I was able to do this with one fabric, but when I went to cut mickey heads with another fabric, the fabric kept shifting. I had brand new blades and brand new mats, so it was very frustrting. After trying about 20 different settings, I gave up and just cut "patterns" of the different sizes I needed. I also did a dog bone for Dalmation outifts. I will post when MIL gets them complete.

Did you iron on interfacing to the back of the fabric first??

I think it will void the warrenty if you cut anything but paper. I think the best thing would be to cut out the pieces from paper and then trace onto fabric. The dog bone idea is brilliant! Can't wait to see it.

The warranty is only good for one year - mine is well over a year old so I figure what the heck - LOL. It probably is easier to cut things your way though...

I am so wanting to get back to WDW. I think I am going through some major wishful thinking but I really am hoping to go the first week of December. What Dec dates are people going to be there?

We will be there Dec 7-13. It is our first time going as a family in Dec.

OK so are the step sisters now in the park full time? When we were there last year they were not. :(

I got my first minne dot fabric! Went to Hancocks today, and although I wanted a lot of fabric, I left with 3 yards of minnie dot...the good one! and 2 butterick patterns. Only spent $11. I was disappoined in that they didn't have those cool disney fabric books...they had a nemo one on clearance but dd already has 2 nemo outfits!

I want to go back, but I am good for now!

We will be there the 7th thru the 14th. :goodvibes Unless I can finally talk my husband into going up the 6th because our soon to be adopted daughters bday is the 7th and that is reason enough not to travel on that day to me. :rotfl:

Oh did you leave some for me? I am going in the morning! I really wanted some of the minnie dot for my DD - I found some at Hancock's in Ashville and my dad was going to pick it up for me next week when he goes up there...great father...shops all the fabric stores for me!:cool1:

I have a weird question:

Could you use a cricut or something similar to cut fabric for appliques? I do not scrapbook, but I was thinking I would be much more open to more intricate appliques if I didn't have to cut all the little pieces out myself.
:rolleyes1

Yes, you absolutely can use the cricut to cut fabric appliques out. I've done lots of disney ones. I was going to do some this weekend to be able to show everyone before I shared this great piece of information but since the cat is out of the bag.... YES!!
I always apply my fusible web first and be sure to use a sticky mat. It works very well. You do need to clean the blade from time to time to clear out the fuzzies.
I'm currently looking for a good price on the Pooh cartridge so that I can make these ones too.

Oh! Now I can justify that thing...two purposes! Love IT!

After i saw this I ended up buying the pattern. When DH finds out I am throwing you under the bus with this one.:rolleyes1 I just love the to and thought "I have about 10 fabrics the would be great with this"

Foggy- everything is just too cute, and never underestimate the power of a good girdle. They have saved me before!!!

BTW- anyone planning a meet-up over thanksgiving? We are staying at POFQ from thanksgiving day through the 1st.?!?!

Hi all!
Crystal- the minnie dot and apron is so cute and different, she's sure to get lots of compliments!

The idea with the Stepsisters - so cool!!!

Well I didnt get a chance to post yesterday, but I had my follow up visit with my gastro doc to review the results of the 2 tests. On a good note- my Barrett's esophogus doesnt look like it's any worse, and I just barely passed the gastric screening- but passed it no less. On a bad note, they dont know why my reflux is getting worse.
Outcome- I must eat earlier, and have no food whatsoever for 3 hours before bed. Eat only small meals several times a day. ...sigh... this is so hard for me to do. Every fiber in my body calls this "snacking" and it was ingrained in me as a kid- NO SNACKING. I also often forget to eat. (you'd think I'd be a skinny-minnie!)
I told Dr that we were officially going to be "trying" and he just grimmaced and said- it's going to be a rough time with someone with as much trouble as you. Protonix is in a catagory thats safe for PG women, but I'll have to cut back to one a day (vrs 2 a day)
I remember being SO hungry last time. I can only hope this time I will force myself to eat tiny meals, throughout the day.

I showed DH some Pooh fabric that I bought a month ago and said I was going to use it next- he said "how many outfits are you going to MAKE? Im glad this is a nice little hobby for you- but isnt it expensive?" and then proceeds to try to compare my outfits to those at Walmart and Khols. ($6.99)
It really hurt my feelings. Not to mention he thought my outfits were averaging $30 (Hardly!!!) Its very rare that he isnt supportive- but his math was way off. Once I told him the Disney fabric is like $3 a yard he didnt care as much.

Right now I really have 2 outfits out of Disney fabric- plus the pooh peasant dress, but I think its gonna be too heavy/hot for wearing during the day.

HI guys how goes the sewing ?
it has been a crazy couple of weeks here not a whole lot of sewing going on although i have enough fabric and patterns to keep me busy:thumbsup2 it's just that it is really not worth it when Mayson is getting into everything behind my back he really just wants to help but i had to draw the line at sewing and sanity when he almost cut his fingers off with some scissors Trying to cut some fabric :scared1:
I saw that we have a new thread again so i am just gonna have to check out photobucket to see the awesome new outfits posted ..
Plus my husband also graduated from college with his bachelors in business and accounting :cool1: :thumbsup2 now in 3 wks he starts his masters.
Plus i am also reading The Host Stephenie Meyers new book so i am hooked on that also . it is easier to read while mayson is next to me ..;) i just wanted to say ....

Tell your husband that you are not going to sew near as many outfits as I did. I have sewn 12 outfits and I still have 2 left to go. This does not include the 3 princess dresses and the Pirate outfit. :lmao: Somehow somewhere along the way in my sewing frenzy I lost count of my outfits and went overboard. Oh Well Jenna will have options and there will be some that will be sold when we come back. And tell your DH that you are actually saving money. Your DD probably only requires one yard of fabric per outfit and that makes the cost of the outfit about $4. :rotfl: Or you could just tell him you got it all on sale. :lmao:

I want to see pictures when you get them done! A tutorial even! So far I have only cut stuff then traced it onto my heat 'n' bond (like the ladybug on this shirt. I made this outfit today for my 19 mo. old neice BTW)

Love it! I wanted to see the back. I think I will eventually have to get this pattern!

And here is Lily in her Disney petti. I got it when it was 40% off so I think it was like $14.50 or something. SOOO worth it! She LOVES it. Did not want to take it off. Then she wore it out in the sandbox :scared1:

Here is my first attempt at the new pattern ... I'm not loving it, but I will practice more this weekend! I just wish I'd used cheap fabric for my first one. Oh well, dd2 will be pleasantly surprised when she wakes up :)
