DISappearing PEEPS Volume 2

Hey Peeps!

Ok, so I have been trying to kick the diet soda habit along with UtahMama and I actually have drastically cut down my soda intake since I returned from my cruise in April. Although I have had one here and there. I hate drinking water all the time (I like flavors sometimes) so I've been drinking iced tea as well. I'm now starting to think that maybe its just as bad as soda because of the caffeine and the fact that I add (a little) splenda to it? Am I right? Should I maybe just stick with crystal light-type drinks when I want flavor? Or water only? How do I deal with flavored drink cravings?

I spent the last 2 days cleaning out and organizing my bedroom. I should have taken before/after pics - the difference is that amazing! This weekend I will celebrating my birthday! Tomorrow, hanging out with my brother and his family, then laptop shopping on Sunday (graduation gift) and then my actual birthday on Monday. Isn't it nice that they have made my birthday a national holiday?

Hope everyone has a great weekend! :cutie:

Weel, I am officially +.2. Not great but considering what the scale said earlier this week I will take it.

Did I tell y'all our big plans of moving to Tennessee????
NO! Fill us in! I drive through TN at least twice a yr on my to and from OH.

WENDY - you're back. Congrats on the portraits for your house. TN huh - closer to the big guy. Why there? Just curious. I have to get rid of my diet pepsi then.

LMO - Love your photos, thanks for sending me them. Love the topiary of Grumpy.:lovestruc

Glad you liked the pictures! We had such a fantastic time!

Sorry I didn't amke it over here yesterday. Very hectic week. Good news well kinda....-5 lbs yipppee. Well after a 3lb gain the week before it really is just a loss of 2 but I'll take it!

I am contemplating a move as well I am hoping to head south! My sister and her family are in NC and DH make be making a long awaited change in occupations. He is a cement mix driver and hopefully the steamfiiters union is going to give him an opportutnity to learn a new trade. There is no teamster work up here in PA.

SO garage cleanout, yard cleanup and I hope I burn lost of calroies doing it!

Good Morning Peeps!

Melinda- I will be visiting your city today. We're going to watch the Lexington Legends game this evening. It's Lewis County's Little League Day. I love baseball and beautiful weather. :goodvibes

Did I tell y'all our big plans of moving to Tennessee????

Do tell! That would be so awesome and look how close you would be to the greatest place on earth. What part of TN are you looking at?

:welcome: DisCanCan

I posted this on my "happy chat" thread to, but I may be moving soon, by the end of summer. It would only be across town, and in with my grandmother, but it would be out of my parents house. The only problem is she only has one extra bedroom, and my sister wants to move in with her too. So we'll have to see how that works out.

Is this the same grandmother who likes to feed you? Tempting you with treats? If so, you will really have to dig deep in the willpower bag. My mother in law -aka-"grandmother" is the same way... I guess its just part of the job description for grandmothers....feed everybody that you can....She is always baking cakes and stuff- not the box kind but the homemade grandmother kind. Now she is 84 and has diabetes so she doesnt need all the
deserts and me and DH are not "malnourished" so we dont need them either but "grandmother" feeds us anyway. I hope your move works out and good luck on "grandmother" resistance.

UtahMama

Welcome to the South! We all are interested in DETAILS. I am 4 hours from Nashville, 5 hours from Memphis, and about 5 hours from Knoxville.

No, that's my mom's mom who likes to feed me, and then tells me I need to lose weight, and then won't give me a Christmas present until I lose weight. This is my dad's mom, who lives locally, and needs help. She lives on a second floor of a building, and can't leave it because of steps unless someone is their to help her, she can't walk in her apartment unless she has a walker, etc. I was there Wednesday, and she was walking without her walker, (which she does even though she's not supposed to,) and had to grab me because she started to fall. She needs help, she won't admit it, but she does. If I was there I could cook, and clean, and take her dog back, who has been living at our house for the past four years, and she really misses him.

disneyfav4ever:

Sounds like that would be good for both of you. It would give your grandmother some company and someone to look after her. I hope it works out for you.

Hi all :)

Just a fly by...

WELCOME to all the newbies, you'll love it here! :lovestruc

UtahMama - Just had a peek at my handy dandy globe to see where Utah is and where Tennessee (please excuse my spelling!) is! - are you excited about your move? :cool1:

Hope everyones having a great day :upsidedow

I have a For Sale sign in front of my house and the photographer came today for the "professional" pictures. So we've been extra stressed.

Now. I have thoroughly tested my diet Pepsi theory and yet again am a samer!

All of April I lost 20 pounds when I quit. I've been drinking a little more and stalled out. SEE?:teacher:

MUST quit all together! I'm just stressed with the house having to stay clean with kids and daycare kids. :scared:

I swear it's hideous on the diet!

Did I tell y'all our big plans of moving to Tennessee????

Wow UM, how exciting!! Where in TN? Why?

Where in NC? I am in Raleigh-Durham and would be glad to help you out with whatever NC info you need. Just let me know.

And congrats on the 5 lbs!!

We are back from WDW, and I went against my own advice and stepped on the scale this AM. Not too bad but I am going to wait until Friday in the hopes that a few lbs come off once I start "detox" tomorrow.

Hope everyone is having a great Mem Day weekend!!

We're looking at the Bartlett area of TN. The homes we were looking at online were close to the LDS church there, and of course Walmart. DH is trying to relocate his job and the cost of living is quite a bit cheaper in TN. AND it's soooo beautiful and GREEN! Other cities that have caught my eye (love quaint cities) is Germantown and Colliersville. The tough-ish part is we need a 6 bedroom or 5+den because I have 4 kids plus want/need a craft and sewing space. DH and I are planning a scouting trip of the area. That area is on our list of FOR SURE's to check out

OPEN for suggestions from you Southern Belles!!!!

I'm irrationally a-skeered of tornados though.

GOOD MORNING!

Sorry I have not checked in since Friday. Busy end of school stuff going on this weekend. Emily big public performance of Seussical was last night. Here's a fuzzy picture that of Emily (Gertrude) taking her bow at the end with Horton. I had to stand up to take it since all the tallest people at the performance felt the need to occupy the front rows.

Fidge....I LOVE NC! Mountains AND beaches. And the people are so nice and I loooove their accents. NC accents are very different from most souther accents. I hope you won't be *stuck in the snow* much longer. ;)

Fran! I missed you! Sorry! Hope you had fun at the Legends game!

Everybody else....:wave2:

Have a wonderful, blessed Sunday!

We're looking at the Bartlett area of TN.

I have a friend who lives in Bartlett, how funny that's the town you said. I would love to move further south myself but I don't think that will ever happen. I'm not liking the winter anymore.

Hey Kat and Melinda! WEll my sis lives in Gastonia and DH maybe looking in Charlotte for work. I would be over the moon to be 30 minutes from the beach. I grew up on Long Island and had no idea how much I would miss the beach. I could ride my bike and be in the ocean in 20 minutes. Plus being aware of "bathing suit" season was a huge inspriation!

Now I have mountains Walmart and Yes Melnda we had snow mixed into with rain and hail last week! EEEEEKKKK ENOUGH!

Great weather day here spent most of the day inside of home depot and lowes and the rest of the time out in the yard working.

Its been a great non foody kinda day...too tired!

I don't know too much about Charlotte, but my BIL/SIL and a good friend both live there and they like it a lot. It is about a 2 hour drive from me, and probably 3-4 hours from the beach, but closer to the mtns. We are probably a 2 hour drive from the beach here, depending on which beach.

As far as NC goes, I love it. I am originally from western PA, lived in IL for a while, moved here in '01 and would never move further north again. Unlike further south, there is a definite changing of the seasons including leaves changing color, dropping, etc. Spring comes early (around mid-March, usually), and fall is late (mid-October to early-Nov). Winter is usually very mild, and only averages maybe 2" of snow a year. Most of the time there are a few "cold" days (where high is around freezing), followed by a few where the highs are more in the 40s/50s. The summers here are hot, humid, and long, though. We start into the 90s probably around now and go until mid-to-late September.

Anyhow, back to the diet today. I gained a bit from WDW (will tally the final number at Friday's weigh-in), and am hoping to lose it all back by July 4th plus my 5 challenge lbs. Wish me luck!!

Happy Memorial Day!

I didn't post my non-weight loss on Friday. Honestly, I haven't been trying to lose with any real effort, so my weight has hovered around 178-179 for the last two or three weeks. BUT - I can always start again and I've made a real, concrete goal to lose 5 pounds by July 4th.

I have a totally unrelated problem. My DH isn't on the same page with me, Disney speaking. He likes WDW once he's there, but has a very hard time justifying the cost without having something physically to take away from it (he doesn't want to spend that much money unless it's spent ON something, like home improvement, a car, etc.).

He also thinks that our kids don't need to go every year, or every other year. He says that it's "ridiculous" to expect our kids to go more than 4 or 5 times by the time they're 18.

His family never vacationed when he was a child, as he had 7 siblings and a single mom with not much money. He doesn't really see the value of vacations.

Financially speaking, I think we can afford it. No, I know we can afford it. We don't have debt other than our house mortgage. DH does a LOT of freelance work which helps. We're contributing 15% to our retirement, etc.

SO, I need your help! It's not so much that I need encouragement, or convincing that I'm not crazy...but I don't know what to say to him. I'd like to go again this January 2009 before we try for Baby #3. Once I'm pregnant it's at LEAST 2 1/2 years before we'd go again (I don't want to go pregnant or with a non-walking child. It's just my preference, and it IS a lot of money, after all).

Does anyone else have this problem? I try to tell DH that I'm willing to cut back in other areas to save $$ for a trip, and that I'm willing to go other places on vacation, too, but I can't go to WDW just 2 or 3 more times for the next 15 years! Just can't. I'm a SAHM, so I feel like I have less control, but he says he can't spend the money he makes any old way, either.

Thanks in advance for your help, everybody!

Go eat some BBQ!
