Hi All!

I am terribly behind on this thread, I mean, when did we get to part 3 ;)

Seriously though, I spent last Friday at a Sewing Expo! Are you Jealous? It was a blast. It was my first year to go and definitely not my last. $4 seminars on almost every thing you can think of and some free ones as well. I stuck to those and didn't dive into the more spendy hands-on classes, although I am sure I would learn a bunch if I did.
But the real fun was the vendors! Oh, the fabric (not much Disney :sad1: ) I didn't buy as much as my hubby was afraid I would. And I realized when I got home I forgot to get a few things....like a pattern for this foot stool they called a "Tuffet", so cute.

Ok, now on to todays find.... and forgive me if this is a common knowledge thing for you guys. I saw this today in a catalog and was amazed I hadn't thought of it before..... the Crayon Apron!

Ok, I just had to share my recent experiences with you all. You continue to inspire me. But first things first....I need to go get organized - who needs a guest room right?

Cool! I went to a sewing expo a few weeks ago and had a blast. I took two hands on classes (to learn about my serger) and they were both excellent. Very neat crayon apron!

I don't know who else bought Carla's new pattern today, but the temptation was too great to resist.;)

Here is my adaptation of her new pattern. This is the halter version. I tried to "artsify" my photos a bit. Albeit my redneck version!:rotfl:

Beautiful pictures! Reviews please. Was it as easy as her others? I am trying to decide if I should get it or not. I have so many store bought patterns that look pretty similar, but I like the idea of printing out whatever size I need. Yes, I do probably need to get it, right?

This was a set I made a while ago, and finally added the Mickey head today. Sadly you can't really see it in the pictures. I spent the afternoon, running errands and watching Ireland at gymnastics...
Hopefull tomorrow I will get some sewing done...

This is so pretty :) I love the colors :)

I need to work on my focusing, and my lighting!
Leighanna had just got out of the bathtub, and it was past her bedtime, so I just shot these quickly.

The dress is gorgeous :) The photo borders are really nice, they make me think of princesses princess:

I love the colors and the different prints that you used. This turned out so cute. I was very tempted to buy this pattern also, but I realized that I already had it in paper form. I did like the idea of using it for a nautical theme. I have a Donald Duck dress that I want to make for DD and I think that I will be using this pattern for it.

Tom-Where did you find all of those pretty fabrics??

I've enjoyed reading eveyone's name stories. Our DD is Megan Ashley and DS is Wyatt George. For Megan, I picked Megan and DH picked Ashley. DH gave in and let me have Megan as the first name since he really wanted Wyatt for a boy (we kept the same boys name after DD was born) and I wasn't in love with it. George is after DH. He is George Henry III. I think MIL really wanted DS to be George IV, but DH was adamant that he didn't want his son to have the same name. He grew up in a very small town with his father being George Jr and it caused all kinds of confusion and the school, bank, etc... He said our kids needed their own names. My favorite boys names are Gavin and Evan. Dh didn't like either of those. I gave in on Wyatt since I really thought both of our babies were going to be girls. I had a really hard time picking a girl's name for DS. I loved Kayla or Kaylee but we have a niece named Karla so I thought it was too similar. I came up with Kaycee Layne and although DH wasn't crazy about it he once again gave in so that he could have Wyatt for a boy. I am glad that he stuck to his guns because Wyatt suits DS perfectly.
Wow, what a long ramble for 2 kid's names. :rotfl2: Sorry!!!

She needs to give Lydia lessons, she has been trying, but hasn't mastered it yet. Of course, she has been practicing in our living room, since the snow just WONT go away!!! GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

We've been practicing jump roping here too. The kids both did Jump Rope for Heart at school so that sparked Wyatt's interest. He still doesn't quite have the hang of it though. We're blessed with all this lovely snow too, so we've been jumping down in the basement. It's a workout!

You really are a great photographer. Corey is very talented with the camera. He doesn't take a lot of people pictures, but he has some nature pictures that are really cool Hmm, let me see if I can find one of my favorites....

That's an awesome shot! Nice work Corey!!

I have a bunch of sweaters that are too short (if they shrink just a bit they are worthless because I am long-waisted) and I was thinking of trying a recon so Megan could get some use out of them. I really like to have a pattern so I am nervous about just cutting something up. If anyone has any ideas, I would love to hear them!

I dont have any suggestions, but I think you should try it, sound like a very neat idea.

Ok, that is just about enough out of you TOM!! You get the pattern whip it up in a day, THEN you take some fabulous photos too!
STOP RAISING THE BARRE!! I can't even dream of keeping up! :rotfl:

Yeah but just think of all the money you would save...you wouldn't have to purchase the Photopass CD!!! His pictures will be much better!! LOL

(Note to Corey...totally trying to help you get that camera, my friend)! :goodvibes
I am NOT going to let Corey see this! :rotfl:
I started getting really excited when it went under 30. Until I realized how much I have left to do before I go:eek: :scared1:

I can totally relate to this!!! We are at what, 57 days out now? It's about the time I go into panic mode!

Okay, quit showing off!:rotfl: This looks FANTASTIC! As does your artsy pics! I, too, could not resist and bought this pattern yesterday! I really like all of the variations for one pattern! However, unlike you, I can't whip things up, so I haven't made anything with it, yet! But, I do have lots of ideas in my head!:rotfl2:

Okay, somehow I missed some stuff so here goes trying to remember things I saw:

PrincessKell- LOVE your pics! Very cool!

Castle_ That outfit is adorable! I love all of those colors!

Spongie-hope you are having a better day today!

And I forget who posted a pic of the crayon apron, but that is adorable!

Gorgeous Tom--the girl, the outfit and the photos! I LOVE the fabrics!

Here is what I have been working on for the last few weeks. It's DD's Easter dress. She picked out almost all the fabrics and chose a design to CASE from :wizard: She loves it and I'm pretty happy with the results too. Thank goodness for my ruffler or I may have thrown in the towel on that skirt.

Her giving me a cheesy smile

Hey everyone, Sorry I wasn't around yesterday, but I threw my back out lifting a laundry basket. I am trying to prove to Dh that this means that I shouldn't do laundry anymore, and should hire someone. :rotfl: (he's not allowed after he screwed up five loads of laundry).

Thank you for the comments on the yellow dress. :) The fabric is actually just a roll I got from a wholesaler....ironically enough, I think it WAS meant to be home dec fabric, even though it's really light weight. It's only 4" wide, which is why the ruffles were so tight. Brianna insisted on SLEEPING int eh dress that night, and now that it is "dirty", insists she needs a NEW ONE for easter. :sad2:

I'm also half-way through a belle dress that has a skirt CASED from Tom. I should get back to it tomorrow.

I love the name stories!!

Amazing as usual. Colby liked it too, umm or maybe it was just Leighanna that he thought was pretty

So I've given in -- DD8 wants to buy a new Belle dress and she wants the red grand ball one. Hello $85! I think not. So I'm off to Joanne's to price fabric. The red velor and white brocade are going to cost a fortune, but thank goodness for coupons! I think I'll treat the bottom like a sundress - because I have a pattern - and the top like a peasant top - again pattern.

Last time we went I made the yellow Belle dress with no pattern and used white construction paper to make my own pattern.

So wish me luck! Oh, did I mention this will be a surprise, so I can only work on it when both girls are at school.

Looking for some ideas for Ariel..I did the scale skirt last time, so I'm looking for something else. Any ideas?

I'm baaaack...
Okay, my amazing MIL brought me 11 yards of this toile in pink and 7 yards in blue...HELLO! Just to be nice...LOVE her!...so, I made Saylor and my DN, Kennedy, matching spring outfits....

I love all of them, but this one....:lovestruc I LOVE toile! This is soooo cute!

WOW!!!!! That's the kind of fabric I LOVE. The halter version is precious!

Those photos are great! NOT redneck versions. I'll show you redneck!

What program are you using? Adobe?

I am sooo buying the new Carla pattern as soon as I get paid. I can't wait.

Was it easy? I need easy-ish. Yet love a challenge.

THIS has been a morning at our house!
My kids are not allowed to eat in our front room...or in any room other than the kitchen for that matter.
Yet they don't think I'll spy the POP tart crumbs, some of which have strawberry cling-ons, all over the couch and carpet!!!!
They blame each other, yet clearly have POP tart remnants all over their mouths :confused3
WHO buys POP tarts for their kids? Why not just feed them cake and cookies with a side of Flintstone's vitamins?
I didn't buy them, I tell you what. The other parent, who lives in our house who gives them Doritos and Mtn. Dew when I'm away for dinner, DID! :headache:

Couldn't find homework, didn't brush their teeth good enough (I check), whining all around.

But! Their gone now, and I am about to take Norah to "Overpriced Preschool" so I can sit and sew in peace. :cloud9:

Thanks for the comments everyone!

Yes, that is the new Ginger Blossom fabric from Michael Miller.
Lisa Zoe has turned me into a fabric snob.:snooty:

Although I have a pattern that is similar to the one that Carla C has, she gives some really useful tips that I hadn't thought of before. To me the tips and being able to print any size that I need, is worth the price.
Plus, there are so many different variations. Love all the photos too.
Yes, it was very easy.

I think the next time I make this I will make the elastic for the back longer though. My princess, has ummm, shall we say, a little belly, and the tight elastic sort of emphasizes it.

I agree, thank goodness for the ruffler!

I have a little of that egg fabric too. It's cute!
Finishing touches on several items to be posted later.

Here is the first of many outfits to come. We are going to Disney in April, and after seeing all of your beautiful clothes, I wanted my daughter to have something special to wear everyday, so I am sewing like a crazy person. This is the only one I have taken pictures of so far, but I'll post others next week sometime. Edie thinks she looks so pretty in it...
