DISappearing PEEPS Volume 2

I didn't have enough time to weigh this morning, so I am taking yesterday's number, a nice round 180.0. So that is -1.6 from last Friday.

At midnight I got the call I had been dreading for weeks. Christie now has her full miracle and she is home with the Lord. I got a early last night saying that it would be soon. I am at a good place with this--at least for now. Just continue lifting up her DH and her boys (5 and 2). Thank you for your prayers, kind words, and support--you guys ae great. :grouphug:

My mind has been wandering at work this morning while I wait for them to bring the fresh coffee to my floor. I've set up some smaller goals for myself. In 14 weeks DH and I are going to a Jimmy Buffet concert - my mini goal for that concert is to lose 12lbs (200 lbs). Then, about 17 weeks from that date is our disney trip. My goal then is to lose 15 more lbs bringing me to 185 (a number I haven't seen since college). I think those goals should be doable since they don't require me to lose more than 1lb a week. What do you guys think?

That sounds like a great plan!!

Don't get me started on the kitchen counter pile-o-crap! My wife has some sort of emotional attachment to this thing. As soon as I start going through it, she cautions me to not throw anything away until she has a chance to look at it first. Yeah, like she'll really miss that Improvements catalog from 2 months ago sitting at the bottom of this pile.

...

Speaking of which, I lost 0.6 pounds this week. That loss puts me under 170 for the first time, well since before I could drive that's for sure; and probably since I thought girls were "icky". So if I can maintain this for the next two weeks, I'll have finally succeeded at one of these goals that I subject myself (and others) to. This loss brings me to a grand total of 46.6 pounds lost since January 2007, and an uber-grand total of 70.6 pounds lost since I finally took control of my weight in early 2005. This also represents a 29.42% weight loss from my original starting weight of 240. Yowza.

Have a great day everyone, and GO TEAM PEEP!!!

I am married to an OCD neat freak. No clutter of ANY kind is allowed to remain on the counter for longer than a day. Our dining room table remains set when not in use.

You kick booty Aaron. I am so happy for you!! 70 lbs is an amazing accomplishment.

I'm a SAMER this week again. I have to say, though, that I'm okay with this. I'm starting to feel muscle definition and there's less "wiggly" in my movement now. So I'm still emotionally satisfied that I'm going in the right direction.

I was thinking more along the lines of a coreographed dance number to tell the other team they have been served!

That would work too and we could consider it cardio.

i had lunch today with a friend i haven't seen since my wedding (6 years ago) and she and her boyfriend decided to buy a special education school bus (the short ones), renovate it into a mini RV and travel around the country. and get this - it runs on vegetable oil! :rotfl2:

 Was she wearing tye-dye too?

As a long time vegetarian, we eat soy dogs all the time and love them. Yes, even the kids are veg-heads! The texture can be gross if you don't get the right brand. Go with Smart Dogs...they are the best on the market. And yeah, you gotta add ketchup and mustard at first...till you get used to the taste.

True story...one Thanksgiving I decided to cook a Tofurkey (that is a Tofu Turkey for those needing translation...). Even though we have been vegetarians for eons, I had never made one before, but after hearing TONS of vegetarians rave about them, I thought it would be worth a shot...

So, there it is Thanksgiving day...I have my whole spread...a feast fit for kings....and my tofurkey, all nice and golden brown. We say grace, we sit down, and DH slices some tofurkey for everyone. Now, my extended family members are not vegetarians, but they are definitely adventurous eaters so everyone was happy to give it a try. COMPLETE and utter silence.

It was HORRIBLE! It was BEYOND horrible. To steal Kat's phrase, it tasted like mule puke! :scared1: Fortunately, I had made tons and tons of food just in case this happened, so the holiday meal wasn't ruined. DH decides he is going to toss the remains into the woods (we live in a heavily wooded area).

Fast forward to after dinner...the family is gathered in the living room, chatting and having a nice holiday when what do we see out the sliding glass door? An entire group of wild turkeys totally chowing on the tofurkey! :rotfl: Yes, on turkey day--in order to show solidarity for their fallen feathered friends, the turkeys were eating tofurkey! We about wet ourselves at the irony.

The Smart-One dogs are the best! I just had one last night on the grill. Instead of the tofurkey, have you tried the "turkey" roll by Quorn? It is excellent! I cook up two of them and make a batch of "turkey" salad for lunches with one (with soy mayo of course).

Your story reminded me of the time when I had just gone vegetarian and was sitting at the table with my parents. My bird was hanging out on my shoulder while I ate my veggie burger and salad and my parents were enjoying chicken wings. My bird deserted me and went to my mom and shared her chicken with her. :sad2: Little cannibal..

Hi peeps. For those who remember me from way back in the original thread, I'm back. For everyone else, glad to meet you. I took quite a health hiatus and was glad to still see a peeps thread going strong. Last time I was here I had finally gotten down into the 190s but I stopped exercising and caring about what I ate and jumped back up to 220. Finally my husband said something about us really not being healthy and that we should care more about ourselves. So I'm back once again. I really loved the support from this group of people. Here's my plan: control my eating while at work (bfast, lunch and 2 snacks), real soda only once a week, lots of water, formal exercise 3x week and little bits here and there (like taking the stairs in the parking garage).

So far this week has been good except for the exercise bit. Only 1 day so far but I'll try to get working on that tonight.

Nice to meet you!! Good luck!

My DH has insisted with all that has happened to our friend that I go see a neurologist. I am waiting on them to call with my appt. We have spring break next week  I have joined the challenge and maybe that will motivate me to shed some pounds. Over the last 4 weeks I have gained 2 pounds---Next week I plan on being at the gym everyday.

I can't say I blame him for wanting you to be seen. I hope you are feeling better soon. Also, I am so sorry about Christie. Her husband and children are in my prayers.

Also, on Monday I'm starting a weight loss challenge for my staff. They have been enjoying the gym I furnished and all except one are really trying to eat healthier. So beginning on Monday, I will pay each of them $10 for every pound they lose from that date forward. I'm hoping to see some lifestyle changes rather than quick fixes for my crew here and not much motivates people more than $$$$$.

Man, my company needs to read this.

Down to business, I lost a pathetic 1.8 this week. But it doesn't count towards the Peep total. That is next week.

Have a good day !

This is 100% correct. Only diets where you lose no more than 2 lbs per week are sustainable and they are the ones that teach you to change your eating habits in a good way. Fad diets lose more weight but those are the ones where the person goes back to eating again and eats and eats and eats their way to an even higher number.

For me -0.4

Hi all,

I am -2.5lbs this week - I am soooo happy!! I have discovered something amazing - I will lose weight if I eat healthy, drink water and exercise. Who would have ever thought it! :rotfl:
Now I just need to keep it up.

:cool1: to all the peeps - Ive seen excellent numbers today - even losing 0.1lb is better than gaining, as is staying the same.

Well.... I consider this morning's weigh a failure. My lowest loss since January 2. I am so depressed. -.8 for me this week. This is not acceptable. I didn't have a big loss last week either, so I expected something more this week. Admittedly, I didn't exercise as much this week as I have been lately, so I am sure that had something to do with it. THere is no way I am going to make my 10 pound goal for March at this rate! Oh well.................................P

Awww! At least there's a "-" and not a "+"!

I am -2 this week!

Morning Peeps!

I am down -3 pounds!!! That is a huge weight loss this week especially considering I am doing weight watchers and my weight loss is usually only a pound or half a pound a week!!! (insert pat on the back here!!! ;) ) This morning I weighed in at 136 pounds!!
Maybe by time I get to Disney I will be anywhere in the 120s..Hope Hope!!

Reporting a 2.8lb loss. Wish I knew what I weighed on Friday. This is the difference from Tuesday.

Good Morning . I am lost -Onyl 1 pound-

Not that I am making excuses I only joined and started my diet Tuesday.

Since I wasn't here last week I can't officially post a loss for you guys but I weighed in this morning at 212 - down 3 from last friday.

Last night ended well - DH made pasta, sauce and mini meatballs for dinner. I had a slice of apple for snack and I got in a half hour of walking. He also managed to make some tomato and cucumber salad for me to take for lunch today. Now I just have to figure out what I can buy while at work to go with it.

Fly by post....-.5! Wish it was more, but at least it is something!!!

i'm -1 pound this week. kinda surprised since i haven't exercised at all. i've been typing like a madwoman.....does that count as exercise?

don't forget to send dizneydawn your WEIGHT if you're doing the challenge with the other thread!

I think that's awesome! Love mini goals!!!!

Down 1 pound! Woo!

Enough of that stinkin' thinkin', both of you! I am living proof that small losses can add up. I've managed to lose over 70 pounds, mostly with losses under 2 pounds. Yes, I've had the occasional 3 pound loss, but mostly it is with ones just like what you've had this week. Don't let shows like The Biggest Loser fool you into thinking you have to lose 7 pounds a week to be successful. I love that show, but the way they mope around after losing "only" 5 pounds makes me sad. To paraphrase Dr. Seuss, "a loss is a loss, no matter how small". And here's another of my favorite quotes, just for good measure...

"Never discourage anyone... who continually makes progress, no matter how slow." - Plato

Under 170!!!!!! YAY!!!! :cheer2:

Well..i am DOWN 1.6 ...yay! Now if i can lose again next week anything more than .2 i will be at my lowest weight in over 2 years!! i still have a ways to go..but hey..it would be nice!!

Well I only started yesterday but I did have a weight to give Dawn for last friday. I did not really set any schedule yet but according to last fridays I am down .2 lbs. Not much but wasn't tring tooo hard. :rolleyes1

Team Peep Yo!

I am down 4.5 lbs!

Aaron- I like your attitude! I how you keep refering back to the big picture with your totals and uber-totals.

Welcome to all the new Peeps and the long lost Peeps now returning.

Why thank you!

I think Healthy Competition agrees with us Peeps!

So when and where are the SMACKDOWN Challenge results being posted? not our real weights- just which team won-

I am having "company" for dinner and I need the sweet taste of victory to help me refuse pizza and cheesecake and the like.

Hi...missing peoples weights still...Disneyfreak92, Sparkie, DisneyObsession, TootSweet, Spongemommie05, pjlla, pigget74, Pakey, DaRuss...

I had stated that I would post by Sat night...to give people the ablility to weigh in throughout the day....
I am gone tux shopping for my oldest and will walk some laps at THE MALL OF AMERICA ...I say it loud cause that is the amount of excitement I have going there...okay...not really...but it is huge and is fun and is indoors (9 degrees here today) so I can walk forever and ever and never see the same store twice...problem..going w/ teenagers so not wearing workout clothes to humiliate them...walking in clogs as it were will not be the best...but it will be better than nothing...

hi DizneyDawn- sorry I missed the thing about Saturday night, I will stay tuned for the outcome of week one of WISH Thread SMACKDOWN: Babes vs. Peeps:thumbsup2

I love the MALL OF AMERICA too! I was born near there but now I live on the prairie. Have fun walking!

Dizney Dawn, I have pm'd you with my information. I had sent it earlier but I made a typo error and sent it to diSneydawn instead. Whoever that is, he/she is probably scratching their head trying to figure out what that number means.

I'm totally humiliated by that error. It's almost as bad as walking around with toilet paper stuck to the shoe.

WOW! You guys are posting some AMAZING numbers! Way to go! We are just starting to get some numbers on our thread.

I was only down .6 this week, but that is because I live in Plateauville. If you have never been here, I don't recommend it. It is not a fun place to visit!

I have been here for just over 4 weeks now....and I am doing everything suggested for busting through a plateau. I am getting lots of advice saying I need to eat more considering my level of activity (I run 3-4 miles 5x a week, plus I weight train 3x/ week). I am doing WW as well, and the leaders are encouraging me to eat more. Don't know if I trust that or not....

Anyway, CONGRATULATIONS on your great numbers so far!

But it ain't over till the fat lady sings....(ummm...which one of us is that again?!?!? :lmao: )

Hi gang!

As many of you know, I am on the WISH racing team. That is our "main" team, but are also broken up into 7 smaller teams of about 15 people each (give or take). I am on Walt's Warriors, for example.

Anyway, we are looking for new teammates.

There is a new thread on the WISH boards looking for people who are interesting in joining the exercise teams. It is started by windwalker (also known as Panda Dave) and is titled

MILES/HOURS TEAM Openings

and here is his post:

I need a couple of players for our miles/hours team competition over on the Events and Competition.

You are required to regularly post your exercise, walking/running/biking/swimming ect.... You can even post hours for time spent in exercise that doesn't have miles like yoga or aerobics class.

This is a good way to stay motivated to do something everyday and to meet some new WISH folks. It's fun also.

But please if you sign up plan on being regular with your posting, the team will depend on you.

Recruiting Panda

Anyone who is interested just needs to post on this thread. It is lots of fun and, of course, a very supportive group!

On my Disney 5 disc compilation is a song (disc 5 song 10) from the Disney Musical "Newsies" called Seize the Day. OH my heck, it's so great!

Although the song doesn't have anything to do with dieting, it talks about slaying the (your) giant and , well, Seizing The Day! It's very catchy and there's tons of versions on You Tube. The dance is awesome....I used to be able to do "Thriller" so maybe I can do this one? :sad2: . The first you Tube link is just the song, the second one is from the musical....it's cute! I want to buy it!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_x658BgJMc&feature=related

the all male voice harmony gives me the chills!!!!!

Here are the lyrics:

Open the gates and seize the day
Don’t be afraid and don’t delay
Nothing can break us
No one can make us
Give our rights away
Arise and seize the day!

Now is the time to seize the day
(Now is the time to seize the day)
Send out the call and join the fray
(Send out the call and join the fray)

Wrongs will be righted
if we’re united

Let us seize the day!
Friends of the friendless seize the day
(Friends of the friendless seize the day)
Raise up the torch and light the way
(Raise up the torch and light the way)
Proud and defiant
We’ll slay the giant
Let us seize the day
Neighbor to neighbor
Father to son
One for all and all for one!
Open the gates and seize the day
(Open the gates and seize the day)
Don’t be afraid and don’t delay
(don’t be afraid and don’t delay)
Nothing can break us
No one can make us
Give our rights away
Neighbor to neighbor
Father to son!
One for all and all for one!

Thank YOU! It's good huh?

I've listened to it 20 times in a row. I just love it!
