Hi peeps! Crazy day here today and yesterday....we are in the midst of wedding preparation for my sister. She has less than 2 weeks left now and we have so much to do! So I admit to skimming the last few pages. Lucky for me, I dont watch the Sopranos, so there were quite a few posts I could skip ;)

Today has been spent making flower girl headpieces. I think they came out pretty cute, if I do say so myself! Here are some pics for you all of my supermodel showing them off. I could not get her to take a 'nice' picture, they all came out like she was a mini Paris Hilton :rotfl: I made them with fake flowers hot glued onto a hoop people use for embroidery. (they were the right size and 2 for $1!)
.

Off to try to make dinner!
Super nice headpieces...where were you when I needed you 2 months ago? ;)

Your headpieces are so pretty:goodvibes You are so talented.

By the way, my name is Tammy- I am a newbie to this group.
:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Welcome!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Welcome!!!

I know you are impressed with all my 'Martha Stewart like' skills, huh?! Too bad I didnt know you before your wedding or I could have done them for you too. And made your cake :rotfl: I love a project though, especially one I can do in one day. I like to start things and tend to forget to finish them. Like the bouquets I am doing that are only 1/2 done. SHHHH...dont tell my sister ;)

wonder woman is my best friend and fitness trainer, anna. i call her that because she has the body of a goddess and has a 3-year-old and teaches fitness classes and it just an all-around amazing person......wonder woman!

this is wonder woman (the one in the middle with the light blue bikini)......

Wow! She is Wonder Woman! I bet she is the BEST workout partner though! I get mad at myself for gaining weight when I see fabulous looking moms! I think to myself- any mom would have an excuse to gain wieght, they are carrying another human being- me... im just lazy! lol! ;)

Kickboxing is AWESOME!! It is a great workout and really, really helps tone and define abs as well as just about every other muscle. Plus you can get your stress out by imagining your least favorite person is the bag. The gym I used to belong to offered kickboxing, but they got bought out, my membership lapsed, and when I went to join back up the fees were MUCH higher and no more kickboxing. And I just can't justify adding a class fee to my gym and hockey fees.

I took one once in high school but I dont remember anything but sweat and giggles. lol... you know how it is in high school. Me and my friends burned half our calories from laughing at our instructors un-clipped toenails! lol! :lmao:

We are thinking of going in either Jan 2010 or Jan 2011. Silly sounding eh? We just really want to go but it's high DVC points. We figure we will only need half the nights we usually stay for.
Ray shouldn't miss Yellowstone. I did a 6 week cross country trip in 99 and it was the best time of my life!!! I wish I was in a position to do it again. (Hey..I do have this summer off!! Who's in??

also, about DL, i'm really wanting to go there within the next few years. i was looking at the website and it looks really cool. ray wants to go to yellowstone soon, so maybe i can convince him that we could stop by DL while we're in that area of the country! who knows what will happen???

As for DL... and California.. and Yosemite and all... Rob (my DBF) and I are looking into this Caravan tour of California that ends in LA. My goal is to extend it so that we can stay in DisneyLand for a weekend or so. It starts in San Franciso, from there you go on a cruise of the bay, visit wine country, then head to the Sierra Nevadas, then Yosemite, then you see the Redwoods, Hearst Castle, and Beverly Hills, Hollywood, and finnally LA. The 8th day ends the trip at like 9:00am so my goal it so work out an early check-in to DL- have the entire 8th day and 9th day and then fly out on the 10th day afternoon. It seems like a lot, but it is only $995 per person for the tour, plus whatever it would cost us for a weekend in DL. The website is http://www.caravantours.com/Tours/california-tours.html if that sounds interesting to anyone. I think all in all, it would actually be relaxing. Once I get back from our current WDW trip I will spend some time this summer researching some more. :)

They look just perfect! Great job!

In all my senseless rambles, I forgot to mention- today was a very bad no good rotten day for me eating wise. I am a nervous eater and since (as I have mentioned before) I am a first year teacher and today was our final exam AND I had to leave school before I got to grade a single one... lets just say my nerves got the best of me... and a cinnamon roll... and a few cookies... and a tootsie pop. :sad1:
Here's hoping tomorrow will be a good make-up day. AND maybe even a gym day. OR maybe just somewhere in between.
:guilty: I've already decided it would be a good day to try Slim-fast breakfast and lunch. Lets hope dinner and snacking work out alright for me <fingers crossed>...

Toostie Roll Pops are low in fat I believe!! ;)

yes, she is definitely a good workout partner.....she motivates me so much! but i just wanted to say, as far as looking at others and getting mad at yourself.......i've learned this since anna and i have become so close: everyone is built differently and it comes easier for some people than others. there is NO WAY i'm ever gonna look like her and i've accepted that. some people are just blessed to look incredible and to be able to look the way they do with less effort than others. i'm not saying she doesn't work her booty off at the gym, but even if i did the same thing i wouldn't look like her. i'm just not built that way. i am a firm believer that we're each blessed with our own gifts and anna's is her fitness!

 i'm sure it'll get better. by the way, be sure to drink lots of water with those slim-fast shakes. i get constipated so easily with those if i don't drink LOTS of water.....like more than i'm used to!

Welcome!! :yay:

dance, headpieces are gorgeous!

I had a pretty good day eating-wise, did my hour of hockey. I haven't added up my calories yet since my light beer and popcorn, but they should be in at around 1K. Sammich, apple, salad, pickles, for lunch, and frozen meal and wee apple dessert for dinner. I will probably eat something else to bring it up to 1200.

Skinny dreams everyone!

I may still add some red streamers on the back if I have enough red after making the bows...to help offset the pearl sreamers. They sort of blend in.

Off to try to make dinner!

Oh how purdy!

I love her poses! What a cutie bug!!!! Yes a little red would also be pretty. Hope you post pics of her in her whole ensemble on wedding day!

Please tell her for us that the Peeps think she's gorgeous!!!!! princess:

Any other suggestions for my "vacation eating manifesto?"
Split treats when possible! You get to enjoy without going crazy. And it really is okay to throw food away! If no one wants to share - eat half. It feels sinful, but it is much better for you!

I must be crazy!! About a month ago I decided to drive down to my parents by myself with the kids. It's almost a 12 hour drive!!! I'm leaving about 5 a.m. tomorrow and now that it's so close I'm wondering what in t;he world I've gotten myself into.
You'll be fine - it will be great! Enjoy the baby-holding. And have fun with the Utah ladies!

Katie (my little sis) graduated on Saturday from HS and the parents are sending her and a friend to the city for a graduation gift/trip. It's sort of traditional around here to go to Ocean City, MD for a week when you grad from HS, BUT there is lots of drinking, partying, etc. Thus, the parents said "heck no, you won't go." In order to make it up to her, they are sending her to NY for a few days to see some shows -- I'm the "chaperone." I don't plan to be too in their face -- I'll probably even send them off shopping by themselves for awhile. We're going tues, wed, thurs. We're taking a bus out of Baltimore to Manhattan (drops you off and picks you up right in midtown) and staying at the Marriott (I'm not paying, so whatever) on Broadway. Apparently we are seeing three shows: Phantom, Legally Blonde (who knew it was a musical too), and Mamma Mia. Thursday we're going up to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, then walking through Central Park (at lunch time, so it should be safe), then having tea at Tavern on the Green (my grad gift to Kate). Then we rush back to Rockefellar Center to catch the bus back home... should be fun, but I'm betting I'll be exhausted -- they are 17, I'm not -- they are dancers, I'm not -- they are up all nighters, I'm not -- you get the picture. However I am SO looking forward to spending time at the Met, I've always wanted to go. Plus the shows and when else am I going to get the chance to stay at the Marriot??
Congrats to your sis! Sounds like a great trip! Have fun!

OMG, peeps.....wonder woman did me in today! she changed up our wednesday morning workout since only myself and one other girl showed up for class today. she wanted to try something new and figured it would be easier with less people.
Wow! Great work!

Hey. I came across this thread via your TR (great btw). I have been trying to get into better shape for my July trip. I have recently started the Hip Hop Abs program and love it! I went down a whole pant size after 5 sessions. Great workout for entire body. Your strength training workout seemed brutal. Hope you get great results.
Welcome!

Wishing you all a great day tomorrow!

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!

Still behind here on the DIS but trying desperately to keep up with you guys! Question....where are some of the old peeps?? Sandy? Stacey? Harley? Dis? Come out people!

PUNKIN
....I would never look like Wonder Woman either! She is well proportioned which I am not. Nice to have her for help and inspiration. You are very lucky!

FIDGE.....

WINKERS, MISTY, WENDY....Post some pictures of the Utah meet!
Plus the shows and when else am I going to get the chance to stay at the Marriot??
That sounds like such a fun trip! I stayed at the Marriott Marquis with a great view of Times Square last time I went to NYC. Is that where you're staying? My neighbor saw Legally Blonde 2 weeks ago and said it was GREAT! The star (Laura Bundy) is a girl from our town. If I ever decide to go to NYC, I will want more info on the bus from Baltimore. I can drive to Baltimore but would NEVER want to drive in Manhattan!
Anyway, I wanted to let you all know why I haven't been around as much.
You're a busy girl! I feel the same though....not around much the last coupla weeks. Take care.
My grey hairs started early too... at 17!!
Lotsa gray here too. I have consulted my colorist (Utahmama) and gotten her advice but my box-o-color is still in the closet. Maybe I'll post a picture after I color.
Hey. I came across this thread via your TR (great btw).
:welcome: Abordelon! Punkin's right....great accountability here. Enjoy!

The headpieces are fabulous! And the model...ADORABLE! Love the poses! That is exactly what my DD would have done at that age!
I've already decided it would be a good day to try Slim-fast breakfast and lunch. Lets hope dinner and snacking work out alright for me <fingers crossed>...
For me it's so much easier not to snack when I'm at home BUT besides the constant temptation, the routine of the work day does help me eat better. Here's something I post every once and a while when we have newbies. It's from caloriequeens.com. Enjoy!

Learning to live with food, not without food.
The hardest part about our sensible approach to weight loss is convincing people that it works. When we tell people that we've lost three hundred pounds eating fabulous food, they simply can't believe it. For most of us, trying to lose weight has always been associated with feeling deeply deprived while eating horrid food. But we'd "been there, done that" with the deprivation and horrid food. A lifetime of "yo-yo" dieting is how we got to be so fat!

Most of us with weight problems no longer have any idea what it takes to support a healthy weight. We're always either dieting or planning to diet. And when we're planning to diet, we're EATING! How do you lose weight and keep it off? You have to stop dieting, stop planning to diet, and start learning to eat correctly. How do you begin?

Choose a reasonable goal weight. Calculate your daily caloric intake using the following formula:
Female: Goal weight in pounds X 12 calories/pound = Daily caloric intake
Male: Goal weight in pounds X 14 calories/pound = Daily caloric intake.

Start eating a well-balanced diet that contains this number of calories.

After a few days, take a good, hard look at how you're doing. If you're not happy with the amount of food that maintains your goal weight, you have two choices: you can either start exercising or you can decide to weigh more. If you lose weight by eating less food than you're willing to subsist on forever, you're wasting your time. As soon you start eating more calories, you'll start gaining weight.

If you lose weight by "practicing" to maintain the weight you wish to achieve, you'll know how to sustain it when you get there. And we're living proof that it's possible.

HAVE A GREAT DAY, EVERYONE!

Good morning!!

Melinda have you heard from your DD?? I hope that she is having a blast.
Just fly by posting this morning.

Have a good one.

Morning Peeps! :sunny:

It is a beautiful day here -- sunny and warmish, but not hot! (Perhaps my sunny outlook is magnified knowing that I don't have to be back in the office for 10 days when I leave here this afternoon!! I believe that gets a Whoo Hooty!!

Split treats when possible! You get to enjoy without going crazy. And it really is okay to throw food away! If no one wants to share - eat half. It feels sinful, but it is much better for you!

Great idea. I'm adding that one to the list! I am absolutely certain that my sister (and her size 2 hips) will have at least one piece of cheesecake next week... perhaps I'll steal a bite! Thanks...

GOOD MORNING, EVERYONE!

I think it's going to be a blast! We are staying at the Marquis and I am hoping for a view of Times Square. Made the ressies through broadway.com (got theatre tickets through them as well -- small handling fee, but WOW they got us great seats!!), so I don't know where we'll be. I'm a Marriott rewards member (travel quite a bit for work), so I'm hoping for a decent up grade when we get there.

The bus is a bit more expensive than driving or driving upto NJ and taking a train in, but it's CONVENIENT. They go up and back once a day -- pick-up is at a bunch of locations around the Balt beltway early in the morning. You get up there around 11 and they drop off at the Marquis and at Rockefellar Center. The bus leaves everyday at 6 or 6:30 depending on the day of the week from Rockefellar Center. It's $55 a seat and you reserve a seat for the day you go and the day you return -- so if you go up and back in a day it's $55, but if you go up one day and return another it costs $110. Not cheap, but easy and safe. They also provide breakfast in the morning and a movie on the way home. Anybody needs the info, just PM me and I'll send you their website.

Welp! ;) That is a lot of stress, but you made it through the worst.

There's lots of time to undo any damage. You can do it! Get a bunch of healthier options... NOT that a chocolate rice cake will help at all when there's cinnamon rolls, you are human after all. But maybe it'll help a little or a lot?

That is a good idea, to go to the gym. You'll feel so much better! (I was just talking to myself as well :rolleyes1 )

 to you!!! Be good to yourself today!

Hi everyone..not been so good here either.I am going to the gym tonight so maybe that is the push I need to eat better.I hate to ruin a good workout by eating badly.

hey ya'll!!! dismom sent me a note that someone was looking for a Harley shirt...you can go to www.harleydavidson.com and look for "motorclothes" under the apparell and accessories tab, our it might be easier to click "locate a dealer" and type in teh city you are near and get the address/phone/website etc. most dealers will ship you a tshirt if you call and ask them...just ask for the motorclothes dept. :thumbsup2

i'll try to catch up tonite, doin a stealth post!

How is your DD recovering? I hope she is doing well.

By 11 it will be only 87 outside but the real feel is going to be 101:scared1: No wonder my workers are leaving everyday by noon. I don't blame them a bit--it takes forever to get over working in the heat.

Thanks for asking about Ray...she is doing much better but she kepps waking at night and screaming for at least an hour.:sad2:

Good morning Peeps! I hope everyone has a great pre-weigh in day!! I gained back the pd. I lost yesterday. I figured I would with AF. Oh well. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Single digits baby!!!! I can't believe I only have 8 days left after today!! :cool1: :woohoo: :cheer2: I am also on a half day at work so I should be out of here by 1.

Melinda-I was wondering where everyone has been as well. :confused3

Hi peeps. I was a bad girl last night. It was DH's b-day and we went out to dinner....late too. I didnt even finish until close to 10! And then we had cake :sad2: I hate when I do that. For some reason it makes me wake up starving when I eat late at night. I am trying to climb backon the wagon today though. I plan to get out of the house to the pool soon, and that should help alot.

On another note....does anyone know of a good place to order jewlery online, specifically wedding bands for men? I need to replace DH's wedding band and am having a heck of a time finding something he wants that is a good deal. His original band has 3 tiny diamonds on it and one of them is sunken into the setting...it looks like it is missing. It has been that way for a long time, and the jeweler said it would cost more to fix it than to replace it. :sad1: So we are hunting for a new ring, which I am not thrilled about because I am a sentimental fool. BUT, it does look pretty tacky the way it is. Anyways, he wants a 2 tone band, preferably titanium or tungsten metal with a gold inlay stripe in it if that makes sense. We decided no stones this time. Apparently he is pretty rough on his jewlery so we want to stick with a band made from a strong metal. Any ideas on where to look? I hate going to traditional jewlery stores. I feel like the mark up is ridiculous.
