My midwife also told me to do WW's for the weight thing. I do flex, every food has a point valve so you can eat anything you want within reason of course. You go by the number of points you can have per day. Are you going somewhere. I think that would be good for you to go to a meeting and learn about the program. You can totally do this. I lost 18 lb last spring. I personlly need to lose about 150 lb before goal weight so it's a little discouraging when everyone around has only 20-30 lb to lose but coming here and talking to my peeps helps more than the meetings because I feel I have something in common with you besides my weight issues.

Don't be scared of insulin. It is not a punishment. Our medical system in this country (and the doctors are to blame) use it as a "last resort" treatment way too often. More and more studies are showing that the sooner you start on insulin, the more you are going to prevent the horrible long term effects of diabetes, which I am sure he went over as well (reduced blood flow to the legs and feet resulting in loss of feeling and infections, heart disease, eye problems, and the worst in my opinion - kidney failure). Insulin is the best medicine to treat diabetes - period. It is what your body is missing/not producing enough of. Other medicines try to increase the release of insulin, prevent you from absorbing sugar, and improve sensitivity to insulin (which is actually worthwile). The first two, are just taxing your already taxed system into doing more. Taking insulin for diabetes just makes sense. Just because you go on insulin doesn't mean you will be on it forever. If you are just in the beginning stages, and are still producing insulin, once you lose weight to a point that your body can support with its own production, you may be able to get off of it. Exercise helps ALOT too. It improves insulin production and sensitivity.

As for me, it has been a rough afternoon. First, I have a horrible headache and I am PMSing (which has nothing to do with it, I am sure).:rolleyes1 So, I called home on my way from work, and DH and I had an argument about the fact that he gets home 2 hours before I do, but somehow it is still my job to figure out what is for supper and cook when I get home, even though my family will not eat anything I can have on my diet. :headache: Soooo, then I get home and go to the freezer to pull out something to cook for dinner, and everything is getting smushy!! :mad: First, I thought the door had not gotten closed good, but turns out our freezer quit working! Luckily we caught it fairly early so most things were still frozen. So, after I cooked dinner, I cleaned out both freezers, and combined into one. Had to get rid of a lot of stuff cause it wouldn't fit, but saved a lot too. They can't come until Thursday to fix it. By the time I finished doing that, my head was splitting, so I sat down here just to rest for a minute - as long as I am still, it doesn't hurt very bad. I guess I will clean the kitchen after the kids are in bed. I really feel like stress eating. Plus I found lots of yummy looking stuff in the freezer, but, I am holding strong for now.

Sorry to hear about your freezer breaking down on ya. That is such a huge pain! And even though that happened to you today- you still found time to give me words of wisdom regarding diabetes and insulin. That's amazing to me.

Regarding the diabetes info- Please mount your soap box anytime concerning this with me. I really need these words. This was the first time I went to a Dr. that actually made me feel like what was happening with my readings really wasn't my fault. He was a really good Dr. and gave me the same feeling you did as I read what you wrote. You're right- taking insulin is not a punishment- but up until now, everything I've ever heard or read about it indicated it was.

My numbers are pretty good during the day- it just the first readings in the morning before I eat that are pretty high..... and that's not because I ate during the night!

Anyway...... I really appreciate everyone's words of encouragement. It helps to know that people a rootin' for ya! THANKS!

hi all....

I just like to apologize with my disapperance. Its been a rough 2008 so far
DH was bouncing around between jobs and me in school. I was tryin to make ends meet as much as possible and still keep Aniella's hopes of Disney a float. I was doing lots of projects for designing to earn some extra cash.

I ended up putting on 5lbs that im tryin to work off feverishly.

I would stare at my peep bracelet and think of you all but never got around to being able to come on the boards to even talk. I already posted on the recipe board that I have the books and will be mailing them with Dh next check.. I'll even post the DC # so whoever gets it next has it.

Im really sorry ladies and I hope you find it in your hearts to forgive me for the MIA and delays.

ok guys...I hope I am welcomed back!! I had my baby on 3/13 and now have a ton of weight to lose!!! :scared1: I definitely "ate for two" but don't have any regrets...I enjoyed all the fast food!! :rotfl: So I have about 25 pds. to lose to get back to where I was....at the time I was 8 pds. away from my goal weight so I guess I really have 33 pds to lose. DH and I want to try for another baby around Xmas but I have to get the weight back off first.

Anyway, I hope you guys aren't too mad I went MIA for 9 months!! I have already lost 2 pds in my first week back on my diet. I was surprised how easy it was to jump back on it..although I was a bit crabby a few days!! ;)

I played my first game in a summer ice hockey league tonight. It is women-only, and only a 2 team league, but the games are reffed and scored. We lost, but it was SO much fun. I hadn't played since last summer, and hadn't played an actual game since '04 (last summer was organized pickup). SOOOO much fun. I am hoping to be able to play co-ed/men's league in the fall w/ Mr Kat. Hope everyone had a great day!!

Fly by post from Hilton Head, SC! The weather isn't as warm and beautiful as we hoped, but we can see the ocean from the window! (And the golf course!) This hotel is waaaayyyy fancier than anything we were expecting! :scared1: My GF's DS booked it! We may only stay 2 nights, then move somewhere else! We'll see!

I ate a veggie chicken pattie and salad
and then grilled chicken

but i cheated with a cocktail!

Good morning all!

Well, so far today I have had 200 calories. I had a south beach wrap, it had 15 grams of fiber, that is 60% of your daily intake! Wow! They tasted good to.

I have been doing great with the exercise, but keeping a low calorie count is more of a challenge for me.

Just a quick fly-by to say hello and good-bye. We leave EARLY tomorrow morning for WDW and I probably won't have another chance to say hello.

I am posting my weight as of this morning for this coming Friday's weigh-in weight. I am - .6 as of this morning.

For those who saw my previous post about the "Biggest Loser" contest I entered at the school where I work..... I WON!! I was the biggest loser both pounds and percentages. I walked away with $70. It is in my purse right now and will buy me a nice souvenir this week in Disney.

I will try to remember to send a PM to DizneyDawn for the challenge against the Boarders, but if I forget and she is looking for me this weekend, maybe someone could point her over here to this post?? I don't have time right now.... I need to go pick up my class from gym.

Karebear~ I loosely do WW at home. I've never gone to a meeting or subscribed to any of their programs. I put together a lot of info I found online (www.dwlz.com is a treasure trove!) I lost 18 lbs last year from following the plan and I hope this year I can stay with it and actually reach goal. WW has some great food options available right now. I get bread, bagels and english muffins. They have yougurt and cheese, I'm having problem finding the smoothies so I don't know if those are still available. I like the cakes and muffins and just found cookies. The meals are pretty good too. I have a hard time trying to have dinner and a frozen dessert at the same time because it winds up being more points than I plan for my meals. The ice cream bars are yummy! DH even likes them and he hates almost everything that is artificially sweetened.

Speaking of sweets....... I ordered DD's b-day cake today. Let me tell ya, it was not the fun magical experience I expected to have with Disney. Each resort and park does their own thing and if you have your heart set on something, you may be limited where it comes from. White chocolate castle toppers are only availabe from GF, no they won't sell you one to take somewhere else and they DO NOT deliver to anything but GF property. MK only does basic cake flavors; choc and vanilla with same flavored filling, ie white/vanilla...... and the cake comes from the Contempory resort. I can bring my own topper if I want and give it to the hostess when we check in for our meal. I wanted to have cake for breakfast while we're in the castle but we wanted the strawberry and custard filling so we had to get cake with dinner. Like I said, not fun at all........ I'm still stuck on cake with breakfast so I may change it before all is said and done.......

SO now it's off to WW and walking. I need your prayers and your help peeps! The last thing I want to do is go on insulin. If this works for the next 4 months it might be enough to push my body to the point of not needing it.

So- who's doing WW and what can you tell me about it?? What's the core vs. flex program? Which do you do, why and how's it workin' for ya???

The Beagle is the official Thread Dog, I'm thinking.

My FIL had the FATTEST beagle I've ever seen or could imagine. This dog just laid there...poor thing! It had rolls!

Wow! I'm having trouble keeping up. This is my busy time at work until graduation in mid May. There are a lot of crafts that have to get made.

Oh, and I don't remember who asked, but I do WW too. I do the flex plan. I'm not disciplined enough to do the Core. I've lost a lot of weight with WW, meaning, I've lost the same 30 lbs. a couple of times. :rotfl2: I'm not always the best to follow the plan, hence why I have to lose the same weight over and over ;) , but when I do, it works great! :thumbsup2

I love those south beach wraps. I eat them a lot... love the grilled chicken caesar. My other fav breakfast lately is 1/2 cup fiber one + 1/4 cup milk... 80 cals and 14 g of fiber. It seems a bit low calorie but it really fills me up.

i had that caesar one for lunch yesterday..i loved it! and for about 5 pts...its a great lunch!
i have a lean cuisine pizza today but i also brought a small 0 pt salad that i will throw some black pepper and vinegar on..

Oh i meant to say HELLO!!! to everyone that has re-appeared over the last few days..this thread seems to be getting its old spark back:goodvibes ..not that we ever lost it, but it seems VERY positive here lately! :thumbsup2

Hope no one has to go to the post office today, it's a mad house!

I had to mail off an e-bay box of kids clothes I sold :cheer2: Sheeeesh!

I got on the scale this morning and one more pound! That makes 13 since the 6th! I'm on fire! My smallest part of my waist is 33"! (Course, I'm a pear and won't tell you the bottom measurement *yet*!)

I cut out diet soda on the 6th (but drank only enough to get rid of the withdrawl headaches). Melinda (and many of y'all) were RIGHT!

Great job on joining WW, I notice it's really popular here. Be sure and share any super cool tips you hear at the meetings!

I just got back from an hour walk....chilly here today but it's supposed to be 70 on Thursday! My best friend, who does not enjoy WDW at all, is there this week with her in-laws. I guess the weather has been cold/rainy....I'm not so jealous anymore!!! ;)
