to wear today.

Honey we were there and they were terribly outplayed. They hung tough in the first half and then....well lets just say we made 2 funnel cake runs:) Best thing for you and making Navy dresses, you know exactly where they can go when your lovely DD is done with them:)

Hi Everyone...
Tom---you constantly amaze me. I love the bag, It's beautiful. You and LisaZoe have such an eye for fabrics..I don't seem to have that talent..:confused3
I started my appliqued outfit today. I'm doing panels, but haven't decided if they will be in a dress or skirt and top...
Can anyone tell who they are?

Eric is still a little wet...paint that is..

Okay, I am in LOVE so far!!!! My sweetie is Ariel obsessed right now. Remember her room with the Anti-monster curtain??? Anyway, she is turning 4 ( I am very stressed about this! where does the time go??) and wants an Ariel birthday!!!!! I have until August, and have been looking at different Ariel customs, but I must tell you, so far...yours is my favorite!

I have to make a size bigger in the halter pattern too. DD is a small size 4 and I have to make 5 in the halter. The jumper bodice fits, but is just a little big in a 4.

Thanks for all the hugs and prayers. They are greatly appreciated.

I won't be able to post pics until I get back home, because I am dising on my blackberry. I have no way of uploading pics till I get home. I am taking bunches of pics for everyone though.

I want to add that I love the Tink dress, the purse and wallet are super cute and those Little Mermaid appliques look great.

Well, Lily's Golfapalooza dress is just about done. Don't be fooled by the name. Golfapalooza is the event B is playing that she is wearing it too but it is a really cute beach scene...Just have to attatch the front/back yokes. I'll take pictures of her today and post them tomorrow!
