Personally as a beginner I have found CarlaC's patterns on youcanmakethis.com to be the best - she is very through, they have loads of step by step pictures. I just print out the pattern size I need and read all the rest on the screen. I had never made anything before this year, and have made loads of stuff in the last couple months!

I checked out her website. So did you download the book that it mentions on your home computer?

I just can't keep up with you guys!!!! I wanted to share what I just finished. These are for dd2 and dgd2 to wear to MK when dd7 wears her Cinderella custom. I didn't care for the Anastasia at first, but once I got Drizella finished, I love them together!!! Since I took these, I did attach a green ruffle to the front of Drizella and they are all packed for December!

These are so cute! Great idea! :thumbsup2

Good morning all. I just love what I am seeing so far! (I'll comment in a bit).

Well, I didn't get my sewing machine last night. :sad1: But, it's okay, because I think I have finally decided which one to get! And it neither of the ones I was thinking about. I think I am going to go with the Brother CS6000i. I know a lot of you, like Nana and Tom, use this and really like it, so I am going to go for it!! I am really excited. I tried to get it last night, but my dinky Walmart didn't have it, so I am going to keep looking. Hopefully by the end of the weekend!!! Then I can start showing what I have done! Making stuff for little babies is so fun - and pretty cheap (MUCH less material!!) Thanks for all your help with types of machines/rufflers. By the way, for the CD6000i, did you just get the Brother ruffler, or get one off of Voldemort?

Okay, now back to reading so I can get caught up (at least on this particular thread) and start commenting.

Jess

I ordered mine online, then had it sent to the store to pick up. I didn't have to pay shipping charges that way.

Very cute. Can you still find the Epcot/Small World Fabric with the faces??

I like this a lot. I think a bow could add something to it, but either way. For the ribbon - do you just sew a stitch across the top and bottom from seam to seam or is it "bonded on"??

Jess

I just saw it at JoAnnes last week.

hey guys thought i'd post more outfits from the girls gramma!

sorry for the pics. i was having trouble with photobucket and the lighting in my house is terrible. Thx for looking!

We love monkeys at our house! Those are adorable! And I love the mermaid outfit and all the ruffles! She does great work!

CarlaC is actually one of many pattern makers on youcanmakethis.com

I dont know how old your daughter is, but there are plenty of simple patterns out there by McCalls and Simplicity and as many girls have pointed out places like Joanns and Hancock have 99cent sales.

I have not made this pattern- but have read lots of great reviews about how easy it is

I would also suggest asking at local quilt shops if they offer any classes for new sewers who are interested in apparel.

Another Enabler Alert! CLEAR VINYL FROM HANCOCK'S!!!

Someone last week was talking about they saw clear vinyl w/princesses at their Hancock's (can be used for raincoats, purses, etc.). I was at mine this morning and I saw it. It is really cute and they also had Pooh, Cars, Princesses and Mickey Mouse. The price was $7.99 and it was on sale for 30% off!
I have been trying to figure out how to make a rain coat using this. I think that I am going to pick some up and give it a try. Maybe next month. I know that Jenna would appreciate a raincoat with all the rain that we get around here.

2 more outfits to post.
The dolphin one I whipped up in 1 day for her to wear to Mystic Aquarium.

The butterflies I just did yestereday (took a day and half- would have been a 1 day if it was a weekend) I made this for her to wear to her neices birthday party tomorrow. This is my second portrait peasant dress, I did the size 1 instead of size 2 and skipped the ruffle at the neckline and I like it much better.

That is a very cute pattern. I have never seen that company before. Where did you find it at?

Those are too cute. I love them both. Did you mean to say that your DD has a neice or that she is going to your neice's B-day party?

This pic is for Tnkrbell565:

I now have to go finish a Minnie Dot dress that I started the other night.

I also got my grades today for School. I have 4 B's and a C :rolleyes1 . Don't ask about the C. I understood what I was doing I just didn't get time to do all of the labs that were required.

Check out my ticker too! We are into the 6 months range! A lot of us going then!

Enabler Alert.... Went into work today (Disney Store) and ALL their t-shirts are $5. The new ones and the adult ones. I am in so much trouble!

You are killing me! :lmao: Now I have to go back soon! BTW tell me where the Hancock's is near us? I have no clue and need to make a fabric run soon!:cool1:

Hi Everyone! Since I fell in love with the Stepsister outfits, I had to try my hand at them as well. The girls decided they wanted both the stepsisters on each shirt...sigh...
It took me quite a while, but here's one top so far. I will have the outfit finished tomorrow, but wanted to show you what it looks like so far.

Alexis also took a tumble down the drive way. She said. she had a roll over...:rotfl: she literally rolled like three times. Her face didn't look too bad at first, but now her eye is really swollen and her cheek looks really raw and red. But here is a picture right after it happened.

It doesn't look too bad in the picture, but it's much worse now...:scared1: poor dear...That's why I didn't get the outfit done...I actually had to take care of my kids...:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It is off 85 at exit 85. You would get off at the Kannopolis 58. It is in a shopping center...can't think of it's name right now but it has an IHop and a CiCi's. That one has quite a bit of fabric, but the old ladies working there are not very nice...

I was there tonight and got some Mickey vinyl and a pattern. I'm planning on making bibs and possibly a stroller tote.

Let me know how that goes and what pattern you use. I was thinking about this too.
