To all the RedHeads, a big thanks to you. Your tips really made our trip. My only disappointment (very slight) was with our hotel. We stayed at RPR. When we went to check-in, the lady said that our room was ready. Then...she described the room. One bed with a pull out couch. My ressies were for two beds. No biggie, it just took awhile for her to find a room. (She did say that the king bed rooms are bigger, but we prefer two regular beds.) I became a Loews member when we planned this trip. However, we used a military room discount. So we would not receive the welcome gifts. I was okay with that. But, while we were in line, the children in the other families received a gift when checking in. Yeah, we thought! But when it was our turn ....nothing. I asked her and she said we were not eligible because of the military discount. Yeah, trying explaining that to a kid. "Sorry, honey, but you don't get a toy because Daddy serves our country.":sad2: We usually stay at the POP at WDW. This was our first stay at a mod. Guess I expected alittle more. The carpet in the halls, and the room doors looked very old.

We would definitely stay again because the FOTL pass was well worth it. However, we probably won't stay as long next time.

Hmmmm, wonder what parents who book with an AP rate tell their kids? "sorry, honey, but you don't get a toy because daddy is cheap?" :) All discounted rates are denied LF perks. I was not aware though that the gift at check-in was tied to qualifying rates as well. I hope you let the hotel know of your displeasure.

The King bed rooms are NOT bigger than the 2 Queen rooms. If they told you that, they lied. They may seem bigger because there is only one bed and a pull out instead of 2 beds, but they have the same sq. footage. I would have spoken to a manager. If you booked a 2 queen room, you should've received a 2 queen room. They let you down.

As far as the carpet, that is disappointing to hear because RPR just went through a major reno.

chipmunk, how did you like the parks and city walk?
was it fun for all of you?

rph has the dark wood in the halls and rooms.
maybe that is why it has the old look.

i prefer lighter wood color in rooms and halls

Oh, we did not accept that room. I refused, and showed my ressies were for 2 Queens. I wouldn't budge on that. Did the entire resort go through renos? We were in Tower 3.

We had a great time at the parks! I was surprised that it wasn't as crowded as I had thought it would be. Wonderful surprise! We only had one little snafu. We put our belongings in the lockers to ride DD. When we came out, they would not open. (there was about 5 other groups who couldn't open theirs as well) We called for an attendant, but his key wouldn't work. Called for another attendant, his wouldn't work. They called security, but they couldn't locate their key. They called the other park, and had an attendant from MIB come over. But, his key wouldn't work either. They told us they had to contact the company that made the lockers, and they would have to send someone over. Meanwhile, we have no money because its in the locker. So they provided us sodas and snacks from the stand. It was about 2 and 1/2 hours before they got the lockers open. The managers came over to all of us. They offered express passes to all of us. However, I told them that wouldn't help us because we were on site. He asked what I would like. I said "How 'bout a meal?" He took our name, and had us go to Guest Services. When we went there, we had a voucher to go to our choice of restuarant at CityWalk. We picked NBA City. (It was draft night!) We had a great time.

RPR did have dark wood, but that's not what looked old to me. The wood trim on alot of the doors were broken off. No biggie.

mummy dust for your inconvenience.

that was great you got something for your inconvenience.

a meal for your group on the "house"
i hope you took advantage of draft night.......:rolleyes1

i realize it is horrible when you can't get the locker to open.
and the long wait you incurred. it could have ruined a day in the park for some but looks like it was smoothed over by the sodas, snacks in the park and dinner later.

next time you are asked "what can we do for you to make things right"
tell them a free night in the graceland suite at hrh.........

I don't believe that the kids' gifts have anything to do with your rate. They are not part of the Loewsfirst program. It is really unfortunate that that happened. I would definitely let management know about it.

I like how they treated the locker issue, though.

damo, sometimes it is the person at the check in counter that goofs. the young kids really should get something from the hotel. they don't understand when one family gets a treat for them and another doesn't.

usually during the summer hrh gives "toys/treats" to all kids.
when i say kids, it usually is about ages 10 and under they do it for.
one year they did a promo on "bring your report card of good grades and get something special from HRH"

kind of a hit or miss thing.
2 different years my kids weren't on the receiving end for their bd at check in.
it wasn't a big deal to me as i had told them don't go expecting something.
but, if you do receive something from the hotel, think of it as a blessing. we did a stay at disney and universal those 2 years.

we still had a great time at the hotel and parks.

for those that don't make frequent trips to orlando, i can see the sadness the parents have when their children are ignored for a birthday time.
we read and see what others get, and normally everyone would like the same thing and treatment.

I agree. All the young kids should get something from the hotel -- I don't think it is part of the Loews First program but instead just a hotel policy. I do think the person at the check in counter goofed and management needs to let the check in people know.

Yeah, I wouldn't let the locker thing ruin my trip! DH took DS on rides, while I waited there at the lockers. Honestly, my feet really needed the break.;) And the free meal was WONDERFUL!!! Free usually is.

I'll be keeping my fingers crossed that you have a terrible locker issue! Hopefully our next trip will have some major inconvenience too. I would really like to try some of the other restaurants!:goodvibes

Yeah, we'll have to try that. DH and DS are big basketball fans, and it was the NBA draft night. So it was a no brainer for us.
