ok guys...I hope I am welcomed back!! I had my baby on 3/13 and now have a ton of weight to lose!!! :scared1: I definitely "ate for two" but don't have any regrets...I enjoyed all the fast food!! :rotfl: So I have about 25 pds. to lose to get back to where I was....at the time I was 8 pds. away from my goal weight so I guess I really have 33 pds to lose. DH and I want to try for another baby around Xmas but I have to get the weight back off first.

Anyway, I hope you guys aren't too mad I went MIA for 9 months!! I have already lost 2 pds in my first week back on my diet. I was surprised how easy it was to jump back on it..although I was a bit crabby a few days!! ;)

yay.....tara's back!!! aries just found us again, too. glad to have you back! you'll totally have that weight off by christmastime! easy peezy!!! :goodvibes

Yay! It's so great to have old friends, new friends...wait, I'm going into Girl Scout mode ("Make new friends, but keep the old...") Welcome, welcome!

Well...I stayed at my goal calories for today but I can't claim that many of those were completely "nutritious." I budgeted for that soda! And you know, it was Monday and it was worth it!

So proud of Lynda, Wendy, Aaron, and everybody for their weight loss! I will fall over in a faint when I hit a single digit size. Actually, I might fall over at a 10 or 12, you never know.

I have to throw this in: You know those ladies who are like, "Well, before I had babies I had a great body! I could wear those bikinis and short shorts, no problem." Unfortunately, I HAD no "before baby." I guess my body's changed, and not for the better, since I had my two kids, but I was never your skinny type. I think my lowest adult weight was 155, which is the high range of my healthy weight AND was the result of vomiting from gall bladder disease. Not my recommended way to lose weight, by the way.

I hope that now I can lose 30ish pounds but be healthy and strong to boot. Just because I never had a "before baby" body doesn't mean I can't have a WICKED "after baby" body, right? :) Just need to quiet the voices in my head that say "you've never been that thin, it's not in your genes, you love food way too much" etc.

Happy Monday!

CONGRATS TO YOU AARON That is so exciting when you shrink so much that you have to give away and get rid of old clothes isn't it?? WOW!!! I am sooooo looking forward to the day when that happens to me too!

Well everybody, I went to the Endocronolgist today. He told me he thinks I should go on insulin in the evenings just before bed so my numbers will come down in the a.m., but then, after he saw the look on my face he said..."Or we could try something else." SO- here's the plan for the next 4 months....

WEIGHT WATCHERS and that's that. He said weight watchers is the best program for people like me. He said I could do either the core program or the flex program, whichever one I wanted- and then after 4 months of trying with this program, if it didn't work, we'd do the insulin thing. He actually made me cry (and boy was I embarrassed) because he was so nice in the way that he explained what was happening with my body- and that my high blood sugar numbers in the mornings were not a result of what I was eating or doing. It is just how my body is metabolizing things because of the diabetes. I can't tell you how hard I have tried to get this under control, thinking I was inept at it and feeling completely and totally overwhelmed with the whole thing. And then he said it wasn't because of me. It was such a relief to know that I was doing everything right- my body just isn't in a place to accept what I give it.

SO now it's off to WW and walking. I need your prayers and your help peeps! The last thing I want to do is go on insulin. If this works for the next 4 months it might be enough to push my body to the point of not needing it.

So- who's doing WW and what can you tell me about it?? What's the core vs. flex program? Which do you do, why and how's it workin' for ya???

Don't be scared of insulin. It is not a punishment. Our medical system in this country (and the doctors are to blame) use it as a "last resort" treatment way too often. More and more studies are showing that the sooner you start on insulin, the more you are going to prevent the horrible long term effects of diabetes, which I am sure he went over as well (reduced blood flow to the legs and feet resulting in loss of feeling and infections, heart disease, eye problems, and the worst in my opinion - kidney failure). Insulin is the best medicine to treat diabetes - period. It is what your body is missing/not producing enough of. Other medicines try to increase the release of insulin, prevent you from absorbing sugar, and improve sensitivity to insulin (which is actually worthwile). The first two, are just taxing your already taxed system into doing more. Taking insulin for diabetes just makes sense. Just because you go on insulin doesn't mean you will be on it forever. If you are just in the beginning stages, and are still producing insulin, once you lose weight to a point that your body can support with its own production, you may be able to get off of it. Exercise helps ALOT too. It improves insulin production and sensitivity.

OK, off of my soapbox.

i went to the gym this morning and we were doing knee repeaters on a stacked bench and i rolled my ankle. :headache: at first i thought i had done something really bad and the first thing i thought was, "oh, god.....no....not now! i leave for disney in 12 days!!!!" but i think it's okay. it's gonna be sore for a few days. i also hit my shin really hard on the bench so i'm gonna have a beautiful big bruise right in the middle of the front of my lower leg. nice for pictures at disney, huh? i hope it goes away by then.

Ouch! I have so done stuff like that. What bugs me is when I find a bruise, and I can't even remember how I got it!:confused3

So I went clothes shopping this weekend (Kohl's had their usual sale prices, plus my wife had a 30% off thing from the catalog that she received in the mail). I needed to get work clothes, because my khaki pants were looking like M.C. Hammer pants (and yes, I understand that I am REALLY dating myself with that reference) - hanging way too low and doing absolutely NOTHING for my butt, and 1/2 of my polo shirts are impossible to tuck in properly because there is just way too much material to tuck nicely. So I got two pair of pants and three polo shirts. But the main reason I'm mentioning this is because the pants were all 34 waist and the shirts were larges. I went through my closet Sunday afternoon to get rid of the clothes that don't fit, and the pants were all 38's and the shirts ranged from XL to XXL! I tried a few on, and I couldn't believe how huge they were. So after having a few rough weeks on the scale, it was nice to get that validation.

Awesome! :cool1: I can't wait to have that experience!

As for me, it has been a rough afternoon. First, I have a horrible headache and I am PMSing (which has nothing to do with it, I am sure).:rolleyes1 So, I called home on my way from work, and DH and I had an argument about the fact that he gets home 2 hours before I do, but somehow it is still my job to figure out what is for supper and cook when I get home, even though my family will not eat anything I can have on my diet. :headache: Soooo, then I get home and go to the freezer to pull out something to cook for dinner, and everything is getting smushy!! First, I thought the door had not gotten closed good, but turns out our freezer quit working! Luckily we caught it fairly early so most things were still frozen. So, after I cooked dinner, I cleaned out both freezers, and combined into one. Had to get rid of a lot of stuff cause it wouldn't fit, but saved a lot too. They can't come until Thursday to fix it. By the time I finished doing that, my head was splitting, so I sat down here just to rest for a minute - as long as I am still, it doesn't hurt very bad. I guess I will clean the kitchen after the kids are in bed. I really feel like stress eating. Plus I found lots of yummy looking stuff in the freezer, but, I am holding strong for now.

Old WISHer popping in to say that you guys are doing AWESOME!!!

And I think I'm in love with all of the puppies... now I'm getting the bug to look for another bossy little hound. :rotfl:

The Beagle is the official Thread Dog, I'm thinking.

My FIL had the FATTEST beagle I've ever seen or could imagine. This dog just laid there...poor thing! It had rolls!

From my starting weight (144lb) for my April goal after losing 2 lbs. the first week (4-4-08)........I gained 1lb as of 4-11-08. that makes me...
4/5

But so far this week I have lost a pound and started really tracking my WW pts.

I took my Mom shopping on Saturday and tried on a few swimsuits....bleh...that was enough to get me back on track!

PS......I love seeing all the puppy pics.It really amkes me smile when I seeing those lucky dogs..with such loving parents.

when i got into a 10 i was so elated!!! and then when i hit an 8 it was unbelievable. but let me tell you - if you wanna feel really skinny go try on some jeans at maurice's (if you have one near you). i actually fit this ghetto booty into a size 4!!!!!!!!!!!! i don't remember when i was a size 4, if i ever was. and i'm not a size 4 now - it's just that their jeans run really big. i'm usually an 8. go figure! :confused3

Great job! Your measurements are my dream measurements. Good for you!

I still live in a place that you can leave your doors unlocked and until recently when they started clearing the land behind my house and put in a dirt road a person could stand nakie on my back porch and no one but the squirrles and bunnies would see you. Mind you know, I try to be animal ethical and dont stand nakie on my porch, I dont want PETA knocking on my door accusing me of cruelty of animals.
:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Speaking of which, I saw an old coworker today and his comment was, you are looking SKINNY, and told me I looked fantastic. So that was a nice thing. :)
Isn't that a great feeling? We are all so proud of you.

My marriage has gone from "blah" to "WOW" which has been working wonders for the diet :confused3 :rolleyes1
And using that swing is great for your abs, too!;)

Im a classic pear shape too, makes buying dresses very awkward! Its inherited from my mum!
I'm a pear shape too, and I was just thinking, if only I'd been around in the 1860s, where the dresses came in at the waist and the covered up big hineys, thighs, etc. But then, they wouldn't have appreciated my remarkable intelligence and sparkling wit.

took me awhile to find you all

hi all....
Hooray! Welcome back!

So- who's doing WW and what can you tell me about it?? What's the core vs. flex program? Which do you do, why and how's it workin' for ya???
I'm wishing you all the best. I haven't been to WW in a while, but basically, flex is a calorie/fat/fiber program with points calculated based on those things. Core is more like Atkins or South Beach, low carbs, high protein. I couldn't do core because instead of counting points, you had to stop eating when you were "satisfied." My brain, based on years of bad habits, has a very hard time determining that. I need something external (like journaling points or calories) to keep me in line.

My midwife also told me to do WW's for the weight thing. I do flex, every food has a point valve so you can eat anything you want within reason of course. You go by the number of points you can have per day. Are you going somewhere. I think that would be good for you to go to a meeting and learn about the program. You can totally do this. I lost 18 lb last spring. I personlly need to lose about 150 lb before goal weight so it's a little discouraging when everyone around has only 20-30 lb to lose but coming here and talking to my peeps helps more than the meetings because I feel I have something in common with you besides my weight issues.
Hang in there at WW. Our local meetings have several lifetime members who have lost well over 100 lbs. Some of there stories brought me to tears. You can be an inspiration!

ok guys...I hope I am welcomed back!! I had my baby on 3/13 and now have a ton of weight to lose!!!
Welcome back and congrats on your sweet little one.

I hope that now I can lose 30ish pounds but be healthy and strong to boot. Just because I never had a "before baby" body doesn't mean I can't have a WICKED "after baby" body, right?
That's the spirit!:thumbsup2

Well, I went to the doctor today because my throat is still crazy painful, and he said it's probably viral, but he did take a strep culture. The good news is, they printed out my BMI, and it's 25.34. 25 is the cutoff for overweight, so I'm pretty close to not being clinically overweight. 3.8 lbs. below last Friday's weigh-in will put me at a BMI of 25. That's not where I want to stop, but it's encouraging.

took me awhile to find you all

hi all....

I just like to apologize with my disapperance. Its been a rough 2008 so far
DH was bouncing around between jobs and me in school. I was tryin to make ends meet as much as possible and still keep Aniella's hopes of Disney a float. I was doing lots of projects for designing to earn some extra cash.

I ended up putting on 5lbs that im tryin to work off feverishly.

I would stare at my peep bracelet and think of you all but never got around to being able to come on the boards to even talk. I already posted on the recipe board that I have the books and will be mailing them with Dh next check.. I'll even post the DC # so whoever gets it next has it.

Im really sorry ladies and I hope you find it in your hearts to forgive me for the MIA and delays.

Well, welcome back!!! :goodvibes You were missed. It's good to see you back around.

Woo Hoo on new clothes for Disney! :) We have been doing that ourselves, and it is SO exciting! We are there at the same time, aren't we? Our dates are 5/16-5/24. Maybe we could meet up sometime?

(please excuse ray's skinny legs and boxer shorts! )

I was thinking, "I'm sure Ray is thrilled to be showing off those boxers." :rotfl: Jasper is overweight herself. She needs to lose about 5 lbs. She's just under 26 lbs, I think. We are working on it. She lost 1/3 of a pound at her last vet visit. But it had only been a month or two since her last visit, so that's not too bad. Josh and I saw a special the other night on Animal Planet about dogs who needed to lose weight, and there was a 60-lb beagle on it!

Well Peeps, I should have a good weigh in this week, seeing as how I came home from work early because I am  . I am eating saltines & ginger ale and hoping it stays with me. I NEVER get sick like this - I mean, it's been years! I am hoping for a quick recovery.

We are going to be there the same time. I am there from May 14th till May 22nd. I wrote my scheduel a couple of pages back..see if you are going to be around the parks on the days i have listed. I am going with 8 girls for my bachelorette party so we have pretty much every day planned. we are staying at BCV

Disneyfreak

I see you went to WDW around the same time last year? How were the crowds? We went last year from May 5th - May 12th and I thought the crowds were quite manageable..just wondering if there will be a big difference because i am going a week later this year

LMO I am going to try and join Noni's GG Illuminations Dinner so I might see you there... I will try and make the ressie tomorrow.

Hey Tara... pics? We wanna see your little one!!

Lynda, hope you feel better soon. I want to see pics of you, too... I bet you look amazing!

Danielle, thanks! :)

Beth, you will have a WICKED after body. I just know it!

I played my first game in a summer ice hockey league tonight. It is women-only, and only a 2 team league, but the games are reffed and scored. We lost, but it was SO much fun. I hadn't played since last summer, and hadn't played an actual game since '04 (last summer was organized pickup). SOOOO much fun. I am hoping to be able to play co-ed/men's league in the fall w/ Mr Kat.

Hope everyone had a great day!!

(and UM... you are kicking BUTT! :thumbsup2 )

This sounds like so much fun! I would love to do that. How did you ever find a summer ice hockey league?

This sounds like so much fun! I would love to do that. How did you ever find a summer ice hockey league?

This area (Raleigh-Durham, NC) actually has 7 ice rinks. I found a learn-to-play in '02 and decided to give it a try, even though I had never skated, never played a sport before, and I was 27. It is NOT cheap, but it is SUPER fun. I got a lot of my gear on ebay, and discount online hockey stores.

When I started out I played men's/co-ed beginner league, but I got married in '05 and hadn't played much since. There is a women's ice hockey organization here and I have been part of their mailing list for a while, but I have trouble doing their winter activities since the ice times tend to be late (after 9PM). I did a women's organized pickup (no refs, no score, no faceoffs) last summer, and this summer is scored/timed and has a ref, although only 2 teams.

I am not very good, but I don't really care. Plus, it is a GREAT workout!
