But, I did get a picture of the shirt I just finished for my mom. Isn't she the cutest Mom in the world?
DSC07286Large.jpg

That came out great! I'm glad you were able to correct the sleeve issue.

I used the tut of craftster, sort of. I actually cut it apart and then used the pattern pieces from CarlaC's jumper dress/a-line dress. To be honest, it was harder than just using fabric and following her instructions. Megan grabbed it as soon as she got home though so I think she likes it:

IMG_0421.jpg

That is really cute. I need to try that sometime if I can find a shirt as cute.

I'm sending prayers your way.

That is the cutest shirt. I was debating making me a shirt like that for WDW. I think I might make me one or two.

I love the dress. I too want to use that tutorial. I just haven't found a shirt that I want to convert.

Ok since ya'll asked I have finished my new sewing machine quest. I started out this morning going to Wal-Mart because oddly enough it is the only store around here that sells sewing machines. So I bought a Brother SC 6000i. I got it home opened the box and found that the machine was old and had been used. It was covered in dust and still had a bobbin in it. :scared1: It went right back. Well I wasn't planning on spending a fortune, so I decided to cross the river and go to the next twon over (15 mins in the car) Well DH decided that he would go with me because he likes the Pineville Wal-Mart. Well they didn't have the same machine that I liked, but DH sees the one that I really want and says, "Hey this one does all of the stuff that you want to do." He ended up talking me into buying the machine that was 3 times as much as the machine that I payed for this morning. :scared1: So I am now the very proud owner of a Brother SE-350. :woohoo: It does everything. It just put a casserole in the oven for dinner. :rotfl: It does embroidery. I'll take a pic after awhile and post it. I also fell in love with their fabric department and have decided that I will be crossing the river the next time I want fabric. I spent $50 on fabric and still didn't feel like I had enough. They had three times as much fabric as the Wal-Mart around here.
How awesome! Dont you just love it when hubby comes along and tells us to go ahead and get more! Photos?
Embroidery- most excellent!

It turned out great! I love seeing pictures of your mom because I know what a great mom she is and that reminds me of my mom. When I hear of all the special things she does with the grandkids it really makes me miss my mom. Maybe she will adopt me when Luke and Tessa get married. I hate being an orphan. Yep, I'm in self pity mode.

Aww, I 'm so sorry you don't have your Mom around anymore. I don't know what I'd do without my Mom and my sister! :lovestruc The very thought of it makes me cry! Yes, Mom WILL adopt you! I'm sure she will love being a great grandma too!
Okay, and because I was such a bad mommy posting pics of all my kids except one, and because I am on the computer with the old pictures, and because I would rather look at his sweet little guy face than deal with whatever havoc he is currently wreaking, and because Teresa asked, here are some pics of little Lukey, or "Cookie" as he is called because Lily could say Cookie and couldn't say Lukey when she was littler and she called him Cookie.

This is my favorite picture of him EVER! We took him to ride the train when Thomas the Tank was in town to pull it. (he was 3) We are in an open car and the train is going around a curve and he is looking ahead and seeing that we are being pulled by Thomas. His little eyes are just sparklin'!

and just to be a little on topic, here he is playing peek-a-boo with Tigger (and wearing his first Mickey mouse hat):

I have a cute one of him holding Lily, but he has no shirt on and I did not want to askeer Miss Cammie :rotfl:

And I actually do still sew. Today I made a copy of Lily's skull outfit for her baby cousin to wear to Disneyland next week.

Oh my goodness, he is so stinkin cute!!!! I love that look on his face!!! How priceless!!! He sure was a cute little baby too!!!

First, I can't believe they sold you a used machine!!! :scared1: But, I guess that turned out to be a good thing!!! I am soooo jealous of your embroidery machine though!!!! Let us know how you like it!!

P.S. If Miss Cammie didn't get scared off by my rendition of the diarrhea song, I'd say we're safe. Although, she may have missed that low point on the disboutiquers thread.
That was just for me, wasn't it! :rotfl:

How's this? :rotfl2: no idea how I got the black dot on Lily's blanket:confused3
P1030210-1.jpg

OOOOOOHHHHH!!!! DOUBLE cuteness!!!!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!

Since we're sharing photos of our kids when they were little :goodvibes I couldn't resist sharing this one of Zoe. She's wearing a sweater and hat I crocheted for her. I think that's about the only crochet project for her I've ever actually finished.

sweater1.jpg

Well, since our local Wal Mart didn't have any more Keds' type canvas shoes for me to paint, I had to go with some high tops I'd already bought. These are much simpler in design but I'm very pleased with how they came out.

minnie_shoes1.jpg

These will go with a set I'm still working on that will be somewhat like the Tink set I finally finished. Here's the front panel. I'm trying to decide if I want the back to be the Minnie dot only or do "rhumba ruffles" in various dot prints. I'm leaning toward the latter since I think it would be really cute and I probably won't be able to get Zoe to wear something like that in a year or two.

Steph - that shirt/dress is really cute! I ay have to go on the hunt for a shirt like that. Was ther enough left over to make Meagan's AG one too?

Your crocheted set is adorable. As is Zoe!

I'm with you on the rhumba ruffles. You need to ruffle while the ruffling is good! :)

Edited to add:

Simple? You call a portrait of Minnie on a young child's shoes simple? Gorgeous, yes. Simple? Not in this lifetime! *LOL*

I was a serious disappointment to my mother. I absolutely detested ruffles from a very early age. She still made some incredible outfits for me, though. :thumbsup2

Thanks, everyone! :goodvibes

HeatherSue posted the pictures of Peter, Wendy, etc. about two weeks ago on this very thread, after she made hers that I CASE'd.

The Aurora came from the WalMart pillowcase. I'm still deciding what kind of top to applique Belle and Cinderella on.

I always obsure faces - DH and I are privacy fanatics. Has anyone but me googled 'boutique Disney'? The original super-thread was in the top 3. This thread is on the top page. Not to mention the photobucket thread - which I love! - is probably accessed by even more people.

Tomorrow I've promised to make "Lisa", our my Disney Girl, a new outfit. It's her reward for a great week at school. I tell you, having Kaitlyn pick out fabric is always an excercise in patience...or is it frusteration? She's ran through 4 outfit choices in 10 minutes, then picks out fabrics that clash in both color and pattern... If I'm going to do this, it's going to coordinate! A 'famous' sewer has to make clothes that coordinate!

Using 2 computers is throwing me off. I've probably already quoted these but oh well!

Like many others from Florida, Michigan, and the UK, we spent last week in WDW:

Deb

LOVE your photos and outfits! I feel a CASE coming on with that Aurora outfit! I love the patchwork twirl skirt--in fact, I just bought some shoes to match it :rotfl:

If I missed anyone... I am sorry and thank you! It was definately a bittersweet project; these are among the first I made by myself. my mom taught me how to quilt and she passed away last year. But I had a lot of fun and I am happy you like them. :goodvibes

My mom taught me to quilt and sew. It has been almost 3 years since she died. She would be proud of your quilts!

YEAH...I am so excited I just bought CarlaC's Easy Fit Pants pattern!!!! I can't wait to try it out. I have to take DD to dance and I plan on reading the pattern while I wait, then it is time to hit the fabric stores!!! :cool1:

(Hey...I just had to share that with all of you)!!!!

I made some of those today too! How did yours turn out?

We just booked TODAY!!! with Carnival. It's a 5 night out of Tampa. We can't wait. It's at the end of the summer, so I actually have a chance to get tan before I go. I've only sailed Disney, but I purchased a Carnival cruise several times as gifts for people and they've loved it! :)

:yay: how fun! My brother and SIL cruise a lot and often with kids. They said they thought Carnival was the funnest cruise line to take kids on. I'm sure you'll have a great time. Where do you stop?

Wow! First of all, Zoe was a beautiful baby! She reminds me of Lily's friend Kobe. He is a boy but he was such a beautiful baby everyone thought he was a girl! And I love the Minnie applique and shoes! You make me want to try piecing together a really big applique!

Zoe's OK with ruffles but last summer she announced she wanted to wear "normal" clothes so I've tried to be more sensitive to that when I make things for her. I think she's starting to appreciate my efforts a bit more, though, since several of her friends have seen my work in progress and commented on how lucky she is. I'm hoping peer pressure works in my favor on this. :goodvibes

As for the "simple" design, it is simpler in comparison to the Tink shoes. :rotfl: On these, I only painted one side of each shoe and left the other side and toe area as is. I'll admit I couldn't leave them that way so I painted the background. The side and toes are still plain... but we still have 3 weeks before we leave. :rolleyes1

WHAT is with my luck today???
Foster dog was supposed to come home tomorrow, then at 10:30am they said today at 3-4. Okay fine. so that kills any plans of sewing or shopping

I go to pick dog up- this is SUPPOSE to be a 1 deal treatment I was told. I have already had this dog 4 weeks- which is what I said was my limit-well I said 5. samething. The plan was to be able to adopt her out within the next 3-4 weeks since she was a really light positive and shes a puppy-so it should be an easy treatment for her. Her paperwork says she has to come in for a second injection in 4 weeks. This may mean I have her for another 4-7 weeks. No matter how annoyed I am I am not the type to transfer a dog to another foster home.

I get home, DD is EVERYWHERE, I close all the bed/bathroom doors. Shes out with me- then in the tupperware cabinet in the kitchen. Then I hear her coughing and crying, I leap up and run out there and it appears as though she has eaten Dawn liquid dish detergent and shes throwing up. I frantically call Poison control. Im not sure if she ate a package of Cascade drop-ins- although I cant see any open. Turns out those cause bad burns. But it looks like it was just the soap. Shes perfectly fine now-sipping water and obivious. poison control is now required to call back and check on us....sigh.....
she wreaks of Dawn now...(and yes I have those safety things on the doors I can put them on, but I forgot to latch it) Crapola Mom Award of the century

tried to call DH to see if he would bring me home chinese since hes practically on a food strike due to a competition at his work that ends monday. he must have left without calling me.....isnt this the second friday night I have missed my dinner because of something DH did or didnt do?????? I am not up for cooking (ie making a mess of my kitchen) for just me.

Tomorrow DH does taxes- should be fun around here. NOT.

Really I'll be laughing at myself- in a few weeks.

Oh and for those who dont know Travel Channel is doing a "Samantha Brown's Disney Favorites" tonight at 9pm!!!!

You are NOT a crapola mommy!!! All kids do things like this. I think they are in cahoots with the "child lock" people...children are bribed with things to do stuff to freak their parents out so their parents pay outrageous prices to have their homes professionally "child proofed". I prefer stuff like tape...and threatning eyebrow arching...and threats! :flower3: ;)

I SOOOO DVR'd Samantha Browns Disney Favorites!!!:cool1: I can't WAIT to watch it!!! I have all her Disney holiday specials and all of her Great Hotel Disney episodes on DVR as well! That woman has the BEST job in the entire world. Hands down...best job. Color me green!!!:thumbsup2

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I'm only askeered...of nekkid bums in PUBLIC...bare chested babies on the Dis are okay...as long as they aren't in the kitchen. Cuz I have that rule...about having to have a shirt on to be in the kitchen...and pants. Basically no nekkidness IN the kitchen.

my little munchkins are such nudie-patooties they'd march around nekkid all day long if I'd let them! I told Teddy this evening after his bath to run in and get his boxers on...Sally was having a bloody nose situation so I was tending to that...when I went into his room he was coloring away...his boxers pulled up to about his knees...at which point I guess he got distracted by his crayons and forgot to pull them the rest of the way up! :rotfl2: This is NOT the first time I've found him in this state of partial dress either!

Your babies are SO gorgeous. That pictures of Luke seeing Thomas the Tank Engine pulling the train he was actually riding...absolutely hall of fame gorgeous picture! GORGEOUS!!

How's this? :rotfl2: no idea how I got the black dot on Lily's blanket:confused3

That Minnie is absolute PERFECTION!!! I love love LOVE the sneaks!!! Your little one is very blessed to have such a talented mommy!!!:goodvibes

Slighty_obsessed- I  those quilts- lots of work to get ALL those seems to be perfect! Thanks for the BIGGER pictures!! I love all the different fabrics- did you get to use some of your moms stash to make them? I hope they were a healing project for you- to do something she taught you!! :goodvibes I'm sure you missed her too though!! Great Great Job!!

It was pretty much all for her stash... she loved her fabric. I don't think it rivaled Camelotcats, but it was dang near close. Her sewing room had so much fabric, the sewing machine didn't fit in it. :thumbsup2 She collected for a good 35+ years and had fabulous taste, if I do say so myself. I'm pretty much set for life... except buying fabric is so much fun. :rolleyes1

Last night I was trying to sew a Tinkerbell dress and I changed the stitch to one of the decorative stitches and the wheel that you turn to change the stitch type broke and now the wheel just turns freely. :headache: I told DH what happened and he said, "Well maybe you should just get another one. I don't think the one you have is made for all of the sewing you have been doing." So today I get to go look for a new sewing machine. I am so happy. I think he is ok with me getting a new machine, because the one I have has started squeaking real bad. I have oiled every part that I have been able to get to and it just won't stop.

   (i think the banana is so stinking cute! congrats on the new machine!)

I love the quilts! I wish I had time to attempt something like that..

that's how I feel about the customs you guys put out! Honestly, I'll work on it a couple nights in a row then take a break. the hardest time was deciding whether to sew or go to the disboards. :lmao:

These are awesome quilts!! I'm thinking it would be awesome to do one using fabrics from some of my kid's outgrown clothes.

I think that would look awesome! I think it would be great to have something that sentimental that you can use regularly. There's a variation of the quilt where the hexagons are the same and the triangles change; it's really cute!

I need to change that so people know that we like nice sized pictures in the origianal post! :)

NOW she tells me. I'll keep it in mind for next time. :thumbsup2

My Discover card found a darling little Coach bag it had been wanting. Discover card has such LOVELY taste in bags!!!:flower3:

He ALLOWS us sit on the couch...as long as he gets to be in the middle...and as long as Jay doesn't try to hold my hand or anything!:rotfl2:

I'm so happy for your Discover card! Our dog Jasmine (the redish brown one in my signiture) still occasionally tries to get between my hubbie and I whenever we hug each other. :sad2: Haven't been able to break that habit... Maybe because it just makes me laugh.....

oh yeah you! that's really cute! I love how you reimagined that poor abandoned easter shirt

You did a fantastic job! I just love that tinkerbell fabric...

My mom taught me to quilt and sew. It has been almost 3 years since she died. She would be proud of your quilts!

that's so sweet... thank you!

twob4him hooray for the report card. sorry she was sick though. :sad1:

Eyore4Ever149 here's to hoping it all works out! :flower3:

teresajoy & heathersue hope your grandma has a speedy recovery! and that your mom doesn't get too tired.

I know I didn't quote them all, but I LOVED all the creations that you guys shared today. You never cease to amaze me w/ your creativity and talents.

side note... this post took waaaaaay long. i've been watching the Samantha Brown special and I kept getting distracted :rotfl: can't imagine why.... :upsidedow

So glad you asked!!! I adore her name too!!! Do you want the long version or the short one??

Ok, long it is!!!

When I was about 13 or so, my Mom bought these little books for my Grandma and Grandpa to fill out. It asked questions about when they were little, the things they liked, etc... And, one of the questions was what their parents names were. Well, lo and behold, unbeknownst to my Mother, my Grandpas' Mom's name was, can you guess??? can yah can yah???? Yep, my Grandpa's Mom's name (my Great-Grandma) was Arminda. They had ALWAYS called her Minnie though. Minnie is even on her gravestone. :confused3

So, I had always had it at the back of my mind that I would someday name a daughter Arminda. But, first, we had Corey who would have been Kaylee if he was a girl (Brian thought Keilie Shaye Smith was really cute.....) then, we had Quinn, then Gavin, and when I got pregnant again. I told Brian I wanted to name this baby Arminda. (At this time, we really didn't think that she was going to make it though.) He didn't say yes and he didn't say no, so I just started calling her Arminda. Obviously, she did make it  and was a girl, so I got my wish! Her middle name is Sue, just like her Aunt HEather!

Ok, if you wanted the short version:

She's named after her Great-Great-Grandmother!

Oh, and a funny thing that my Grandma told me about my Great-Grandma Arminda. When her husband died, she said, "I don't know why he died before me, I'm MUCH sicker!" :rotfl:

Funny, funny Great Grandma! That's a wonderful, sentimental story. Thanks for sharing that with us.

Minnie huh????? COuld there be an underlying message in all that??? ;)

This picture of Zoe looks like a picture of a baby doll. She is so cute. Jenna used to do the same thing with her tongue all of the time. She didn't learn to keep her tongue in her mouth until she was about a year old.

Quick statement....I am making the Daisy Kingdom pattern 2988 (you know the one with the beach picture....it looks like an apron kind of). Anyways, I am working on the bodice and when I got to step 6, it says to attach the bodice front to the bodice front lining. Here's the problem. It never said anything anywhere else about cutting out a lining. Not on the envelope or in the cutting diagrams or on the bodice piece itself. Nothing. I am going to go ahead and cut a lining (perhaps this is something that more experienced sewers automatically know to do???) but I am quite annoyed that they sprung it on me in step 6. Hummpffff......Daisy Kingdom is nothing like Carla C's loverly pattern and directions! :snooty: :snooty: :snooty: Well this better work. Ok back to the drawing/cutting board

I made this dress a few weeks ago, and it really is a pain in the tooshie! The only way you would know is that in cutting diagram one, they show that you cut two of the bodice pieces (piece #1) on the fold.

These are the cutest! They make me want to try to learn to knit again.

I love that Stephanie!!! It looks so pretty on Megan! Great job!!!

Megan says that Arminda is cute in her doggie outfit. Thanks for fixing it so we could see it better!

 for your mom taking care of your grandma. What a big job.

Stephres- CUTE!!!!! I have a Micey Mouse camp shirt I'm going to doe that to!

Cute! Can't wait to see it.

:rotfl2: about the XL teen getting rid of his easter shirt.

I love this dress! I've been wanting to try that with a button-up shirt, but haven't got a shirt to use yet. This is so cute and unique!!! Megan looks even CUTER than usual in these pictures!

It was so funny, I was looking through the racks, which consisted mostly drab gray and brown Hollister shirts when I found it. It was totally out of place!

Megan agrees that she does look cuter than usual in those pictures. :rotfl2:

I LOVE Coach wristlets!! My engagement ring was presented to me inside one!!! He wanted to clinch the deal by waving a coach bag in front of me!

SUPER darling dress!!! My goodness...how I wish I could see a shirt in a shop somewhere and think to myself..."I think I'll turn this shirt into a competely adorable dress today..." Wow! That is called TALENT!!

yeah...Megan looks like she could get out of trouble pretty easily...too cute for words!!!

1) Awwww, sweet story. My DH went to Vegas and brought me back a Coach handbag. Of course, the casino was handing them out free, but still.

2) Um, well, actually there is a tutorial on how to do it on another site, so it didn't really require much creativity on my part. I am not a good creative type, but I do like to copy!

3) Yes she is H-E-double hockey sticks on wheels. At her soccer game last night she spent the majority of the game holding hands and skipping around with the one other girl. When the coach got smart and separated them, she almost scored several times. Stinker!

That looks great, and how resourceful of you to turn a shirt into a dress.

Thanks!

So cute! Those narrow little straps are hard, great job! She looks so cute on her bike.

Oh, I hope you feel better now. I have a friend with very active twins and she had to call poison control several times when they were toddlers. They would work together to get into trouble and they were lightning fast. Please don't beat yourself up about it.

I'm so glad you caught on to my SUBTLE hints!! :lmao:

Ya know that dress you just made out of the shirt??? Wouldn't that look great with my boa??!!!??

Hee! Of course she would look ab-fab with your boa, darling! :rotfl2:

Hey, where is Scrappy?:confused3

:rotfl2: I guess because we weren't in the normal picture spots (the kitchen and back patio) he missed the action. I was trying to give Teresa a different view of the house, because I know she appreciates it.

Love the story: Arminda is a beautiful name and it looks like it suits her to a t. I had an aunt like that. Whenever we would visit her in the nursing home we would ask how she was feeling and she would say, "Terrible!"

Steph, I love Megan's "easter shirt" dress! Very creative. I love the buttons up the back.

I'm too tired to keep up lately--it has been one of those weeks. Today I got my first ticket EVER! (for speeding--but barely, I swear!) DH actually laughed. I think he is thrilled. I have been lording my beautiful spotless driving record over him for 22 years! Now I can't play that anymore. :sad1: At least the cop was very nice, he lowered the fine and instead of lecturing me or adding to my ticket, he very politely reminded me that my driver's liscense is expired :rolleyes1 Luke and Lily chose to flood the bathroom today instead of the lovesac or any sofas so I guess things are looking up. Put me in for that bad mother award, would ya?

Thanks! Sorry about the ticket. At least the cop didn't give you a ticket for the expired license.

Oh my, this is the cutest picture ever! Even Megan came over from playing with play dough to ask what he was looking at. Whenever he does something wrong you should pull out this photo!

Yeah, I had wanted to try it too, but my husband is too slim, I needed an XL size shirt. That's why I went hunting in the trendy second hand shop.

Such great news about the sewing machine: you're going to have so much fun!

That is really cute. I need to try that sometime if I can find a shirt as cute.

Thanks! Compliments from LisaZoe I cherish! :lovestruc

Awww, she was such a cute baby! The sweater looks adorable!

Oh, wow your painting is just perfect! What an artistic eye you have! I can't wait to see the final outfit all put together.

Steph - that shirt/dress is really cute! I ay have to go on the hunt for a shirt like that. Was ther enough left over to make Meagan's AG one too?

Maybe, but I decided to make her a headband instead. There was plenty for a headband, but not much now. I could probably make a skirt.

I made this dress a few weeks ago, and it really is a pain in the tooshie! The only way you would know is that in cutting diagram one, they show that you cut two of the bodice pieces (piece #1) on the fold.

Hey, look at that....you're right. I saw the two piece 7's but not the 2nd bodice. OK I feel a lot better. Is there anything else I should know??? :confused3

Oh my goodness, Zoe was absolutely beautiful (still is)!! Her crocheted outfit is so precious! I love the shoes! You did a fantastic job on that applique!! The lines look SO smooth!

I always obsure faces - DH and I are privacy fanatics. Has anyone but me googled 'boutique Disney'? The original super-thread was in the top 3. This thread is on the top page. Not to mention the photobucket thread - which I love! - is probably accessed by even more people.

Thanks for posting all the wonderful pictures of your DD at WDW!! I loved seeing Wendy pointing out Nana on the back of the Peter Pan outfit!!

If you search on photobucket for "Disney boutique" none of our pictures come up. Our photobucket name is "disboutique", so only people that know about this thread would know to search for that on photobucket. So, I suppose if some sicko knew to search for "disney boutique" on google, found our thread, got the word "disboutique" from it, then went to photobucket and searched for "disboutique", they could look at pictures of our kids. But, most of the photos don't have anyone's names on them and are just numbered. I'm sure most sickos know how to easily find MUCH more intersting photos for themselves, with much less work.

I just don't want anyone freaking out and asking Teresa to remove their photos, because that's WAY too much work and it's not necessary!!
