DISappearing Peeps...A fastpass to THIN! Part 4

thanks for all the car suggestions....keep 'em coming! it's giving me ideas. i love my CR-V. i had a honda civic before that and, believe it or not, the gas mileage on my CR-V is not much different. plus it's the newer body style which i love. it's a 2002 and it already has 109,000 miles on it....but i drive a lot for work!

DH is being stubborn about his car. he wants to keep driving it, but he comes home from work every day completely soaking wet with sweat because the air conditioning's out and he refuses to fix it. it's a convertible, but that doesn't make much of a difference in the middle of july. i love his car and wish we could keep it (it's nice to have in the spring/fall for top-down weekend drives!), but we'd need the money for a down payment. anyway, he wants to get a scion XB and i think those things are so ugly!!!!! like a low-ride kleenex box on wheels! so i'm trying to get other ideas for him. i wouldn't mind getting a volkswagen jetta for myself and giving him my car. we'll just have to see!

I love the looks of the Jettas, but VW quality scares me. I was actually considering a Passat (wanted the AWD) when I was looking for a new car a couple of years ago. Well, I went on a business trip and the rental car they gave me was a Passat. I was driving down a hot and fairly lonely highway in texas when I heard a pop, crash, scrape. Thinking that maybe I had blown a tire (but it didn't feel like that had happend), I pulled over. Seems a piece of plastic shielding had fallen off the bottom of the car. Well I picked it up, put it in the trunk and went to the nearest office of the rental car company. They were not suprised that this happend since the car had 11,000 miles on it. Seems "they all do that..." Needless to say, didn't buy a Passat.

July is a very busy peeps birthday month so let's start it off with one of our most favorite and been-around-the-longest peeps, DisneyObsession....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GAYLE!!!!!!

Happy Birthday Gayle!!! :cool1: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3: :cheer2: :grouphug:

Hope it's a great one!

:hippie: Thank-you all for the Birthday Wishes!!! :hippie:
You all have really made my day!!!

I don't have any real plans today, as it seems like just another day. At 45, are they really special anymore??? (OMG:scared1: I'm 45!!!!) My friend/co-worker brought me a Mickey Balloon and Mickey plush for my B'day (she's also getting me a Blizzard from Dairy Queen....:ssst: ), and DD & family gave me Disney Dollars for my trip! I am very excited!!!

BTW...Dance...Thanks for the offer to eat my cake! I appreciate the sacrifice!

Let me start by saying
GaylebdayfromGinger.jpg

45 is great. I'm 45, and I still feel like 36 (for what that's worth!) I hope this is a great year for you.

Newbie to the thread! I've been perusing the WISH boards since march when I started this crazy lifestyle change! lol. I've lost about 25 pounds so far, and my goal is to lose another 15 by my Disney trip in September!! I really want to be able to be comfortable in a spaghetti strapped tank top, thats my goal.

Welcome and congratulations on your weight loss so far. Good luck with the plateau busting.

I have my "wellness" appointment tomorrow. I have exceeded the wellness nurse's goal of 10 lbs... I think it is about 18-20 since my last appt, so I should get an insurance premium discount now! It will save me about $50/month, so I really hope it goes well.

Great job on the weight loss. And you can use that money for some smokin' hot skinny clothes!

Well, peeps I have my first Dr appt in a few hours. Why is it that I have confirmed my pregnancy with 3 home tests, yes I am OCD, and I still feel like I will go and they will tell me I am not really pregnant? Like somehow I was imagining it all, and just eating anything I wanted off my diet last week for no reason :scared:

Good luck with the appointment. I always felt that flippy-floppy funny feeling in my tummy about everything with my pregnancies. Not super-nervous, just realizing that all of this was very life-changing and monumental. Sort of like the feeling at the top of Summit Plummet; I was happy to be there, but I also wondered what I'd got myself into, and I knew there was no going back.

Guess what? I am tied for third place over on the photography board's weekly photo contest in the Fireworks final poll! :woohoo: I've entered countless weekly contests over there, and I have yet to place. I came close-ish once, but this would be a first for me. There's no money or anything to be won. Just for fun. And I always enjoy entering even if I don't place in the top three, but it's still exciting that I might just do it this time. :yay: (BTW, this is NOT a request to go vote for me. If you would like to, feel free, but I'm not soliciting votes. Just wanted to share my excitement with my Peeps! :))

I'm going to slip over and peek. Wooo hooootie for you!

My exercise today is walking to the Discovery Shop run by the Cancer Society to donate a blazer that a student gave me. It was from Old Navy, with the tag still on it, and SO not me, denim-like covered in glitter. I took it to ON to exchange it, and they said it was from their 2001 line! No biggie, just funny. I have my own gift cabinet where I keep things for gift-giving occasions, so I can see how this might happen.
After the Discovery Shop, I'm going to the post office to stop the mail for our DISNEYLAND TRIP this Saturday. :hyper: We are going to Knott's Berry Farm as well, and looking at 2 colleges for DD in the area, CSU Fullerton and CSU Long Beach. DS has a friend at Fullerton who's a knife from BATB in the parade at DL, and I told DD maybe she could work at DL too if she went to Fullerton. Nothing like fulfilling your mom's dreams:cloud9: .

Winkers...it was winkers, right?...I'm dying to know how you made out at the dentist! I'm sure you did mahvelous!

!

I'm alive! Well, let's say the lights on but nobodys home. The procedure wasn't anywhere near as bad as I had thought it would be. I was so numb even my eyelid was numb. Hurts worst today just on my jaw so I'm on some happy pills. Hence I'm not going to write anymore because I tend to not make sense on my meds.
Shannon, definatley get in and get things done before they get worse. That was my mistake.

Greetings All!

I am new to the thread. I had Gastric Bypass in April and I have lost somewhere between 55 and 60 pounds. I started at 235 and I am in the 170's right now. I can't be more specific because I am staying with me Mom and she doesn't have an accurate scale.

My Dr has my goal at 150 but I would prefer it to be 125-130 so that is what I am shooting for.

This has been a huge lifestyle change for me but except for one big hurdle of getting really ill a few weeks after the surgery and ending up in the hospital, I am getting quite used to it.

I am not exercising yet I am still recovering from the hospital but I can't wait to get that started.

At first all the weight started to come off my face and I was getting worried that I was going to have a shrunken head on a still quite "fluffy" body. I am starting to lose it more evenly now.

My diet is really strict. No sugar, no caffeine, just mostly protein and more protein and did I mention protein? Which is so fun because I am not a big fan of meat.

Oy!

I don't crave foods but my brain still shreaks at me over missing certian things. There is often an internal dialog going on in my head at each meal.

I am planing a Disney trip 8-17 for 2 weeks and this will be the first time I have done Disney without being able to nosh my way through it. I hope some of the "magic" isn't lost!:rotfl:

Lisa......too lame for a signature

That sounds like a fun trip! It would be really cool if she could work there! I know if I had the opportunity I would!:)

Feel better soon!!

Greetings All!

I am new to the thread.

Welcome!! This is a great group!!:cheer2:

Happy Birthday Gayle!!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Punkin,
My husband drives a Saturn and he loves it. His friend got a Scion (sp?) and he really likes it. I also think they are kind of odd looking. I eventully will have to get a car with four doors. I like the Escape, CR-V and the Pontiac G6. (Granted I have no idea how they are in terms of safety, cost, mileage... I am going strictly on looks!;) I will have to do more research when I buy one ).

Welcome Lisa!! Yay! Another NC Peep!! :yay:

We have a few other bypass-ers around here as well. Some of us do calorie counting (raises hand), some do South Beach, and a few have started Alli.

winkers, hope you feel better soon. Glad they gave you good happy pills.

I have had a good healthy day. Bfast was 1 cup of dry cereal (Apple Jacks), Lunch was a LC Steak tips meal, salad, and strawberries, and I have an apple for a snack. I think dinner will be low-cal shepherd's pie made w/ 96/4 lean ground beef. I did 32 min on the elliptical and a full weight circuit at lunch. I think I am finally back on track after all the mess from last week.

Also, DH weighed himself today and he is down 20 lbs! I am so happy, and hopeful that this will help motivate him to lose the 40 more that he is facing down. Course, once he really puts his mind to it, the weight will fall off him. Men!

Hope you are having a great birthday Gayle. I'll have something yummy and think of you today ok?

The heat is getting to me. I'm very lazy and that's my excuse for not being around much. I have just enough energy to do the must dos.

I've slept on the couch the last week due to the pain I get in my legs. It's more tolerable on the couch. I'm woken up every hour to roll, (ha! roll! more like flop like a fish on land), over to my other side. Not to mention having to go potty every two hours through the night. So I am just a zombie.

We are supposed to go to the show tonight to stay cool, I'll fall asleep I gaurantee it! Rattatoullie. I hope I spelled that right. Mal is so excited to see it.

My son came up to me two weeks ago and said, "Mom. I want to do the healthy challenge that Nickelodean is doing". So we looked it up on line and made some changes to his diet and added lots of exercise. He's lost 7 pounds in 2 weeks. I am so proud of his accomplishment. He said he wants to lose 20 pounds. We have rewards set up for every 5 pounds. I owe him a pack of baseball cards as of this morning.

He's a little hefty. I can already see a difference in his sides. I have one son that couldn't gain a pound if he tried. Way thin. And my youngest is the opposite. Takes after mom. Poor thing. If you seen the pics in my TR you'll understand. I just want him to be happy and successful with this and I'm so glad he asked me to do it. He's very determined.

That's it for now. Take care ladies. I'll try to check in more.

Peace!:hippie:

Monica- Your pregnancy is just flying by for me! Hahahaha! I used to stand in the open refrigerator/freezer to cool off. Feel better!

Winkers- Cute stockade picture!!! Where was that taken?

To all the car talkers- My 94 Suburban has over 160K miles on it. It's part of our family!

Newbies- WELCOME We all had to post a picture of ourselves in a bathing suit so you need to too. It's our initiation (Just Kidding! Unless you WANT to!). Welcome!!!!!

DisneyObsessionsGayle- Happy Birthday!!!!! party: :bday:

AHHHH!!! I don't think any of you want to see me in a bathing suit with this lovely preggo belly I have going on! ;)

Well, the Dr's appt went ok, but didnt really get rid of my delusions just yet! They did blood work, which takes 24hrs, instead of a urine test to confirm the pregnancy. So now I have to wait 24hrs to make sure I am still pregnant ;) I also have a nice little bruise starting where they drew blood.

We are off to get some pizza for dinner....YUM! I will have some for you guys too :rotfl:

Even though I'm a newbie, i'd like to share with you a discovery I recently made. While perusing in iPhoto (A photo program for mac that stores your pics) I compared a recent photo of myself with a photo from last year...I still have a ways to go, but I finally am able to see a change which made me happy! I hope this is okay and doesn't seem too forward of me.

Right now i've hit a bad plateu, It's been about 2 weeks with no change. Tomorrow is weigh day, so I guess I'll have to wait and see if my extra exersize paid off this week!

Welcome Nicole! :cheer2: :cheer2:

Glad the appt went ok at least! Today started the mild menstrual like cramps for me. At first I was a tad worried b/c even with AF I never had cramps for more then a few hours the first day. They are very mild though..more achy then anything. Luckily I got an information packet in the mail from my Dr. today and it said these were completely normal as the "uterus expands." So I feel better. I am just an OCD nervous nelly!!

I don't have the fears that I am not pregnant like you Jen...I have never been more then a day late in my life and if I wasn't then I would be 4 days late. ;)

Nicole, I can definitely tell a difference!

I am trying to find a before pic... I think I will have to freeze frame from our Jan trip DVD. I promised someone (wink) that I would take an in between but I have to wait until DH is working late so he doesn't think I am a total weirdo for taking pics of the mirror.

Happy Birthday Gayle!!!!!!!!!!!! :rockband: :dancer: party: :bday: :jumping1: :bday: party: :cake: :rockband: :bday:
