thanks for all the car suggestions....keep 'em coming! it's giving me ideas. i love my CR-V. i had a honda civic before that and, believe it or not, the gas mileage on my CR-V is not much different. plus it's the newer body style which i love. it's a 2002 and it already has 109,000 miles on it....but i drive a lot for work!
DH is being stubborn about his car. he wants to keep driving it, but he comes home from work every day completely soaking wet with sweat because the air conditioning's out and he refuses to fix it. it's a convertible, but that doesn't make much of a difference in the middle of july. i love his car and wish we could keep it (it's nice to have in the spring/fall for top-down weekend drives!), but we'd need the money for a down payment. anyway, he wants to get a scion XB and i think those things are so ugly!!!!! like a low-ride kleenex box on wheels! so i'm trying to get other ideas for him. i wouldn't mind getting a volkswagen jetta for myself and giving him my car. we'll just have to see!
I love the looks of the Jettas, but VW quality scares me. I was actually considering a Passat (wanted the AWD) when I was looking for a new car a couple of years ago. Well, I went on a business trip and the rental car they gave me was a Passat. I was driving down a hot and fairly lonely highway in texas when I heard a pop, crash, scrape. Thinking that maybe I had blown a tire (but it didn't feel like that had happend), I pulled over. Seems a piece of plastic shielding had fallen off the bottom of the car. Well I picked it up, put it in the trunk and went to the nearest office of the rental car company. They were not suprised that this happend since the car had 11,000 miles on it. Seems "they all do that..." Needless to say, didn't buy a Passat.
