Happy Birthday! Sandy!

Put me down for -1.5 pounds

Trying to remind myself that this upcoming week I'm going to have the PMS munchies.. I figure if i remind myself from now when I'm looking to snack I will know why? Usualy I'm pmsing and knee deep in cookies & chinese food!..When I ask myself WHY AM I SO HUNGRY??? ....OH THAT'S WHY? Trying to reset my mind this week to know its coming and be prepared!

Going Wedding Dress shopping today! Most girls cant wait to get to the store and buy something right away. I have been engaged since last May and I just starting to look now (my wedding is this Sept)

Everyone have a peepalicious weekend!

GOOD MORNING! :sunny:

I got caught up all the way up to post 500 (woo-hooty, Allie!) and now I've got to get in the shower.

Just a coupla things....

Faith
....What great news!!

Disneyfav4ever.....Ditto what Danielle said about the mean people. How can people enjoy scanning the DIS for mean things to say about others? What a sad, pathetic existence.

Laura....I LOVE Fiber One too! It's way cheaper at Target than at my grocery.

Who asked about the calorie count???

Goal weight X 12 calories=Calories per day

If you stick to this formula strictly.....YOU WILL LOSE WEIGHT! It's science...no matter what kind of diet you are on (Atkins, south beach, WW, etc.) losing weight is simply a matter of eating fewer calories than you burn.

If the formula is not enough calories for you then choose an intermediate goal weight and calculate those calories. Sometimes if you are trying to lose a lot of weight (maybe 50ish pounds or more) the intermediate goal weight is the best place to start. It's hard to survive on enough calories for someone who weighs 50-100 pounds less than you. And if it becomes too hard then you won't stick to it.

If the intermediate goal weight is still not enough calories then you have two choices. 1....decide to weigh more than your goal. 2....exercise to burn the extra calories you're eating.

Just be honest with yourself. Don't try to sneak in the extra calories. ;)

I'll finish catching up tomorrow and repost the birthday list then.

EVERYBODY HAVE A GREAT FRIDAY!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDY!!!!

She's my RL friend too!

Here's a little something I made for you ;) :

i'm not weighing in yet. i "feel" like i'm gonna have potty luck this morning. so i'll be back later.

Hey - I'm a newbie. I was introduced to this thread by Faith - a very good friend of mine. She invited me to come over here. Wow - what a great group of people providing a safe and supportive environment.

My name is Tina, I'm 37, a single mom and have a DS14 who fortunately has no weight problem! I have a lot of weight to lose - but unlike most people, have NOT spent my whole life trying every diet known to man. I am starting now. I have to. I'm definitely an emotional eater - and hate hate hate exercising, but did join a gym over a year ago, so I know that when you exercise you do actually feel better. Not sure about actually joining again, but going to start out by walking.

From reading, I understand that Friday's are weigh in days? I will definitely be back to report if that's ok with all of you!! Thanks!!

:welcome: I know you will love it here!

Guess what????

:cool1:  :yay: :woohoo:

We're taking a mega spontaneous drive 9 hours to the south west of us!!!!

Our Disneyland AP's expire next week. So park entrance is FREE this time.

We're taking the Toyota not the Suburban so we'll get great mileage.

Booked a no- tell motel called the Islander Inn and Suites (two full stars, out of 5). We bought snacks and breakfast stuff at Walmart.

It's a quest to do it for as little $ as possible.

Jordan is staying. No, I will not be a grandmother in 9 months. Thanks for thinking that. LOL!!!!
He's in charge of the pets...please pray for my 2 dogs and 2 cats whilst I'm gone.

So we're going from a grey slushy cold winter day to the 70's and a little sunshine! Not to mention the new Nemo ride!

The goal is 3:00 leave time. 5 hours later we'll be at Buffalo Bills at the State Line of Nevada where mama will attempt to win some souvenir $ by playing Texas Holdem. Won't win and will be stuck with pin trading and photographs only.

Do you know how CHEAP it is at Buffalo Bills? $59 for a double queen size bed room. ((High Five!))

Crazy or What???? Sheez it's certifiable! Or brilliant?

Anyway...I'll be around to record our weights but will someone reliable back me up and take over with the totals after all have recorded? Please try to post early-ish, ok? Will that someone PM me with the totals?

Both the name and + or - and then the grand total for the day. I'd be much abliged :flower3:

Ok, I'm all set from my broccoli stir fry dinner.. Gut is already rumbling.

Have a safe and fabulous time!

Don't hate me cause I had pneumonia this week but it helped me get through my funk.

This week alone, I lost 8 pounds!

I've been eating pretty normal the last 2 days so I know this is a true weight.

I think of it was my reward for being this terribly sick all week. I think that puts me at 19 total.

That was me! Thanks for the information. It does make perfect sense to me why it would work, and since I've got "only" ~20 pounds to lose, basing it on my goal weight should work just fine. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. I never thought my problem would be that I wasn't eating enough. But this will give me some good guidelines so I don't do that any more.

The rest of you who gave me calorie counting advice (Dawn, HockeyKat come to mind), thanks! I found a free calorie tracker online (it is part of the "About" network) that I like, and I've already started to get used to that. My struggle is going to be eating enough calories, while making sure that I am also eating healthy foods. This should be interesting!

I completely expected this based on my slow progress the past few weeks and the apparent starvation that I am unwittingly putting my body through, but that doesn't make it any easier to report a 1.6 pound gain this week. But I am starting calorie counting today, so hopefully that'll kick-start my metabolism a bit and I can start losing on a consistent basis again.

Faith - I can totally relate to your chocolate story!

Welcome to the new Peep! As Faith said, I'll be starting up a new challenge shortly (it'll probably be to lose XX pounds by Easter). So be thinking about how much you want to lose by then!

Happy Birthday Sandy!!!

And have a great day everyone!

Your words of wisdom for the week...
"Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm." - Sir Winston Churchill

SAMER here.... i am sad about it..but thats what i get for getting a chicken sadwich at LONGHORN ( SHOUT OUT DAWN! :) last night AND eating the deadly salty fries..i must have about 3 lbs of water weight on me still...
ah well..better than a gain..and i stil have 6 days to lose the 2.2 to get me to my V day goal..here's hoping! AND my last Biggest Loser Weigh in is this Tuesday..i am now in 5th place due to a 4 ounce gain!! All because i had to go later in the day after jurty duty and after i ate and had some water..sigh..ah well..there is still hope that i might be able to squeak into the top 3 somehow! i will certainly keep you posted !
have a great day everyone!!!!!!!!!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDY!!!

Quick driveby, work is still crazy. No weigh-in for me this week, taking this as my 2008 start weight since it is the highest I have been since last summer. Bleah. At least now it is only 10 lbs up and not 12.

I'm down 1

Happy Birthday Sandy!!

I'm posting at breakfast because I couldn't get on yesterday. I am down 2.6 which is exactly how much I was up last week. Writing EVERYTHING down makes a huge difference, as does dancing the night away. to everyone suffering from extreme weather. And I complain when it gets below 40.
Can I just be done with coughing?

I am feeling better, but still not close to being me yet.

I think today, I'm having a set back of sorts, but nothing major.

I should have a great weigh day tomorrow.:lmao:
 and WTG on 8 lbs. the hard way!

I agree! And it would be so fun to be stuck together. Think how skinny we'd all be after being on the island for a while!
I don't know. I can eat a LOT of coconut and pineapple.:rotfl:

They're pretty good. We've got parent conferences tonight. I am pretty excited to see how my DS6 is doing. He was behind a little since kindergarten but is slowly catching up. He gets very nervous about answering in class so the teacher said last time (Nov) we have to build up his confidence. He progressed in his reading so good since the beginning of the year. I am one proud momma I tell you. My other DS8 had trouble with comprehension in reading. He only remembers and comprehends things he likes to read :confused3 How can I change that one. Anyway I'll let you guys know later how they're doing.

Laura
For building up confidence, my DS' 2nd grade teacher recommended Cub Scouts, and she was right. So I pass that on. For your other DS, encourage him to read what he likes to build up his comprehension. Books as gifts, trips to the library as a treat, etc. Compliment him and listen to him when he tells you about those books (maybe even read some of the same ones and have a "book club"). John Scieszka, a very gross, funny author, has a website called guysread.com with lots of suggestions on books for boys. Then, when your son has to read something not interesting to him, remind him that you know he can comprehend it, that he just needs to use his brain the same way he does with the books he likes. And then reward him when he does well on that reading (I spent 9 yrs. as a youth librarian and 7 as a school librarian before moving to the classroom).

I'm annoyed at DF right now. He isn't supposed to be working, but when I talked to him this morning he was doing "errands" for his work, which isn't technically working, but he keeps on going into his work even though he can't work. Does that make any sense? Then we were thinking about going out this afternoon, but he was too weak. He gets exhausted very easily these days, so he should know better, and not work. I don't care what he says, going into work and doing errands is working.

I think I'm going to buy the Betty Crocker heart cookbook, and see if I can't make him eat better, since he does mainly eat just junk. Actually, that's an understatement. Everytime I've seen him eat, with the exception of when I cook, it's been fast food, (though he doesn't like fries go figure,) and when we go to sit-down restaurants, it's ribs, bbq chicken, or steak. Once in awhile he does get plain fish, but that is rare. He's also a smoker, so that doesn't help either, though he quits once in awhile, he always starts again.
Good luck with DF. The best you can do with someone else's eating is be a good example and give him the opportunity to eat well when you are cooking. And talk to him about how you feel at the thought of losing him. (OK why do I feel so Dear Abby-ish today?)

Aaron - I count the calories, but just try to use common sense on the fat and fiber. I try to usually make the high fiber, low fat choice. I'm bad about sugar, but otherwise I think I have a pretty healthy diet. Lots of fruit and veggies, chicken and fish, almost no red meat or fried foods.

Guess what????

:cool1:  :yay: :woohoo:

We're taking a mega spontaneous drive 9 hours to the south west of us!!!!

Our Disneyland AP's expire next week. So park entrance is FREE this time.

Wooo hootie! Have a great time! Don't wreck the joint. We're heading down next Saturday. Staying at the Anaheim Plaza. A 2 room suite (w/ 2 teens, we need 2 showers to get out of the hotel before noon) for $94 a night.

Happy Birthday! Sandy!

Going Wedding Dress shopping today! Most girls cant wait to get to the store and buy something right away. I have been engaged since last May and I just starting to look now (my wedding is this Sept)

Everyone have a peepalicious weekend!
:cloud9: Good luck with the dress! Please post pictures when you decide.

well, no luck yet and i'm getting ready to leave. so i'll go ahead and post my weight. i'm + 2 pounds today. however, i did expect this since i didn't get to exercise at all this week except for yesterday (and it's too soon to see any results from that) and i was forced to eat 4 meals at longhorn. they require you to try different things during training and they give you the food for free. so eating shrimp and chicken quesadilla leftovers late at night didn't exactly help me this week! but a gain is easier to except when you know it's coming, i think! whatever......i'm just trying to keep it under 135 at this point and with the gain i'm at 131.

aaron - so what are the rules for the v-day challenge? since i already lost what i was gonna loose, does that count? as of right now i'm 1 pound over my goal, but technically last week i was 1 pound UNDER my goal. confused????

Don't hate me cause I had pneumonia this week but it helped me get through my funk.

This week alone, I lost 8 pounds!

I've been eating pretty normal the last 2 days so I know this is a true weight.

I think of it was my reward for being this terribly sick all week. I think that puts me at 19 total.

holy cow! that is absolutely your reward! i hope you're feeling better.

SAMER here.... i am sad about it..but thats what i get for getting a chicken sadwich at LONGHORN ( SHOUT OUT DAWN! :) last night AND eating the deadly salty fries..i must have about 3 lbs of water weight on me still...

 i hear ya. (see above)

LMO - good luck with wedding dress shopping! when i was shopping for mine i had it narrowed down to two. i told my parents i would pay for the dress myself if they'd help with everything else. so i was trying to be sensible about the cost. i was gonna go with the cheaper one. i loved it, but of course not as much as the more expensive one i couldn't afford. well, i was trying on the one i was gonna by for my parents and my best friend and my best friend goes, "dawn, try on the other one." (they were both at the same store) i'm like, "no.....i don't want to. i know i'm not gonna get it and it'll just depress me." she kept insisting and so finally i did. when my dad saw me in the other one, he came up to me and in a very low voice asked me how much it was. i told him and he said, "get this one. i'll help you with the difference." :goodvibes it was such a sweet moment. brings a tiny tear to my eye!!!

Well I've obviously got this maintenance thing down to a science because I'm still A SAMER.

OK, I'm determined to end this Valentine's Challenge next week with a something positive. My goal is to lose 1 lb by the time this challenge ends.

Monica, way to go on the 8 lbs. Dang, there should be some positive out of having pneumonia. Good for you.

Happy birthday Sandy.

Gotta get to work now.

Just a quick fly by - Ugh, I am A SAMER - Again! I need to get myself out of this fatty funk. What I need to do is check in with my peeps more often. I have also started writing down my foods, like I should be doing on WW. Its amazing how much I could snack on foods and think I was still within my points. Now I am accountable!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY SANDY!!!!! Hope you have a fantastic day, and get everything you hope for!

Check in later, have a great day everyone.
Oh, well done everyone on the losses - especially Mony!

:goodvibes

Thank you so much friends!! I'm truly touched by the brithday wishes and virtual gifts!!!

I've been hanging out at the event/comp thread - trying to forget I'm another year older - its getting to be such a big number!! This is the time when I hate I married a younger man!! *grin

So I'm counting my blessings instead of my age!! So thank you all for the blessings!!

(and WendythreadmamaheadintoDISNEYw/ome - I'm sure 'nuff not steppin on no scale today!! ;) Have fun!!)

WOOHOOTY's and :welcome: and throwing in some :pixiedust: for everyone!!
