Really cute stuff! Is it hard to sew the sleeves and all?? My presser foot seems bigger than the armhole!

I thought I would have the same problem but they use cheater methods on these doll patterns. You sew the sleeve into the opening before you sew the seam under the arm. It's not as neat as a set-in sleeve but it works OK for dolly clothing.

Glad you liked them!

So sweet!

Today I was sewing like mad to finish up capri pants for today's Easter Egg Hunt. I noticed that the peasant tops I made to go under the actual Easter dresses need to be adjusted around the neckline.....they were a bit gaping! I'll need to tighten the elastic. But besides that, they came out fine. We went out to lunch afterwards with friends! :woohoo: While it was warmish (60) today, tomorrow is only going to be 40's! Brrrrr!

Here are some pics:

And now I am taking a break from sewing my DD9's outfit. I made the peasant top for her. Its a pretty spring print. Now I have to tackle the skirt. It has an overlining of silver stars....wish me luck!!! :rolleyes1

Cuteness all around!!! I owe you a PM. I will send it in just a few.

I know I am probably too late. We had to make a "quick" although not so "cheap" trek to Jo-Ann's.;)

I added the seam allowance everywhere. It seemed to work out fine! HTH!

Eeek - I know how that goes! Thanks so much - it does help! I also added everywhere except the folds. I can't wait to show you all when it is done. I am hoping it won't be too "babyish" for Emma with the fabrics and trims I picked out!

Sugarbees, you need to post a pic of Saylor's skull outfit so I can CASE it!

Thought I would post pics of two of the outfits I made for Sydni, seeing is how I never have my model at home anymore! Here is the aline top and pants from carla:

and here is a simple sundress(Sydni picked out the fabric):

Looks much better on, but I can't get her to model them for me! This last pic is just because it is sooooo sweet!:

PS- I used the clothes pins because I know how much ya'll LOVE:lovestruc them!:rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Cute! Love the a-line shirt and pants. I would probably sew a lot more if I had a girl. you guys make me want to have just one more. . .

So behind, but I'm not going to let that stop me from showing off.

This is for Snubie who asked if it was dorky to make matching outfits.

This is Simplicity 3513 and Michael Miller fabric I just fell in love with.

It has pockets, which were ridiculously easy!

Up next, my first recon...

LOOOVE it Stephanie!!! That fabric is fabulous!!! Why aren't you modeling yours though? Thanks for the doggy picture!!! I feel so honored! :)

And here is the fabric I am using:
DSC00778-1.jpg

I hope I don't mess it up!
That is beautiful fabric!!!! Where did you get it???

IMG_0123.jpg

And sewed them back on. Voila! A little girl sweater!

IMG_0132.jpg

I have lots of sweaters that are too short for me but since winter is over I think maybe I should wait. I was thinking of trying to make short sleeved sweaters out of them. That might be more practical for around here. I asked a friend last night if it looked hand-made (my fear with recons) but she assured me it looks like I bought it from Gap (yay!).

That looks so great!!! I would never have known it was an adult sweater first!!!

What really amazes me though is how it turned form red to pink!!!

Too cute, I can't decide about the hat pattern, I want it but I hate the idea of paying that much for it.

There are several cloche and newsboy patterns in the bookmarks, if you want to try something for free.

DD and I finished a few more doll clothes. Hope you like them.

DD wanted a bathrobe.

The girls look so pretty in their outfits!!! They turned out great!!!
Hi there! I have been lurking on this board for awhile, admiring everyone's beautiful creations. After all of your inspirations, I decided to try my hand at sewing. How hard could it be, right I settled on a very simple dress with shoulder seams and side seams. I didn't count hemming around the neck and arm holes. I can't get them right! They come out all twisted and pleated. I'm very frustrated!

I am very new to this, the extent of my sewing experience, is putting a few appliciques onto t-shirts.

I would appreciate any insight and advice to what I am doing wrong.

Thanks!
Melinda

:welcome: I see that Nana allready helped you out, so I can't wait to see pictures!

Hello all -
I'm pretty new to the dis and LOVE custom clothing. However, when I say I love custom clothing, I mean I love to BUY custom clothing. I can't sew at all (other than sewing on a button!). !
Please post your outfits! We would love to see them.

SugarBoogerBees and Jhamalama-

Me and Misty JUST NOW decided to go to HL since we're scared the brown and pink floral will be gone like the leopard-santa mishap of last Christmas.

NO makeup or stylishness allowed (because I didn't bother with my makeup, you all must suffer too).

Call Misty's cell phone if you're feeling as spontaneous as we are :rotfl:

Thanks for calling me, girls! Sorry I missed you! Spring cleaning....ugh! I'm yelling this...can you telling I'm yelling?hehe!!!! :rotfl:

Well Wendy, I guess I am missing out on the HL trip. :sad1: I just got home and the kids are coming home from school in an hour. It takes me 30 minutes to drive there and 30 back. I want brown fabric with pink flowers!!! I may have to make sugarbees go get me some! Show me pictures! Don't buy it all! Lily, Jayedyn, Jayden, Norah and Saylor need matching outfits! :rotfl:

YES THEY DO!
And their mamas need to get together SOON!!!!

Here are Lily and Saylor (the first time she ever DIDN'T smile, I think the poor babe is teething) in the outfits Sugarbees made them. Lily was THRILLED! She had to put it on immediately (hence the pile of her discarded clothing in the background) and kept saying "we twins". Too bad she is sitting in the photo and you can't see the cute pants she has on underneath.

IMG_1098.jpg

Cute little girls! hehe... That Lily was cracking me up with that outfit..she really is a princess! :cutie:

Sugarbees, you need to post a pic of Saylor's skull outfit so I can CASE it!

K...I'll get on that!

I get this anxious feeling all the time...like something's missing...I check my purse, I check my keys, I count my kids and then it hits me...NOTHING is missing. I've decided it's side effects from being away from the disboards for too long.

Could I be a bigger dork? Maybe...but I am FREAKING out because I've been away for a couple of days! agh!!! :scared1:
I've seen some amazing outfits and you guys seriously amaze me! Love all the fun springy stuff and...

ELISA!!! Congrats! What an accomplishment! And to do it with kids just amazes me! You rock!

Alright...just so you know, I haven't been slacking. Just spring cleaning...sewing about a gajillion dresses (I made 5 in three hours last night...yay me!)..and discovering a new hat...the beret on YCMT...LOVE IT!

BIG KISS!!!!

You all have made some amazing outfits today! I had a long day of cheer camp at Build a bear today!!! it was on the other side of town and then everyone wanted to shop afterwards. All those little kids!!!!!!

p.s. I'll be back after I edit the egg hunt pics from this morning! And don't freak out anyone they are in store bought clothes!

When I took my CFP exam, we had to wait 6-8 weeks for results. Fortunately, we took a Disney trip during that time to get my mind off it. But it was still very stressful!

CastleCreations - Congrats! I know what a huge relief that is. When I got my CFP results, I sat in a chair and cried and was in disbelief that I actually passed. I kept checking the resutlts over and over again just to be sure.

Oh.. my DH is sitting for the CFP this summer. Hope he has better luck than when he sat for his securities exam... first time he took the exam he failed, 3 months later he took the exam again and passed. Then a week later he gets a letter from the NASD - the first exam was mis-scored and he had actually passed!! The letter said that had only happened a couple of times in the previous 10 years... lots of good that did him - he almost lost his job for "failing" the exam the first time.

And that is a pitiful selection of Disney prints. The Cars stuff is a Wally's for half the price. But I love you for taking pictures at Joanns! That's funny!
I bet if you talked to the manager or whomever orders, they'd order more non-fleece Disney fabric.

My JoAnns has been so unhelpful lately. I asked about ordering flannel in turquoise... the woman cut me off and told me that if I didn't have the EXACT UPC they couldn't do anything. Boy how things have changed - when I worked there 15 years ago (well, it was Cloth World then) we had a big book of fabrics; you looked up the type of fabric, then the color and ordered from there.

Ok this is the dress and hat that I made using the new YCMT patterns.

LOVE! your beret turned out WAY cuter than mine! I've decided I'm going to make the brim (is that what you'd call it?) wider....and I didn't have time to do the bow or the flower, but still! GREAT JOB!!!!
Love the bandanas, btw! I've bought bandanas to actually do that, but....:rolleyes1
CUTEST!!!!

HI ladies!! Its been a few days. I have been pulling 16 to 17 hours shifts. Days are long and turn into nights and still taking care of dh and dd. Thankfully my mother in law had been there to help out this week or I dont know what I would have done!

I have like a billion pages to catch up on here now. But I know that means FABULOUS creations from you all. I have not had time to sew yet but I hope to tomorrow. I got some fabric to make something for Georgia for St. Patty's day. Yeah I know cuttin real close. haha

SOOO earlier this week, Georgia got some mail and boy was she SUPER excited! The newest loved DISperson in our house is Tinka-Belle!! She was ever so sweet to send this to Georgia knowing how much she would have loved it!!

3-15-08001.jpg

Isn't it just so stinkin cute?!?!

Now, today at Joanns I got this load of fabric.
3-15-08050.jpg

there is some purple and white star fabric that was on clearance. So cute perfect for that "everyday" wear. the jelly bean and pink fabric is what Georgia picked out for Easter. The greens are for St. Patty's day. and still able to wear during spring and summer. Some Princess fabric the blue knit goes with that for a dress I plan on making. I got some cup cake flannel for my friend who just had a baby. They live near OR so its always a bit chilly out by the coast. nice flannel baby outfits! hehe

Georgia had her very first Girl Scout Event. It was called Camp Butterfly for Daisy Girl Scouts. She had such a blast. it was two hours, just perfect time for these girls.
3-15-08027.jpg

oh and just because she looks so darn cute in her Crown shirt. Here is our four legged Princess.

Thank You Kell and Georgia!!
Luke loves his Madagascar (or as he used to call it (oscar oscar) p.j.s In fact they turned out so cute I'll let him wear them for "everyday clothes" if he wants (like right now because he won't take them off).

Yikes! Looks like someone's hair needs a trim. Why does it take a photo for me to realize this? :confused3 Poor boy can hardly see :rotfl:

I did the 5 minute "frayed" applique :thumbsup2 I tried to get the fraying started with my fingernail. I like it!
