Thanks for all the advice on the patterns. I am getting the CarlaC's patterns. Now, to convince dh that I need them!

Well, I finally finished the tinkerbelle outfit. This is the first thing I made all by myself. Mom helped me with some of the directions, but I did it all by myslef. Even the elastic. The pattern called for a little ruffle on the capris, but I changed it because I love the bigger ruffle!

WHAT is with my luck today???
Foster dog was supposed to come home tomorrow, then at 10:30am they said today at 3-4. Okay fine. so that kills any plans of sewing or shopping

I go to pick dog up- this is SUPPOSE to be a 1 deal treatment I was told. I have already had this dog 4 weeks- which is what I said was my limit-well I said 5. samething. The plan was to be able to adopt her out within the next 3-4 weeks since she was a really light positive and shes a puppy-so it should be an easy treatment for her. Her paperwork says she has to come in for a second injection in 4 weeks. This may mean I have her for another 4-7 weeks. No matter how annoyed I am I am not the type to transfer a dog to another foster home.

I get home, DD is EVERYWHERE, I close all the bed/bathroom doors. Shes out with me- then in the tupperware cabinet in the kitchen. Then I hear her coughing and crying, I leap up and run out there and it appears as though she has eaten Dawn liquid dish detergent and shes throwing up. I frantically call Poison control. Im not sure if she ate a package of Cascade drop-ins- although I cant see any open. Turns out those cause bad burns. But it looks like it was just the soap. Shes perfectly fine now-sipping water and obivious. poison control is now required to call back and check on us....sigh.....
she wreaks of Dawn now...(and yes I have those safety things on the doors I can put them on, but I forgot to latch it) Crapola Mom Award of the century

tried to call DH to see if he would bring me home chinese since hes practically on a food strike due to a competition at his work that ends monday. he must have left without calling me.....isnt this the second friday night I have missed my dinner because of something DH did or didnt do?????? I am not up for cooking (ie making a mess of my kitchen) for just me.

Tomorrow DH does taxes- should be fun around here. NOT.

Really I'll be laughing at myself- in a few weeks.

Oh and for those who dont know Travel Channel is doing a "Samantha Brown's Disney Favorites" tonight at 9pm!!!!

You did a great job!!! I really love that Tink fabric, and the ruffle looks great!!

Your daughter looks so cute riding her bike!!!

This is for Karebear, who seems to be having "the Megan" withdrawals :rotfl2:

I'm so glad you caught on to my SUBTLE hints!! :lmao:

Ya know that dress you just made out of the shirt??? Wouldn't that look great with my boa??!!!??

Ok, I did something productive today. I went to a trendy second-hand shop and found this cute shirt in size xl. I imagine some large teenager got it for Easter and couldn't wait to get rid of it:

It's so big! I used size 6 but I wanted her to be able to wear it a lot. It was my first time doing the ruffled elastic straps, and I love them!

Hey, where is Scrappy?:confused3

Quick statement....I am making the Daisy Kingdom pattern 2988 (you know the one with the beach picture....it looks like an apron kind of). Anyways, I am working on the bodice and when I got to step 6, it says to attach the bodice front to the bodice front lining. Here's the problem. It never said anything anywhere else about cutting out a lining. Not on the envelope or in the cutting diagrams or on the bodice piece itself. Nothing. I am going to go ahead and cut a lining (perhaps this is something that more experienced sewers automatically know to do???) but I am quite annoyed that they sprung it on me in step 6. Hummpffff......Daisy Kingdom is nothing like Carla C's loverly pattern and directions! :snooty: :snooty: :snooty: Well this better work. Ok back to the drawing/cutting board

Sorry you're having a rough time, if it makes you feel any better, little ones manage to get in trouble even if you do everything in your power to make them safe. Little ones get hurt and put weird stuff in their mouths, I'm just glad she's OK. BTW if you've won the crapola mom award, does that mean I need to forward the trophy on to you? :rolleyes1 I thought I'd won it already for about a million different incidents

Oh and for those who dont know Travel Channel is doing a "Samantha Brown's Disney Favorites" tonight at 9pm!!!!

We had a dog eat a box of Girl Scout cookies. Not just the cookies, but the box and all the wrapper. There was not a drop of evidence left behind. So we had no clue until he threw up CHOCOLATE MINT COOKIES all over the place. The place was minty fresh for sure!

Miss Teresa- I just love your DD's name and I've always wondered how you came up with it. I've never heard her name before. So.... do tell!!! What's the story morning glory???

So glad you asked!!! I adore her name too!!! Do you want the long version or the short one??

Ok, long it is!!!

When I was about 13 or so, my Mom bought these little books for my Grandma and Grandpa to fill out. It asked questions about when they were little, the things they liked, etc... And, one of the questions was what their parents names were. Well, lo and behold, unbeknownst to my Mother, my Grandpas' Mom's name was, can you guess??? can yah can yah???? Yep, my Grandpa's Mom's name (my Great-Grandma) was Arminda. They had ALWAYS called her Minnie though. Minnie is even on her gravestone. :confused3

So, I had always had it at the back of my mind that I would someday name a daughter Arminda. But, first, we had Corey who would have been Kaylee if he was a girl (Brian thought Keilie Shaye Smith was really cute.....) then, we had Quinn, then Gavin, and when I got pregnant again. I told Brian I wanted to name this baby Arminda. (At this time, we really didn't think that she was going to make it though.) He didn't say yes and he didn't say no, so I just started calling her Arminda. Obviously, she did make it  and was a girl, so I got my wish! Her middle name is Sue, just like her Aunt HEather!

Ok, if you wanted the short version:

She's named after her Great-Great-Grandmother!

Oh, and a funny thing that my Grandma told me about my Great-Grandma Arminda. When her husband died, she said, "I don't know why he died before me, I'm MUCH sicker!" :rotfl:

Here they are! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF THE ENCOURAGEMENT. You were right - this pattern is easy. The sleeves - no problems! Can you tell I'm excited?

Heidi's dress has the lace on the bottom. I decided to put it in front as low as I could. I think it turned out fine. She's doing a ballet position with her hands. :confused3

DSC07982.jpg

I might add a green sash around Aleah's dress. There's just not a lot of room between the arm holes and the waistline. I'm still debating. She has a goofy expression (again).
DSC07983.jpg

Just because it's sweet.
DSC07984.jpg

I used a size 5 for both girls. I think the waist it a bit high. Did anyone else have this problem?

Chantell

The dresses turned out great!

I had such a long multi-quote going that I became overwhelmed and gave up!

I have picture of the dog party, but it mostly consists of kids sitting on a couch. I didn't get pictures of the cute games and such my mom played with them.

But, I did get a picture of the shirt I just finished for my mom. Isn't she the cutest Mom in the world?
DSC07286Large.jpg

DSC07284Medium.jpg

She has recently lost 20 pounds!!! Im so proud of her!!

This shirt gave me a few problems. It's the first thing I ever made for a grown-up (besides Corey's baby pants :rolleyes1 ). The sleeves were way too small, so I had to completely re-cut the armholes based on a shirt that had sleeves that fit her well. I also had to make new sleeves based on that shirt. Once I did that, it went together pretty well- darts and all.

It turned out great! I love seeing pictures of your mom because I know what a great mom she is and that reminds me of my mom. When I hear of all the special things she does with the grandkids it really makes me miss my mom. Maybe she will adopt me when Luke and Tessa get married. I hate being an orphan. Yep, I'm in self pity mode.

Okay, I have another long multi-quote on my other computer so if I left you out that is why. Teresa, I love Arminda's doggy dress! Steph, I love Megan's "easter shirt" dress! Very creative. I love the buttons up the back.

I'm too tired to keep up lately--it has been one of those weeks. Today I got my first ticket EVER! (for speeding--but barely, I swear!) DH actually laughed. I think he is thrilled. I have been lording my beautiful spotless driving record over him for 22 years! Now I can't play that anymore. :sad1: At least the cop was very nice, he lowered the fine and instead of lecturing me or adding to my ticket, he very politely reminded me that my driver's liscense is expired :rolleyes1 Luke and Lily chose to flood the bathroom today instead of the lovesac or any sofas so I guess things are looking up. Put me in for that bad mother award, would ya?

That is such a pretty outfit! I love the fabric, and your DD is such a cutie! Good to see her wearing her helmet! :thumbsup2

Stinker dog in your house for another 4-7 weeks?! That's all you need right now!

Sawyer got his bottle of vitamins off the counter, opened the "childproof" cap and was eating them like candy the other day. Kids are SO fast, it's impossible to keep them out of everything.

Ya know that dress you just made out of the shirt??? Wouldn't that look great with my boa??!!!??

Yes, my mom will most certainly adopt you when Tessa and Luke get married. Her name is Barbara, just like my SIL, BTW.

I hear you on the ticket thing. I had never had a ticket until 2 years ago. I was following behind Henry to the hospital to have my ultrasound done when I was pregnant with Sawyer. I was trying to keep up with him and not paying attention when I got pulled over for going 25mph in a 40mph zone!!! The police officer was very nice and only wrote me for 5 miles over. To this day, I think he clocked Henry and not me. Henry still mocks me that he doesn't have any points on his license and I do (although he totalled 3 cars before his 17th birthday). So, I feel your pain.

Okay, and because I was such a bad mommy posting pics of all my kids except one, and because I am on the computer with the old pictures, and because I would rather look at his sweet little guy face than deal with whatever havoc he is currently wreaking, and because Teresa asked, here are some pics of little Lukey, or "Cookie" as he is called because Lily could say Cookie and couldn't say Lukey when she was littler and she called him Cookie.

This is my favorite picture of him EVER! We took him to ride the train when Thomas the Tank was in town to pull it. (he was 3) We are in an open car and the train is going around a curve and he is looking ahead and seeing that we are being pulled by Thomas. His little eyes are just sparklin'!

and just to be a little on topic, here he is playing peek-a-boo with Tigger (and wearing his first Mickey mouse hat):

I have a cute one of him holding Lily, but he has no shirt on and I did not want to askeer Miss Cammie :rotfl:

And I actually do still sew. Today I made a copy of Lily's skull outfit for her baby cousin to wear to Disneyland next week.

My Mom just called with some good news. They think that maybe Grandma didn't have a blood infection after all. And, she may be coming home this afternoon!

So, if you could all say some prayers for her speedy recovery, and for my Mom to keep her sanity, that would be great!
I'm sending prayers your way.

Off to the soccer field, wristlet-less, all my money and cell phone crammed in my overpriced jeans pocket, have a good night all!
I love the dress. I too want to use that tutorial. I just haven't found a shirt that I want to convert.

Ok since ya'll asked I have finished my new sewing machine quest. I started out this morning going to Wal-Mart because oddly enough it is the only store around here that sells sewing machines. So I bought a Brother SC 6000i. I got it home opened the box and found that the machine was old and had been used. It was covered in dust and still had a bobbin in it. :scared1: It went right back. Well I wasn't planning on spending a fortune, so I decided to cross the river and go to the next twon over (15 mins in the car) Well DH decided that he would go with me because he likes the Pineville Wal-Mart. Well they didn't have the same machine that I liked, but DH sees the one that I really want and says, "Hey this one does all of the stuff that you want to do." He ended up talking me into buying the machine that was 3 times as much as the machine that I payed for this morning. :scared1: So I am now the very proud owner of a Brother SE-350. :woohoo: It does everything. It just put a casserole in the oven for dinner. :rotfl: It does embroidery. I'll take a pic after awhile and post it. I also fell in love with their fabric department and have decided that I will be crossing the river the next time I want fabric. I spent $50 on fabric and still didn't feel like I had enough. They had three times as much fabric as the Wal-Mart around here.

P.S. If Miss Cammie didn't get scared off by my rendition of the diarrhea song, I'd say we're safe. Although, she may have missed that low point on the disboutiquers thread.
