Sorry for the drama!

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!

Learning to live with food, not without food.
The hardest part about our sensible approach to weight loss is convincing people that it works. When we tell people that we've lost three hundred pounds eating fabulous food, they simply can't believe it. For most of us, trying to lose weight has always been associated with feeling deeply deprived while eating horrid food. But we'd "been there, done that" with the deprivation and horrid food. A lifetime of "yo-yo" dieting is how we got to be so fat!

Most of us with weight problems no longer have any idea what it takes to support a healthy weight. We're always either dieting or planning to diet. And when we're planning to diet, we're EATING! How do you lose weight and keep it off? You have to stop dieting, stop planning to diet, and start learning to eat correctly. How do you begin?

Choose a reasonable goal weight. Calculate your daily caloric intake using the following formula:
Female: Goal weight in pounds X 12 calories/pound = Daily caloric intake
Male: Goal weight in pounds X 14 calories/pound = Daily caloric intake.

Start eating a well-balanced diet that contains this number of calories.

After a few days, take a good, hard look at how you're doing. If you're not happy with the amount of food that maintains your goal weight, you have two choices: you can either start exercising or you can decide to weigh more. If you lose weight by eating less food than you're willing to subsist on forever, you're wasting your time. As soon you start eating more calories, you'll start gaining weight.

If you lose weight by "practicing" to maintain the weight you wish to achieve, you'll know how to sustain it when you get there. And we're living proof that it's possible.

HAVE A GREAT DAY, EVERYONE!

I loved this! It actually allows me a lot more calories than I have been going for, which makes me feel not so bad about my recent choices. That being said, I had slim-fast shake for breakfast. Which, actually, worked out great. It filled me up enough to get through the morning, got me some vitamins AND saved a bunch of calories. After reading this I am really glad I decided to use it for more of a quick breakfast than meal replacement- it makes me feel liek it would be easier to stick with wieght loss. Thanks! :)

Welp! ;) That is a lot of stress, but you made it through the worst.

There's lots of time to undo any damage. You can do it! Get a bunch of healthier options... NOT that a chocolate rice cake will help at all when there's cinnamon rolls, you are human after all. But maybe it'll help a little or a lot?

That is a good idea, to go to the gym. You'll feel so much better! (I was just talking to myself as well :rolleyes1 )

 to you!!! Be good to yourself today!

I think I will do much better when I make a little more money and am in school all day. I only teach until around 10 now and then I am home for the rest of the day because I am PT. With full time I can bring my lunch and control what I am eating almost all of the day. I am looking to get a good jumpstart on wieght loss this summer so that by back to school I already have a set routine, ya know? While, I know you are right about better options my most recent problem is that since I haven't been home, the good is not accessible but the bad is! Will power is what I need! ;)

BTW -- does anyone have a suggestion for a decent Point and Shoot Digital camera <$200??

I LOOOOOOOOOVE my Sony. Its a little more than your price range but Sony makes GREAT digital cameras. Before this one I had a Fuji which was very durable but the pictures did not come out as nice as the Sony. Also, I would try reading up on epinions.com to see what other people thought once you find a model. Sometimes you will see a great looking and feeling camera at the store and then the software is horrible and such. :goodvibes

Hi Peeps! I hope everyone is having a skinny day! I have been doing pretty well at keeping within my points each day. I have to start doing some excercise though! That is something I am really slacking on. I have been working on my Disney scrapbook. I think it is coming out pretty good for my first attempt. I also have been working on....school stuff:scared1: ! I know I have a lot of time before school starts in August. But I figure if I do a little at a time I won't be as stressed out trying to get it all done. If anyone eats Lean Cuisine meals, I love the Lean Cuisine meals with twice the veggies. They are so much more filling! I had the peanut chicken one for lunch and I liked it.:thumbsup2

I have def had plenty of planning for September as well! Any tips for a first time full time teacher? Disney Scrapbooking is the best! Scrapbooking is one of my favorite hobbies!

Hi Peeps!

Just stopping by to let you know I won't be around all weekend, as I leave 4:30am tomorrow morning on a train to Albany for my nieces wedding! So, I am recording my WI now.... 1 lb lost!!!!! I am on a steady downhill progression, but it is slow. I guess it's true..."Slow & steady wins the race." I'll win this weight loss race before I know it!!! (Said with all the confidence I can muster!!! :cool1: )

Hope everyone is doing well. Enjoy your weekend! :hippie:

Congrats on the weight loss and have fun at the wedding!!

Well hello Peeps! I am embarresed to admit that I haven't been on here since I thin March...I hope you haven't forgotten me!!! I see so many new names that I am completely lost! :confused3

Anyways, Dismom emailed me and told me to hop on here because someone is planning their first trip to NY...I AM SOOOOO JEALOUS!!!

My DBF and I went for the first time a couple of months ago and absolutely fell in love with the city! We would move there if a 700 sf apartment didn't cost $2600!!! :scared1:

Anyways - I just wanted to jump in and say hello :wave2:
I promise I will try to do better...I think about you guys alot...I have my bracelet on my key chain and it keeps you all in my thoughts!!!

Bad news is I haven't lost any more weight...Good news is I haven't gained any either. I really have to get my rear motivated again!

NY is the best! You just made me feel great pride for being a NYer! I guess that is how everyone feels about their state though! I am going to see Beauty and the Beast tomorrow and I am sooooo excited! I will be sure to post up all about it!!!

So, I added red to the headpieces...it looks better I think

I loved it yesterday and I love it more today! Great job!

Well, peeps, today was good and bad. Did alright in the eating department and in the exercising (took the pool cover off and cleaned it out and all that yucky stuff). BUT had a horrible day at work. Found out that someone fudged up and I hadn't gotten any deductions taken all year for the Teacher's Retirement System in New York! Found out that I owe 3% of my year's salary to the district! :scared1: And they are taking it over the next 2 paychecks! So I am losing like $700 out of my summer balloon checks! I was so sad and mad and everything! I was like half being angry and half crying on the phone. The women in accounting helped a little but there is no way around the fact that someone fudged up and no one noticed. And since I am only part time my wee little balloon check that is supposed to last me all summer... is much more wee and little. I feel better about it now, but I sort of had a mental breakdown earlier!
Oh and my kids are doing pretty darn good so far in my grading so I did all that nervous eating for nothing! ;)

In any case- thank god tomorrow is friday! Phew! Let's get this week over with and go out with a bang! Beauty and the Beast on Broadway here I come!!

Ok Peeps, Me and Misty are gonna meet with Winkers (Cherie) some time this week. BUT!!!!! I forgot to give her our phone numbers :scared1:

i have two phone numbers for winkers from when we were going to try to meet at epcot. i really don't think she'd mind if i gave them to you. if you still need to get in touch with her when you see this, let me know and i'll PM them to you. :)

Beauty and the Beast on Broadway here I come!!

i'm SOOOOOOOO super jealous! beauty and the beast is one of my all-time favorites (along with peter pan, alice in wonderland and aladdin). have a blast!!!! and sorry to hear about your financial troubles. i've been there!!!! it'll get better. it always does!

UM/spongemisty - i just called winkers to make sure it was okay to send you guys her phone number and she said that was fine. i knew she would.....just didn't want to take it upon myself to hand out someone else's phone number!!! i'm PMing both of you with it now.

by the way, winkers is in utah and she was playing with the baby when i called her! :goodvibes

Ok Melinda I have a quesiton about this formula, how successful is it?? How long does it take at that rate of intake??

With the change in my restrictions I am stuck. I am frsutrated as well. I did drop 14 intially after getting ill. I did not add it to my ribbon as I knew it would be a short term thingy. So now I am back at the 25 loss mark and still have another 60 to go. I am getting back some of my energy just now need motivation EEEKKK I am so ticked that I was doing better with my view of food.

Now I am back to thinking of it as something besides a source of energy and nutrition. I got up last night around 3 am and ate 4 each of yodels. I was angry at myself I can't tell you.

So I am trying to find a way that I can eat what they wnat me to but still work on weight loss. Funny thing they noticed I am a bit on the heavy side I stood there in shock and said your scale must be wrong I went to bed and weighed 115 I have no diea where all this came from. No snse of humor does the medical prfoession hold !

Ok enough babbbling and whninhg and typos out of me!

FIDGE!!! I MISSED YOU!!!! and your tpyoes:rotfl:

So glad to hear from you!

SNADY WHERE are you girlfriend?:hippie:

Garsh- i feel all out of whack havent bee here in a while...ya know...life happened and all that stuff....Peeps you should know that I have been faithful in my gym trips and I go TWO count em TWO "have you lost weight?you're looking greats" today :cool1: all those hours of sore muscles and sweat are starting to pay off!!! I finally got serious about my food and changed my way of thinking about it, so we'll see tomorrow if I did good.

so how is everybody?

So, I added red to the headpieces...it looks better I think

I am sorry about the money situation! That really stinks! I hope everything works out alright!

Scrapbooking is so addictive! I need to go to Michael's tomorrow to get some more supplies.

As far as the first year teacher thing, I have a lot of tips. I will PM you with some ideas. Are you teaching high school?

I love Beauty and the Beast!! I would love to see that especially on Broadway! Have fun!

Peeps you should know that I have been faithful in my gym trips and I go TWO count em TWO "have you lost weight?you're looking greats" today :cool1:

:cool1: :yay: :cool1: AWESOME!!!!!!!

hope everyone has skinny dreams tonight....and good luck on the numbers tomorrow!!! :goodvibes

So I think you guys might know that I have been trying to get my best friend on board for a vacation to Vero Beach next summer. But after some reading I think her kids may be bored (and me?? ;) I am not a fan of just sitting on the beach) So we considered a split stay between VB and WDW. Well that turned out to be a little too much $$. So I then figured a 5 night stay at WDW on DVC pts. she would rent from me...only $300 more then the VB vacation. How do you beat that?? :cool1: The hard part was convincing her stick-in-the-pants husband (sound familiar Jen?? :rotfl: ) I told him about the golf courses and how cheap the rounds are with DVC and he was in. I think the boys will golf on the Epcot days (DH was all for that!!!!!) So that only leaves 3 days her DH will have to suffer through the parks. He has always boycotted FL b/c he has never been but I think he will be surprised at how much fun he will have. I can't book until Sept. 15th though so a reservation and then a Peep Meet in the same month. Yeah!! :yay:

Thanks for asking about Ray...she is doing much better but she kepps waking at night and screaming for at least an hour.:sad2:
awww - I'm so sorry. Is she feeling better at all? So often people say there is an immediate difference...

punkin - I know I'm not Harley, better yet you don't even know me, but I just stumbled across your trip report this week and have really been enjoying it! I have also been losing some weight, which is what brought me to the Disappearing Peeps thread. We have a Harley-Davidson store where I live and if you can't find one anywhere else, I don't mind to pick one up for you and ship it to you. Anything for a fellow DISer! ;)
We're glad to have you! More the merrier!

Now I am back to thinking of it as something besides a source of energy and nutrition. I got up last night around 3 am and ate 4 each of yodels. I was angry at myself I can't tell you.

Why, why, why do we do these things to ourselves?!?! (I don't know what yodels are...), but I make bad choices a lot of times and it hurts no one but me. I try to remember I'm making lots more good choices than bad, but I just wish I could understand why I would ever choose what I know is not what I want!

Jen - I like your headpieces even better - the color added just that certain something! Really pretty!

Walked a little longer on the treadmill tonight than required by my trainer - one good choice for today!!

Punkin, I noticed you say you haven't seen a peach tree?! Have you tried peach cider? Not a good thing for the peep thread - it is soooooo yummy!

I was going to welcome someone back - Dragonfly? - I can't remember...
I've seen just enough of NYC to know I want to go back. I hope I won't have to wait too long for the opportunity!! Everybody who has been should tell us their one MOST favorite thing! I bet we'll get lots of points of view.

how exciting!!!! i'm already planning our trip in two years to disneyland paris in my head!!!! :lmao:

Punkin, I noticed you say you haven't seen a peach tree?! Have you tried peach cider? Not a good thing for the peep thread - it is soooooo yummy!

nope, never tried it. sounds yummy. i wonder if it has pulp in it? me no likie pulp....makes me gag. yuck!!!

Hmm....favorite part of NYC huh? I went for a school art trip in 2002 but don't remember too much. I also went for New Year's in 2003 (did NOT do Times Square though!) to visit my high school bf from 11 years before!! :rotfl: Let's just say that Tara was a naughty girl. What is it about being single and on a mini-vacation that makes us lose our willpower? Hmm. :rolleyes1

ANYWAY.......I think my favorite part of NYC was riding the subway (riding with someone who lives there helps!!! :thumbsup2 ) and walking through the city after watching a play with Patrick Stewart and Kyle Maclaughlin. I felt like we had the whole city to ourselves. Total Sarah Jessica Parker moment. Aww..the memories!!! :goodvibes

No!!! I am not pining for him but I went on this trip 2 months after my mom got sick so I will always hold the memories close. I was in a bad place and he helped me get through some of it. We lost touch about 2 years ago. That's ok though..he was a c***y little b*****d!!!

nope, never tried it. sounds yummy. i wonder if it has pulp in it? me no likie pulp....makes me gag. yuck!!!

How does Ray feel about Paris? I don't think my Ray would go for anything unless I went to Italy with him and I have NO desire to ever go there. I guess we will stick with FL!! ;)

Another thing we don't have in common...I love pulp!! I like so much pulp in my OJ it gets clogged!!! My light OJ only has minimal pulp. Grr. :headache:

Night Peeps!! Sleep away those pds!!

How does Ray feel about Paris? I don't think my Ray would go for anything unless I went to Italy with him and I have NO desire to ever go there. I guess we will stick with FL!! ;)

um......i don't know how ray feels about paris because i haven't mentioned it to him yet! i'm sure he'd be up for disneyland tokyo though. he's been wanting to go there for awhile now. and i have NO interest in going there. we both agree that we'd LOVE to go to italy, so i was thinking disneyland paris as a side trip to italy. there's an attorney our firm does a lot of work for and one of our court reporters used to work for him as a secretary. he's writing a book now and she's editing it for him, so they're more friends than they are colleagues. anyway, she told me recently that he and his wife are thinking of buying a house in tuscany because they go to italy like 6 times a year and it would make sense to have a house there. MUST BE NICE!!!!!!! anyway, debbie (my co-worker) says that he'll let any of us stay there if we ever go to italy as long as they're not using it FREE OF CHARGE!!!!!! i'm SO THERE!!!

nope, never tried it. sounds yummy. i wonder if it has pulp in it? me no likie pulp....makes me gag. yuck!!!
No pulp! (I'm pretty sure) You would be able to look and tell.

Definitely, Italy! And given half a chance I would add DLParis as a side trip to Italy! What a great idea! Hope it works out.

Night, all!

SAMER THats ok too since I have not done anything positive towards any loss this this week. Thanks all for the feedback on the caloire count thing. ONe thing I do know is when I not eatting processed foods I feel much better.
I need to WANT to eat that way now!

I stayed the same.I guess that is good because I have been steadily gaining which is why I am busting out of my pants.Anf they are my "fat" pants.:sad1:
