I made Tessa a Mary Poppins outfit today. I think I can officialy say I "whipped it up". It took me 3.5 hours from start to finish (that includes cutting it out and making some of the pattern up). That's very fast for me! I'll post pictures tomorrow!

HELP!!!

th_girlsweekend.jpg
I don't have any good suggestions for you. But, I just wanted to say that you guys are just too stinkin' cute! I LOVE the idea of getting together and being silly!

This is so funny because Georgia ALWAYS asks the same thing "oh she is beautiful in that beautiful dress, whats her name" If I am lucky I will know who it is. haha then she will do the same Ooh that is lovely. haha She is on a kick with the word lovely. Kind of like me and Rad! Yep we are dorks in this house.
Lovely- how cute!! Tessa's favorite word is gorgeous.

Oh my goodness gracious!! She is just the cutest little thing!! I just want to kiss her little cheeks!! The dress is adorable!!

I would love opinions though! I got this yesterday for my foster boy room. I bought a set and this is the top sheet. I have a blue top sheet that would match it and I really like the mickey sheet. I am seriously considering keeping it to use as fabric. What do you think is the print to big?
th_001.jpg
Have you SEEN the huge princess faces we put on outfits around here? :rotfl: On that note, no that print is not too big! :lmao:

Hey, I just noticed that I haven't seen T-beri on here for a while? Where did she disappear to? Anyone know?
I've been missing her, too! I know she was really busy with her new job, but I was hoping she'd stop in every once in a while!

I have been lurking here off and on for the last month or so and have to say thanks for all the inspiration. Prior to visiting this thread, I made costumes for my girls to wear to the princess tea on our last trip to WDW. But thanks to many ideas I have gotten here, I plan to have several outfits made for each of them by our next trip.

Here are the costumes I made last year... (I knew better than to show my face without a photo attached :) ) I did not make my son's pirate costume - I had run out of steam by that point.

:welcome:!!! Wow, you really jumped in and made a great first impression!! I had to look at that picture a 2nd and a 3rd time, then read your post over again. I couldn't believe you made those yourself! You did an absolutely amazing job!!! Those fabrics are so hard to work with and they look perfect!

These turned out really nice! Great job! Tessa wants your kitty.

Shirring help how do I do this? Is there a tutorial? thanks in advance
There is a shirring section in the bookmarks.

Wow Utahmama! You are even cooler than I thought:cool1: Didn't you know that only the cool mama's Cloth diaper. No offense to you other mama's (I am JK!)
:snooty: :rotfl:
I am in the breastfeeding club, at least! I breastfed both my kids until they were 17 months old.

Look at the super cute tink print!! I just love it!
She looks SOOOO cute!!!! I love this diaper cover! It makes me wish I used cloth!

You all are SO talented!!! A poster in a BBB thread said that she had her DD's Aurora dress made by a DISboutiquer... while my trip is still 11 months away, I'd love to know what my custom dress options are!

Thanks in advance!
Hey, I sent you a PM pointing you in the direction of this thread. But, I see you've already found us!

I fake-serged a hem with my Brother 7700 using an overcast stitch (#6). Using the length set at about 1.4, and the width at 5 and the G foot. It's how I finish all my seems since I don't have a serger (yet). It works well. I do use a LOT of thread though.
That's a great idea! I'm going to have to try that. Thanks for the tip!

Oooh, thanks! As a Bare Min (just couldn't bring myself to use BM as an abbreviation  ) newbie that was very helpful!
I always wear my BM on VD!! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

What a cute idea!

These are so great!! For those of us that can't paint . . . I used to make these pillows .... you use parchment paper and iron it to a peice of fabric, then use a coloring book page and hold it up to a window and draw the picture onto the fabric. Then you color it in with crayons and heat press it. It's been years since I've done it, but that would work for those of us without the wonderful painting talent.
I'm not following you. This sounds like a cool idea! Could you give us a more detailed description of what you do?

You do realize, don't you, that the above (all or part) is going to be hard for the tag fairy to resist? :rotfl2:
:rotfl2:

th_IMG_3881p.jpg

I think I will start with some simple applique..like a square or rectangle shape!
How pretty! I love it!! I would definitely suggest starting with a square or something with straight lines for your first applique!

Bare Minerals question. I never wear foundation- just blush, light eye shadow, and mascara. All the foundation I've tried makes me get pimples. I am prone to pimples, but also have dry skin- Ugh! Anyway, is this stuff good for acne prone 33 year olds?

I came across this dress, and wanted to show you guys. Not so much the dress, but the dress has a loop sewn to it at the waist and the book is attatched to it with a hook. I thought this might be a great idea at Disney with all the different zipper pools or key chains. I have a bunch of small stuffed animals with the hook on it that I think will work.

What a Clever Idea! We need this very much...not only for Disney but for EVERYDAY life!!

Thanks for the input guys. I am going to go ahead and put it up. The blue sheets I have match the underside of the comforter fine so I can live with that. :)

On a side note I just found out I am REALLY not going to be around much anymore. I am getting a 10 day old baby most likely on Friday she is under 4 lbs so a lot of my time. :) I am so excited though. There is a chance she will stay with us forever. Please say prayers. I get to go find preemie clothes tomorrow! :)

UGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ok I am sooooo flustered!! Seriously. So I got the dang pants sewn, HOWEVER...they did not come out correctly! What did I do wrong?? I *thought* I understood the pattern I was reading. I guess not. I wasted fabric I LOVE on these pants. I totally thought I understood it, and was going to do it right, that is the *only* reason I used that fabric. If I thought there was a chance I was not going to master it I wouldnt have used it! I have had that fabric for THREE years wanting to make some capris for Georgia for summer!

These were going to be for our Lilo Breakfast, with lace on the bottoms! I had just enough fabric to make a mickey head for a shirt!

Please someone tell me what did I do wrong. Is it backwards upside down, what?

Uh, it looks like you sewed the crotch together as legs and the legs together as the crotch. Remember, the J-shaped pieces are the crotch.

Wellllll... I guess you are a cool crunchy mom! I bf'd all my babes way longer than I anticipated. lol..
I have to tell you Cloth diapering is way more fun than using disposables! I mean just look at what you can put on their bums! :lmao:

What she said--totally fixable. Just unpick the waistband, crotch and inseam and re-do. Lots of unpicking, but you can save the pants. Most of us have done that at some point. Your hem will be where your waistband is and your waistband will end up where your hems are.

Sooo cute! Looks like you don't need any more baby girl hand-me-downs! (not that you did before, but that Saylor has a new outfit for every day of the summer!)

Bite your tongue! And I've already made claim to several of Lily's outfits, so...there's no getting out now! :rotfl:

That is a really cute sheet...I don't think the print would be too big.

Those look great...I love the Ariel's costume. I bought fabric for the Sleeping Beauty costume, but I am still afraid to start the project.

I finally finished Kenzie's AK outfit

Wow..57 minutes! I don't think I have made anything in 57 minutes...your dd is such a cutie and the princess outfit looks great.

Misty and Jayedyn just left from their photo shoot....

Norah is wearing her new stripwork jumper (with straight pins instead of buttons since I havenet done them yet. Imagine fabric covered buttons sewn neatly and straight ;) ) Decoupage jeans from size 3T jeans that were too floody and had a hole in the knee found new life!

hmmmm Maybe. It just seemed like the legs would have been WAY short for carpis. I will have to seam rip this bad boy! UGH>..

*edit to say...Have one leg half way done. I hope they come out better. or I will just have to give up on pants!*

Everything I've seen is so cute! You all have mad applique'ing skills!

I'm new and stumbled across the disboutiquers threads and I'm so excited to find you here. I love to sew and make about 75% of my kids' clothing. Of course I've been planning in my head what to make for them when we hit WDW in April. So far I've only made some capris and a peasant top with a mouse head applique. I've got some vintage(?) mickey knit that I think I'll make DS a curved raglan tee with and then he'll get the standard camp shirt from mouse head fabric. I'll probably made DD a matching shirt from that too. Maybe I'll get some new ideas from you all too!

Enough babbling, off to go admire more stuff. :)
