Disboutiquers part 3 (Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes)

Here are Lily and Saylor (the first time she ever DIDN'T smile, I think the poor babe is teething) in the outfits Sugarbees made them. Lily was THRILLED! She had to put it on immediately (hence the pile of her discarded clothing in the background) and kept saying "we twins". Too bad she is sitting in the photo and you can't see the cute pants she has on underneath.

IMG_1098.jpg

Even sadder it is snowing today so I don't know when she'll ever wear all the summery stuff I keep making!

How cute :)

It's been a month since I went to our "local" Joann's. Last time I was there I was frustrated over the amount of flannel and lack of Disney fabric. I decided to go back and see what they stocked up on now that its spring.

Drum roll please..:rockband: I actually brought my camera and took a picture of all of it...

IMGP5104.jpg

Yes, folks, that's right. There were two bolts of Car fabric with checkboard coordinating fabrics. One flannel Ariel and that was it. :confused3 And thats all they've had for the past 4 months I have been checking on them. Pretty pathetic huh. Luckily, the Disboutiquer Sohappy is going to hook me up with some fabric she managed to find! Thanks!

Here's a pic outside today I also took....Happy Spring Everyone!!! :flower3: :sunny: :flower3:

IMGP5103.jpg

Sorry, my Joann's can be like that too, we used to have different Joanns around town but now we only have one :(

Okay, here come a lot of pictures because Lily was in the mood to model! This is what I made with my Easter dress scraps. This is the newsboy hat (it was fun to make something different), Carla's simply sweet dresses and tops:love: , and Carla's easy fit pants from YCMT. Next time I will make the elastic pieces longer because the size 3 is a little snug on my 2yo. That being said, LOVE the pattern! It was very easy and I will definitely use it as a "staple" pattern.
Here is my artsy fartsy playing with photobucket's limited editing abilities photo:

Here is my editing out the runny nose dripping down the face photo (it would've turned out better if I'd used photshop, but then Id've had to change computers):

IMG_1108-1.jpg

I love this one!

IMG_1103-1.jpg

Too cute, I can't decide about the hat pattern, I want it but I hate the idea of paying that much for it.

I want to cry. I don't know why the needle isn't catching the bobbin thread. I've threaded and rethreaded. I know it's correct know. I'm so frustrated, tears are coming out :sad1: I just want to sew!

Yay!!! I did it!! It only took 2 hours!!! :lmao: It must have been the timing. Because I gave myself a breather, sat down and did it slow and it worked. Threading down...figuring out how to sew together what I cut....to go....

I'm glad you got it figured out :) Happy sewing!

So behind, but I'm not going to let that stop me from showing off.

This is for Snubie who asked if it was dorky to make matching outfits.

This is Simplicity 3513 and Michael Miller fabric I just fell in love with.

IMG_0129.jpg

It has pockets, which were ridiculously easy!

IMG_0127.jpg

For Teresa:

IMG_0125.jpg

And a matching top for me, Simplicity 4589 (look UMama, I didn't even make my bed yet!):

IMG_0134.jpg

Up next, my first recon...

Yay! I figured out how to upload my pics from camera onto photobucket! Since my computer is dumb and won't let me upload on there. So I can you show you what I'm working on! I finished cutting out my pattern last night and have my machine threaded, finally. So I think I'll try to start sewing once Violette lays down for her nap. I can't get that kind of stuff done when she's awake because she wants to touch everything.

I'm making this blue dress:
dresspattern1.jpg

Here are my supplies:
DSC00776-1.jpg

And here is the fabric I am using:
DSC00778-1.jpg

I hope I don't mess it up!

So I took a sweater that was too short and a t-shirt pattern:

IMG_0120.jpg

I laid the pattern on top of the sweater and trimmed the sides. I left it long because Megan is cursed, er I mean blessed with a long-waist like me and extra length is always appreciated.

IMG_0122.jpg

I sewed the sides back together. I took the sleeves and wrapped the pattern around and trimmed.

IMG_0123.jpg

And sewed them back on. Voila! A little girl sweater!

IMG_0132.jpg

I have lots of sweaters that are too short for me but since winter is over I think maybe I should wait. I was thinking of trying to make short sleeved sweaters out of them. That might be more practical for around here. I asked a friend last night if it looked hand-made (my fear with recons) but she assured me it looks like I bought it from Gap (yay!).

That's cool! Riley has a few sweaters from Gap that look exactly like that!

She does look a lot more grown up in it though. :sad1: Maybe you need to add a ruffle!

That's so cool. I have thought about doing that for DD but with regular shirts. I never thought to do it with a sweater. It does look store bought.

Yes, that's the 18 inch doll pattern. What is your great idea????

I have tons of doll patterns & tons of Build a Bear animals & 2 girls who want new clothes for their animals. I even have a Disney princess doll pattern. If I can get all the stuff done for birthday parties in the next month or two, my girls my be getting some new outfits for the animals finally. Well, part of the birthday sewing is matching outfits for the animals, but I'm making those patterns up as I go along.

I may need to unsubscribe to the YCMT emails. I just bought two more patterns from them. They were so cute though. I think that I am going to go make them now.

Too cute, I can't decide about the hat pattern, I want it but I hate the idea of paying that much for it.

I know, I about choked when I hit the buy now button. It's not like one of Carla's patterns where you actually feel like you are getting a lot for your money!

Okay off to see Princess Wishes! princess: :cheer2: princess:  princess: :cool1: princess:

Jham - I LOVE the new set and the hat. DD saw it and wants the dress and hat too (with a pink flower of course!!) I'm thinking about buying it too (and CarlaC's other ew one!) How easy was it to do? What size did you use? thanks in advance!

Hi Everyone.
I just wanted to post it again incase someone missed it.
We have a new group on our favorite auction website.
so far we have 7 members, and it would be great to have more.
If anyone is interested PM me. We are having our first launch on May 1st, and are voting now on the ideas...Thanks, Lisa

It's not snowing here yet. You keep it all! It's super cold and there may be little poofy white snow doilies wafting down, but not much. I AM DONE WITH WINTER!

Look how cute the "twins" are! :cutie: :cutie: That's cute SugarBooger!

Grrrr! I'm "sew" jealous!

And that is a pitiful selection of Disney prints. The Cars stuff is a Wally's for half the price. But I love you for taking pictures at Joanns! That's funny!
I bet if you talked to the manager or whomever orders, they'd order more non-fleece Disney fabric.

That is really cute (the dress, not the dog. Wait, I love your dog too.Cute pup)!!!! I need to do more tops for ME! I need to take advantage of the fact my dd still admires me since in a few years, I'll suddenly be dumb and uncool :guilty:
Whuuuut? I never notice little details such as that :rolleyes1

Hi Everybody..
Quick update on me...LOL
I went and took my NCLEX. I don't know what it stands for...only that it was the hardest thing I ever had to do. By question 14 I was ready to give up. I actually had the lady come over and assure me that I was taking the right test. I managed not to cry until I got to the elevator. I cried the whole way home. It was an absolute nightmare. I called friends who had recently taken it and they said it wasn't bad...I graduated top in my class, how could it have been easy for them...stinkers..anyway, after 2 days of worrying, I found out today that I PASSED!
I'm so happy. I actually cried, again, when I saw the screen and saw the word pass. I had to look at it twice before I really saw it.
Thanks for the kind words everyone! It's a huge relief to get that over with... Now let the sewing weekend, begin!!!
Congrats on passing your boards!
Susan

Up next, my first recon...
Thank you for posting this. I bought a pattern for a sun dress for me (the wedding is outdoor sin July) and some cheaper Wally world fabric. I will try to make the dress with the cheap fabric before I attempt it with nicer fabric. I am a bit scared - the dress involves a zipper!

I like that fabric. Good Luck, go slow and you will be fine.

I may need to unsubscribe to the YCMT emails. I just bought two more patterns from them. They were so cute though. I think that I am going to go make them now.

Question for those who have bought CarlaC's simply sweet top pattern - How does it differ from the strip work jumper? Do I really need both patterns?

I love that brown fabric! I am sure you will do great with it.

That's cool! Riley has a few sweaters from Gap that look exactly like that!

She does look a lot more grown up in it though. :sad1: Maybe you need to add a ruffle!

She does look grown up, doesn't she? Maybe she needs a big honkin' daisy on it!

That's so cool. I have thought about doing that for DD but with regular shirts. I never thought to do it with a sweater. It does look store bought.

Thank you! I saw them on craftster with shirts so I thought it might work with a sweater. Before I throw anything out now I am going to try!

It looks very GAPish to me! Great job!

Thank you!

I almost stopped what I was doing do I could make up the bed first because I know you (and Teresa too) notice things like that, but I was in too much of a hurry! I like how the top came out, but there are a few mistakes so I do need to practice more. It really takes more precision than a jumper or peasant blouse (shoot!).

Good luck with your sundress! I have only done a couple of zippers and they have turned out ok, so I think you'll be fine.

To all of those who asked I purchased the Elleaelle Perfect Portrait Dress and the Belle Elysse Beret Hat. I have now completed both peices, but I have to go to the AT&T store with DH. So I will post pics when I come back.
