I bought CarlaC's newest pattern, and this is what I made with it...an Animal Kingdom outfit. A great pattern!

For those of you who made pajamas/night gowns for your kids, what kind of fabric do you use? Do you just use any cotton fabric, flannels....etc? My dd just requested that I make her some pajamas. Last night, after her bath time, she told my dh that she wanted some "dress pajamas". DH told her that she will have to talk to me, and maybe I will take her out shopping and buy her one! Immediately, she told him.."NO!!! Mama should make them, not buy them!!" LOL...I love that she wants me to sew for her!!!

I used flannel for DD's nightgown. Its the Portrait Peasant dress ebook (YCMT) I love it!! I plan on making her a short sleeve one for Spring.

Yay, I bought this pattern and haven't tried it yet. It looks lovely :) I love your fabric choices and you did wonderful on those appliques. I use an embroidery machine and I am always so impressed with those who can do lovely appliques without one :)

Thanks for reminding me of these. I think that I am going to make some for DD today. I made her some that have two peices. She loves them, but I think that the top looks funny.

Those outfits just make me smile!! They are too cute!!! You did a great job on those appliques!!

I've just used regular cotton and flannel. I have some satiny flannel backed material I'm planning on using too. I think it's cute that your daughter wanted you to make her some and not buy them!

I made this for Drew to wear to Princesses on ice tomorrow night.

I was actually making the pants for a different outfit, but they matched this too, so I skipped making the ruffled jeans I had planned.

That Tink looks familiar...;) I love those pants. I need to make some pants this summer, but dresses are so much more fun.

Returning from hiatus here & in need of some DIS expert advise.:teacher:

Ok, I love the classic look of Madra shorts with plain colored golf shirts for boys. I'm so psyched that they seem to be popular again!!:thumbsup2  Here's the 411 on what "Madras" look like:
ONClassicMadras.jpg

I really had wanted to do matching sets for Easter. I've been watching the stores & I'm just too frugal to spend retail $.:confused3

Also, my ds(6) has acquired an aversion to pants/shorts with buttons & or zippers this year:( ! So I'm thinking, I can just "whip up" some shorts with elastic or draw string waist band? Shorts, similar to the Madra look, with little cargo type pockets at the sides. Call me crazy??

I've seen that patchwork material at both JoAnns & Hancocks before. I don't have any of the handy dandy 50% coupons right now. It still should be less to make these shorts than pay $20 each pair, retail $, right?:teacher: Or has spring break already made me nuts?:rotfl:

I was at Joann's yesterday and the madras fabric was 40% off. I don't know how long the sale is on, but I picked up several yards because I love this type of fabric.

AWESOME! I love the ruffle fabric. Did you get it at fabricbliss.com?

I think it looks great!

If anyone asks, and they don't know the movie, just say it is Lady Godiva, and that is the way it should look!;)

Did anyone else get the new YCMT newsletter? I was mentioned with the purse I made. Yikes!

Does this make me a SUPERSTAR?:cool2:

We've always known you're a superstar, Tom! I've not seen the newsletter, but I'm gonna check it out for sure now!

Very Cute! I love that animal fabric. I've been eyeing it for a zoo outfit this summer. I think your Mickeys look great. Those curves are pretty hard.

Anyone full of advise this morning?

How do y'all finish your edges? Let me go deeper, A princess seam around the bust line.
Do you serge the rough edges? Do you stich a straight stich, clip the curve, then serge?

Just serge?

Finish some other way?

Also... When a dress calls for a lining do you try to match material content?

On an easy note! I love all the new outfits posted!:flower3:

cute horton. Did anyone see food network challenge when they did dr seuss cakes. One guy did horton hears a who cake it was so cute. (but my favorite - the cat in the hat won)

Love the tinkerbell set. Pants turned out great.

YES! The kids and I love watching the food network challenges! This one was really good - they all did a fantastic job!

I never looked at the price per yard on that fabric so I am not sure how much it would cost for the shorts - but I am super excited to see what you make!

do you mean seen edges - serge

Do you serge the rough edges? Do you stich a straight stich, clip the curve, then serge?
do you mean edges that are never seen? Never finish those a waist of time.

Also... When a dress calls for a lining do you try to match material content?
honestly it depends on the outside material and what it is needed for

What fabric is this? It's beautiful!

Heather, those Cars shorts are so cute!

2cutekidz - I just finished that same pattern. I made the pants also and I think they may be a little too wide-legged. I'm afraid they look like clown pants. Of course, I used some bright stripes, so that doesn't help the clown pant feeling. Maybe they'll look better on. My model is napping, so I'll have to try them on her later. Here is the complete outfit -

I've really got to get started on Ella's princess on ice outfit. We're going this Saturday. :scared1: I bought that seersucker princess fabric at WalMart the other day, I just can't come up with an idea.

Nevermind! This answers my question!

I just bought this fabric at Hobby Lobby last week (all 3 prints). I haven't decided what to do with it yet. Just added it to my stash. Your outfit is very cute! Now I'm anxious to do something with this. But first I've got to get the Daisy Kingdom thing done I'm working on.

So fun! I love to do pj's for the kids - they are usually such a quick project and they love them. I can't even fir all of DD's pj's in her drawer - LOL! I use either flannel or flannel backed satin.

I was wondering some of the same. I have only made a few things with my serger - and was wondering how to keep corners "clipped" when you serge the edge.
