With all this talk of cake... I just wanted to share a quick photo of the cake I made for DD's birthday last month.
th_cakeIMG_0214.jpg

That's is great! Did you use the Wilton set that comes with all the turrets? I found thwat while I was looking for a Mickey pan & man, I wish I'd found it last year for dd4's birthday.

That Lily is seriously one of the cutest little girls I've ever seen. All sugar, spice and sunshine. :lovestruc I love your skull applique too. THe heart eyes make it totally girly!

I am so mad right now I cant even see straight!!!
I went out to run some errands and pop into Joanns to check out patterns and see if any new Disney came in...nope, even less than last week- but I did buy some fabric for making pjs and some patterns and othe goodies. Okay cool.
Time to go home
I get home, I keep my dogs in my bedroom, its where their dog beds are. And I have "experimented on a few short forays out with putting Kayla the foster in with them instead of in her crate- shes been great so far. Well NOT today!!!
Megan was in there with me while I was getting ready and had that babydoll with her. She left the doll in the room...the dolls clothes were ripped from her body, hands and feet eaten. I'd take a picture, but it's like trying to photograph a crime sceen- I just cant do it. I picked up her fingers and stuff and put her in the trash to have my toddler look and me and say "BeeBee?" and then bring me one of her shoes. I could just cry. Kayla is here for at least another 3 weeks. I think after that, as much as I love fostering Im gonna take a break. Or take dogs over the age of 5, who wont chew wires on phones, laptops, dolls, wooden blocks, etc.
THe good thing is I dont think that doll was expensive.
she sort of looked like this
16182_c.jpg

Oh my goodness, that's so sad! My DD has 3 of those type of dolls and they are wonderful. Garrett is about the size of the one pictured, Emma is an 18" and Ethan is the newest member of the family and he is 20". They are very cuddly and perfectly weighted and their faces are so lifelike. DD loves that the 2 biggger ones can wear real baby clothes (which I can pick up cheaper and they wash 100% better than the doll clothes they make these days!!). You can buy them at WalMart, K-Mart and Toys-R-US. I think the ones we have were all under $20.

The scrap is to represent the Mickey Head- which I have not cut out until I have ya'll's opinion.

I like it without the Mickey head and I love that yellow fabric you used with the print - Very cute!

I think I'm going to attempt a peasant top or dress. I've never done sleeves bofore. I'll use the YCMT pattern. Any suggestions/recommendations before I begin? Fabric choices? Can you tell I'm a bit nervous?

Peasant tops are a great intro to sleeves! They are not set in like the sleeves on a regular dress or top, so it's so much easier. I'm so far behind, you're probably finished 3 of them by now. ;)

Invisible Lady - It looks like I lost your nautical outfit somehow, but it was absolutely fabulous and Ireland is a true beauty.

Another new thread? I kept wondering why I hadn't seen any cool clothes in a bit!

I don't have a picture of the night gown that I just made Jenna (because she is wearing it in bed), but I have to tell why I made a night gown tonight. Yesterday Jenna picked out two flannel fabrics for me to make jammies with. Well tonight after her shower she informs me that she wants to wear one of her new gowns. So I told her that they are not made and to please wear one that she already has. She said "I can wait. I'll just cover up in your bed and watch TV." :lmao: So I made a pink and Tinkerbell night gown so my child would be happy and not niked.

Now that's real Mommy love. So sweet.

Thank-you! After looking at the site, I'm thinking about a second mortgage :goodvibes . There are tons of precious patterns!!

I guess I should post more photos of Ireland actually looking decent. She usually wears her hair curly to school, but when we're home on the weekend, I don't fuss with it. She gets the standard ponytail.
Here is another outfit that I finished lately. The front part, on the bodice, instead of doing a ruffle, I tried to copy Aurora's white part on her dress. I'm not sure if I like it or not..I love the jeans though, I made button holes in the denim and laced ribbon through.. I will definately be doing this again.
th_IrelandandLexieChristmas20071753.jpg

sorry to edit...but I wanted to add, that I made the little roses on the dress, and they go all the way around the dress.

Oh, I love the dress! What pattern did you use? I ask this knowing that there is no way I'm going to do all of those ruffles but I love it! How fantastic that college is paid for!

th_cakeIMG_0214.jpg

Love the cake! Since both of my DD's bdays are in the summer and baby #3 is due right in between them, I won't be doing anything too fantastic for their parties. I know I'm NOT having them in my house and my youngest one is going to be at a bounce house place but I'm trying to scale back my usual involvement in them. Last year they were both way too much work and I really don't know who cares more, me and the other parents or the kids. I suspect it is a case of keeping up with the Jones's and I'm done keeping up! I wish I had the time to learn to decorate a cake like that though! I can decorate cookies but I haven't tried cakes. Trying to scale back on the cost of the parties I've resigned myself that I will get their cakes from Sam's Club or Costco instead of the bakery that does beautiful but expensive cakes. I guess I have time to learn between now and then though!

I'm loving everyones outfits and dogs!

I have to share a pic of our bestest bud... "Colby" Is our first born. He turned 14 Last week.
avatarcoplby.jpg
Best dog a person could ask for. He is so much a part of the family. He goes everywhere with us except airplane vacations. At that time his big treat is staying with Grammy... She spoils him rotten.

Well I'm back to the sewing machine. I hope to finish my matron of honor dress today.

We got DD's school pictures back. I'm glad we went with the lemons! Not too bad for school pictures...

She looks adorabe! I love the lemons.

Thanks everyone for the peasant top encouragement. I guess I should start cutting. :scared:

Elisa, your work is so incredibly gorgeous.

*Can someone help me out? I'm trying to track down the Marie fabric that a couple of you used to make tops and jumpers for your dd's. I found a little bit on :wizard: but it's from Asia. Is that where you bought it? I'm worried about the safety of buying something from Asia. I NEED that fabric. Or the one with Marie and suckers that I found. Or both. :lmao:

We've been at Great Wolf Lodge over the weekend and now I'm back and going to sit down and work on dd's Cinderella twirl skirt again.

Thanks!

cute picture! I'm glad you picked the lemons too. I voted for that one, just not "out loud" :rotfl: I have that lemon fabric to make Lily a dress.

Both of your girls always look decent, the curly hair just adds WOW factor. Love this dress too. I really like how you imitated the actual princess dress with the white on the bodice.

That's a very cool cake! My kids think that all birthday cakes come from the bakery at the supermarket. :rolleyes1

Nothing like a little pressure! That is such a sweet story though. She obviously has lots of faith in you.

Hi All
Ok I am ready to get going on a couple projects- I picked up the butterick 5019 that everyone was very fond of a while back. And I wanted to ask if there were any tips anyone wanted to share. I will post pictures of the fabric in the am, I want to do different colors for the front and back.I bought bias tape for the edges. I also have a few questions. A) Did you line it? It looks like you may want to line the front piece as you could see the wrong side of the fabric. :confused3 B) It also looks like many of you put different straps on it- is that from the ycmt pattern?

I also want to make some more tulle tutus- I want to try the ribbon ones- wasn't it flea who posted about those- I think that is your red headed cutie in the picture. I thought I had saved the instructions but I can't find where that is

Alright off to bed.....
Good morning :goodvibes

Here's a link to Shannon's site where she compiled the information that others shared on this thread.

Those came out really cute! I was voting for that top too, but it was like 4 or 5 days after the pictures were already taken. :rotfl: I made DD a new peasant top this weekend for her pictures on Friday. Last night I was filling out the paperwork and see that it says, " For best results avoid wearing green." Guess what color DD's top is? :sad2:

Here are the Hannah Montana outfits I made the girls. I'm not too excited about them but the girls love them so that's good.

this guitar shirt is a total CAB and the edges need some more fraying:

and here she is wearing the shirt to school today (she did her own hair :sad2: )
IMG_0037.jpg

Lily's shirt is an iron-on from Joanns (the hearts are kinda fuzzy). She calls it her "rock shirt" and she really LOVES the purple sparkly ric rac! She just sits and plays with it.

and just because I have created a posing maniac!

So her goes nothing or hopefully something...this is my first time posting photos and I hope I did it right:rolleyes1

Since the machine is dead I did some stuff by hand, which will not be a lot!

This is a shirt I picked up from Goodwill for $2 ( I love a bargain!) and my DD8 came up with the idea to embelish the top and shorts.
IM000788.jpg

These are her hairbows. She is very proud of them!:goodvibes
IM000789.jpg

My DS6 is a HUGE LE fan...just some iron on for him...I'm doing his shirt later.
IM000786.jpg

IM000787.jpg

This is some fabric I picked up at Hobby Lobby (my new favorite place) and the front off of some overalls my late MIL gave to me while I was pregnant. She gave me a junior size, while I was prego!:confused3 I have not seen a junior size since:rolleyes1 ....so I saved them and knew I would do something with them some day. :woohoo: I am going to make a top for my DD.
IM000790.jpg

And here is the gang on easter...all store bought outfits.

Thanks!

I did get mine from :wizard: and it came from Malaysia. The seller doesn't have any more in the pink that I used, but they do have a green. PM me if you want the sellers ID.

Leslie, didn't you just get back from Great Wolf Lodge?
