Oh, and the poodle was GREAT at agility! One of the best in the class! :thumbsup2

How about "Bow"? (Like her front end down and her back end up, Josh and I call it play stance.) To teach it, you kind of have to reach around her mid section, holding her bellyup and put a treat down with the other hand. Does that make sense?

Total sense. She acutally does that on her own A LOT! I think I remember reading some ways to teach it online too...I'll have to google that later.

Thanks!

Great countdown calendar!! All I used was a dry-erase board!!

Shucks on the no money thing. I don't really read anymore so I don't think I would find something to trade. Might be worth looking into for children's book though...I have an obsession with buying those!! If I never have kids my sister will never have to buy my nephew a book again!! :rotfl:

LOL! I know just what you mean. I have started to give mine over to my sister only because she has a baby and I have no space. I could spend more time in the kids section of a bookstore than the adult- and I love to read!

loves it!!! winkers did one too and it was so cute! i'm so doing one for our april 2008 trip! do you think 9 months out is too early??? :rotfl:

Well maybe if we all go to Home Depot and start collecting the mickeys for you we can come up with the 250+ day count you would need.... although it would probably fill an entire wall! Lucky you, going back to WDW every year! I have no idea when we will be back after this trip!

Not to butt in BUT... lol... get it butt, but... ha ha! :rotfl:
Anyways, my DBF and I have taught our dog the normal stuff- Sit, Paw, High Five, Lay, Up, but another easy one is crawl (I got this off a package of Scooby Snacks). All you have to do is get the pup in lay position then put the treat towards the floor and slowly pull it farther away. After about 4 or 5 times Liam figured it right out. We also accidentally taught him to "Do Nice" when he was playing rough so that he would lick instead of nibble. So now all I have to do is put out my hand and say Do Nice and he licks. Lately my DBF has been bored and changing the command to Be a Little Gentleman... lol... and it works. It might be cute to teach your pup to "Give Kisses" or something that the group would get a kick out of. That is another quickie. In any case, good luck and be sure to post back after you bring her(?) in!

Not only do I have ALL my books from when I was a kid but I also buy a bunch of Scholastic books when the kids at work have book orders. I also have all my Babysitters Club series! They are worth squat so I will hang on to them I guess!

Morning Peeps! I hope everyone has a great Thursday! I am taking the kids to the Buffalo Zoo today b/c we need a change from our local one. Plus, my membership will work there so you can't beat that!! :wizard:

GOOD MORNING, ALL! :sunny:

DD13 spent the night out last night. She is doing that vocal camp this week. The location of the camp is not that close to our house, so I have a carpool set up with another family...they drop off, I pick up.

So Tuesday morning I get a call from DD at around 8:30 am after she's at camp....I forgot my music! So I get DS ready, go way outta my way and drive the music over to the camp. Before she left yesterday I asked about 3 times...do you have your music???

So last night she was asked to spend the night with a friend who is also attending the camp. I took her to over to drop her off and when we arrive at friend's house she says "Oh...I forgot my music!"

I decided to be the mean mama and let her stew in her own forgetful juices. Her choices: Get in the car and go back home and have your music OR go to camp without your music and spend the night w/ your friend. Guess what she picked?

I'm tired of running after the bus! How can she learn from her mistakes if I keep fixing them? Am I being a meanie??
"looks like rat turds." gee......thanks for the encouragement, honey!
Husbands say the darndest things! Really, Dawn....eat a bowl of the rat turds....I mean all bran...for guaranteed results! :thumbsup2 If you can't bear the thought, then sprinkle it on some cereal that you like.
Now... I want to share my Disney creation of the day!
That is SO cute! I wish I could do that here. We are not telling DS about the Sept. trip til we get ready to go. We is a little OCD about the calendar and countdowns. It's really for my own sanity. BUT, he asked me last night...when can we go to Disney World again? ;)
I am taking the kids to the Buffalo Zoo today b/c we need a change from our local one.
OH, FUN! I love the zoo! We don't have one here so we have to drive at least an hour to any zoo or aquarium. Tara...have I told you that I've been to Buffalo several times? My college boyfriend was from Buffalo. I love it there. Of course, I've only been there in the summer time. ;)

MApiglet
....WELCOME HOME! Tell us all about it!

FIDGE
....I'm calling you out again, girl! Don't make me worry!

ALL POINTS BULLETIN OUT FOR NONI, ALLIE, & DENE!!!

HAVE A GREAT DAY EVERYBODY! :flower3:

Now... I want to share my Disney creation of the day!
I will put it in my PTR someday- hopefully in a week or so when I have actually been able to take some numbers down! ;)

I was inspired by a thread by marcime and lazidazi's TR! I just  the idea of a countdown!!! WDW here I come!
That is very cute---I had never thought of making one like that. WE always just put it on the calendar as well.

You are so right on this one. You donot believe how many students I have had that their parents would drop everything and I mean everything to bring them what they had forgotten and this was not just a one time thing. THey knew they did not have to be responsible if someone else would be. I think you are doing a great thing. Sometimes when we get burned we tend not to do that action again. Hopefully she will remember this!

Only one more day of summer school :cool1: Today I have to take older kiddos shopping for camp. We leave on Sunday morning and have realized we are short a few things. I also need some more clothes so shopping we must go.

Have a good one!!!

Lucky you, going back to WDW every year! I have no idea when we will be back after this trip!

well, before our trip in may, i hadn't been since 1992 and ray hadn't been since before that...:scared1: so it's long overdue! and when we realized that the drive wasn't that bad (7.5 hours), it just sort of clicked that we could manage to go again next year. ray even said, "it's not like it's a big deal. going to disney used to be this huge, expensive vacation. but now they've got it set up to where if you plan ahead, it's really not a big deal." DUH!!!!!!!

I'm tired of running after the bus! How can she learn from her mistakes if I keep fixing them? Am I being a meanie??

no! i think you're being a good mom! i'm the kind of person that will go out of my way for the people i love and i know i'm gonna struggle with this sort of thing if i ever become a mom. but it's for her own good. she's got to learn! ;)

Good morning everybody! :)
So i was a bad Peep and totally missed my weigh in last night! Greg ( the boyfriend) was getting sworn in as a Firefighter last night ( finally, he's been full time over a year1/2 now!) and i had to be there..ah well. I will get on the WW train next week...after WDW and this weekend we are going to Nantucket, the # might be scary but i gotta be accountable, because thats what Peeps do! :thumbsup2
Someone asked me if i was doing a TR, i am not sure if i will be doing a TR this time around, BUT i do have plans to do a dining review...:goodvibes

Oh yeah! Crawl is a good one too! We also did 'Bang' or 'Flop', where she lays down on her side, kinda like 'Play dead', but I like 'Bang' as the command myself.

I don't think so. It may seem that way to her right now, but she will thank you for it later, I am sure. I think my mom maybe catered to me a little too much. (I'm her only child.) And I think it's harder to learn those lessons later in life. I think you're doing the right thing! :)

I totally hear the "catered to too much thing" i am also an only child and def. agree with your statement Lynda. Just like Skiing, its hard to learn certain lessons later on in life!
Melinda, I think you are doing the right thing as a momma...:)

Good MORNIN!!

stormy here - I want to do something today too, maybe a movie tho - I'm thinking Nancy Drew - dd thinks ND is so "predictable - they tell you the answer in the title of the book" :sad2:

Melinda - Just talk to her - I'd be taking her music too, but I wonder if you cant have her do something for you - talk about penance maybe??? And maybe make her put her music in the car the night before - I've gone up and down with those punishments... in the end we want them to be productive, we want them to get along, and we want them to be kind - and not dependent on us...

Love the dog stories... I had a poodle, I want another!!

Love the countdown - we're also going to keep Sept a huge secret from DD - luckily for us we're planning that jan '08 trip - I cant keep Dd from finding mail Disney keeps sending us! or I'm on the phone... :rolleyes1

just made my first batch of magic pooh: muffins. they're in the oven now. i'll let you guys know how they turn out and if they work.....don't worry....no details! :lmao: i couldn't find the fat free brownie mix, so i got low fat. i figured out the calorie count to be around 115 per muffin. does that sound about right to those of you that have made them?

i had a bowl of the all bran cereal soaking in water sitting on the counter and DH walked by and goes "what the h*ll is that?" i told him and he said, "looks like rat turds." gee......thanks for the encouragement, honey!

Well? How'd it "go"? :cool2:

I hate the lumpyness, but the flavor is great. I soak the cereal in my Kitchen Aid bowl, then wisk the dickens out of it before adding all the ingredients. It doesn't help that much, but still!

I'm going to a Pampered Chef party tonight! I get all excited over these things. It could be pulling weeds at a neighbor's house, and I'd be excited to get out of the house for a little while.

Winkers??? Are you going to post the picture when you get home? I figure you don't have access to do this where you are. It was soooo nice visiting with you!!!!

Melinda, I have had the same problem with my DD 12. Very frustrating. I told her that if I had to bring something else to school for her that I was coming to her class in my pajamas, rollers, slippers, and I would be totally obnoxious. She knows me, so she knows I would do it. I have no shame.

You did the right thing. I have let Madison suffer the consequences and that helps her remember the next time.

Heather - I ran into Rhonda at Wal-Mart. Are you ready for camp? I hope you guys have great time! No Wet Willy for you this year!

I'm tired of running after the bus! How can she learn from her mistakes if I keep fixing them? Am I being a meanie??
NOPE! You did the right thing. My mom would ahve done that, and let me tell you....I learned from it. I double check everything before I leave now because I hate the feeling of forgetting something. All it takes is one time being the only one without something to get the message.

When we went last sept, it had been since 97 for me. I sure wish TX was closer to FL! I would love a 7.5 hour drive!!

Not much new here today. Watching my food very closely since it is weigh in day eve. It is cloudy and humid, so no swimming today. I am stuck in the house with temptation all day. I need to clean the fridge. For some reason I find it very hard to toss out leftovers, even when I know they are not good anymore. Like I am wasting food. I will be especially pained to toss out the leftover cake...but it has to go. It keeps calling me :rotfl:

nothing yet. but i have a really wierd digestive system, so i'm not normal in that department at all!

i feel really odd talking about this to people i've never met before!!! :upsidedow

Jen - I forgot what part of Texas you are in, my relatives in Sherman TX got hit by HUGE rain - I thought of you and wonder how's the rains?

Dawn - :rotfl: I know the TMI feeling!! We're here for you!!

Has anyone else been reading the Alli thread??? It sounds too good to be true... 20 day supply for $50 that's so much money!

:rotfl: No worries Dawn! I know I've made mention of my really weird digestive system here before. I mean, I've never gone into great detail, but it really does have an effect on weight loss! Sometimes I know I have trouble knowing how something I eat will affect me, and then it can affect my weigh in too. I am actually thinking that if they don't find anything on the endoscopy next week, I may ask the doctor about IBS. I don't know if that's my problem, but I'd like to know what the problem is so I'm treating it, not just the symptoms.

i'm 99.9% sure i have IBS. i've never been diagnosed because, well, to be honest, because i don't want to have an enima done and i know that's what they'll do! (yes, i know......another TMI topic!!!) i have several books on IBS and that's the only thing that makes sense to me. it's like i have to eat twice as much fiber as a normal person to be "regular" in that department. when i was younger, like early 20's, it was way worse. i'd go for like almost two weeks with nothing.......:scared: yes, i know......NOT good. i realized that when my gyno told me i needed to look into fixing that problem or i'd be in adult diapers by the time i was 40. so now i eat lots of fruit and drink lots of water and that helps. i hope you get your wierd digestive stuff figured out and it's something you can manage easily!

Well peeps...not such good news here. We have tried every undergarment known to man and she still needs an inch or so. We actually were able to zip it this morning but the minute she moved, it went down again. She leaves here on Friday to go back to Ohio for the wedding and I leave monday. We have no time for anyone to fix this dress, not to mention every place around here said they cant do it anyways. And we cant afford to pay a ton at this point even if they could. She just left here a few minutes ago after we tried yet another sucker inner thingy, and she left in tears and I started right as she left. :sad1:

I just wish I could help her in some way. I know her pain, been there myself a few times too. I just cant think of any easy fix we can do ourselves to the dress. The top part is a corset type and it zips to the waist. We can zip it past her hips, but I think that is the problem-her hips are a bit too wide making it impossible to close the zipper to finish the rest of the way. We either need to find a way to add fabric and move the zipper (because the seams have zero in them we could let out) or take out the zipper and find a way to make the corset go all the way down. Both of which seem too hard for me, a novice seamstress at best, to do. I am just so upset that I can help her...she has done so much for me.

OK...I just read this and don't know the whole situation, but I think I got the gist of it. So, here is my suggestion. SPANX! They are an amazing undergarment that takes 1-2 inches off of you. I bought mine at Lane Bryant for a dress I wore to my nieces wedding on Sat and they are wonderful!!! :thumbsup2 They have them in different degrees of coverage. I suggest you check them out. These should help.

We got new cable/internet service, and my computer is the only one that doesn't work in our house. I'm on DH's now. The 400 TV stations are great, but I want my computer back :badpc:

OK I know it's dorky to quote yourself, but I'm a FLIPPIN' GENIUS! Two guys from ATT U-Verse couldn't fix my 'puter, and I figured it out myself this morning. I just hooked our old router into the new router from ATT, and Voila! I got access. for me. Sorry if this seems like bragging, but I'm really proud of myself. I'm no computer genius, so I'm amazed that I was able to figure this out.
