Hi!

Sorry to hear that the halter bodice isn't working out for everyone :( . I design my bodices using slopers (which are 2D, but very accurate), and they looked like they would cover just fine. I also made some test cases in the smaller sizes, and they fit all my models.

I did intend for the halter to be worn with the top of the bodice near the collarbone. I actually started out with a wider top, but it seemed to bag/sag, so I narrowed it. But I have noticed quite a few people tie them such that the top of the bodice is mid-chest, and that might explain the narrowness problem.

Anyway, I will break out my slopers and see if I can rework the halter bodice to allow for more coverage without bagging. Please PM me and I will send an updated version to anyone who wants it.

:)

Parker looks so cute! Is that "regular fabric" or an actual pillowcase?

It is regular fabric. You can't tell in the pic bu the fabric has sparkles on it. It is really cute. I got the fabric at Hancock for $2.00 a yard on clearance. The top half of the fabric doesn't have Ariel on it -- it has the yellowy sand in a wavy line with shells on it. The reason they had clearanced it is b/c for one I think it is old and where the fabric was folded over the bolt it had faded on the fold. Good thing I didn't have to use the other half.

Why Why WHy! do children have to grow? I made the cutest outfits for my DD last year. I made them BIG so she could get more use of them (she LOVED them). Just tried them on this year............. :sad2:

DD is NOT happy!

My DD "suggested" I make more just BIGGER. (yeah like I can find those fabrics again!)

Atleast the matching outfits I made Jord still fit :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Just wait for the day that they come looking in our closets..my dd is already eyeing my shoes..:rotfl:

I just noticed something...my ticker no longer says 6 months...we dropped to 5 months, 3 weeks and 6 days...heck..we're almost there.. :rotfl:

This is not a new dress but we just got this beyond cool headband in the mail today. Hannah did a little retail therapy on :wizard:. There is a kid that is picking on her at school.

Okay, I had to pull up my photo of my simply sweet halter top. Missy is too grumpy to try it on. I think the "coverage" looks okay on this one. I think it is just snug at the waist--which actually looks very cute IMHO but is a tad hard to get on her and she will probably outgrow it soonish (and if this weather doesn't start to warm up, she may never get to wear any summery clothes!) So from looking at this, Carla if you're out there, do you think I could just make the elastic in the back bigger and be fine? I don't really think I need a wider bodice. I used the elastic neck strap this time, next time I'm going to try the ties.

Tell her I LOVE her pretties thats what I call them. And I LOVE her outfit too. And retail therapy always helps.

She is adorable! Still love that dress and I love her new headband! That is awesome!

I didn't find the halter top too small either. I made the ruffle longer because she is long-waisted but it actually hit close to her waist, much closer than store bought patterns. It does just fit her, but I think if I adjusted the elastic it would be fine if I needed it a tad bigger around.

Thanks Jeanne!

Definitely add an inch or two more elastic if it is too tight around the tummy. I'll get that modified in the eBook :) .

I'm actually raising the bottom armhole a bit on the pattern. This changes the slope of the sides, which gives a bit more coverage without having to do much to the width of the top. :thumbsup2

I am thinking that the tighter you make the back elastic the better it fits, but Sydni is VERY pickey about things being tight, and she will NOT wear them. I think the top maybe fine, maybe I didn't do something right? Carla what do you think?????????

That is tooooo precious! I love her hair like that!

I haven't used this pattern but I have noticed when I make things fit across the back using elastic rather than shirring, it didn't have as much "give". I have a dress I made for Zoe almost 2 years ago that she still wants to wear because it's so full. However, the elastic makes it too tight... otherwise it would fit fine if a bit shorter than I like. What I've been doing where shirring won't work is to use narrower elastic, usually 1/4". Since the narrower elastic stretches more easily, I use 2 - 4 rows of it with separate casing for each so the back doesn't sag from the weight of the skirt. It still doesn't stretch as easily as shirring but it does stretch more easily than wider elastic.

You know, an idea that just occurred to me is to do something like they do in jeans for kids with the elastic and buttons. You could make a couple button holes in one end of the elastic and a buttonhole in the the casing so the end of the elastic goes through it to allow you to adjust the elastic as needed. With that method, you could get a lot more wear out of the dress... even until it becomes a top. :goodvibes

I was wondering if any of you ladies have seen the Pokemon watches that are on Voldemort???? I think they are cute and look like a good deal but I'm leary about ordering from Hong Kong. (I'm actually always leary about buying anything on Voldemort.)

What do you ladies think?

If you haven't seen them, pm me and I'll send you the link.

I think it looks pretty darn cute the way it is, but like I told Jeanne, definitely add to the elastic if it is needed. Things can be "lightly elasticized" and still fit really nicely.

One of the things I hemmed and hawed over was elastic type. I use the thick non-roll stuff for pants so they will stay up, but for something like this the thin stretchier stuff would probably be better. I always worry that I'm sounding like a commercial if I recommend too many specific products, though (I'm really NOT taking kickbacks from the makers of wondertape :rotfl: )!
