Me & Shadow, the 114 lb. shelter dog we adopted yesterday.

DENE!!! WOW!!! You look amazing!!

OMG!!! DENE!!! You are amazing!!! You are my inspiration. I have been playing around at this loosing weight thing. Some days I'm good and well. . . somedays I'm not but YOU WOW!!! You have worked so hard and I can see where it is worth it.

I went to buy a new top to take with me on vacation- and lets just say- I didnt get a new top. I left the mall throughly disgusted. I have never in my life not been able to find something that looked good on me but it happened yesterday. I found a lot of cute stuff- I just looked STUFFED in it- oh and in case anyone is wondering- if you are round in the middle- boxed pleated clothing is not a wise choice- my pleats looked de-pleated- oh, peeps- I'm so sad:sad1:

So thank you Dene for giving me the motivation and the courage to know that I CAN DO THIS !!!

 cheer up.....i'm sure you can do it if you put your mind to it! (do i sound like an annoying cheerleader or what???) maybe that trip to the mall was the kickstart that you needed. i know when i couldn't get into my favorite dress pants anymore, that's what made me decide it was time to do something about it! we're all here for you!!!!

Dene, I also wept at your beautiful metamorphosis. I showed DH, and he said how great you look and how wonderful for your body, too. He also said you should carry Shadow around a little if you want to remember what that weight felt like. And Hooray for pound puppies! We got our kitty at the pound, and I just wanted to take everyone home. So sweet.

HAPPY FIRST OF JULY!
My legs are covered with spider veins from 6 years of waiting tables. Let me know how it goes if you get the laser thingy.
Another movie that DD13 and I have watched many times is Ella Enchanted. It's a fairy tale about a girl who, when she is born, is given a "gift" of obedience by her fairy godmother. Unfortunately, she must do whatever she is told and she tells no one about the "gift" which could be disastrous. She sets out on a quest to find the fairy godmother and get her to take the "gift" back. This is a scene from the land of giants where Ella is told to sing and of course she has to obey.
I'm another one with spider veins, but they are almost all on the back of my legs, so at least I don't have to look at them ;)

I love Sense and Sensibility, and that's where I developed a crush on Alan Rickman. Even when he plays Snape now, I find him attractive-greasy hair and all! And really, I love anything by Jane Austen. I have to remember to get my Pride & Prejudice with Colin Firth back from my sister.

I also love Twelfth Night. I just DVR'd it, but haven't had the chance to watch it again. The girl has to disguise herself as a boy (what else? It's Shakespeare!) and work as a page, and she falls for the man she works for. The scene where she has to help him with his bath is funny and sensuous and charming. Maybe DH and I will watch it tonight. The only bad thing is the DVR is in the living room. Maybe we'll send the kids out to a movie ;)

OK Miss Sparkie. It's you and me. I have lots of fun things to do this summer, but I seem to make them all about food, and now I've lost my 10 lb. bling, and I've got to get with the program. Let's do this together and get serious! It helps to know we're not alone.

Last night's dinner, almost as good as pooh: muffins in terms of fiber. 1 c. Hormel vegetarian chili, 210 calories, 11 g. of fiber and 1 g. of fat, and a microwaved sweet potato, 54 calories, 2 g. of fiber, 0 fat. Yummy, filling, and mystical poop!

Sparkie....

Lynda....DD said you left a comment on her myspace yesterday. Yes! She has lots more photos but we haven't worked out the external hard drive thing yet so she can't upload them all.

Here's a present I hijacked for ya......

Oh man, that's right. Are you watching the Best Buy ads on Sundays? What I saw were great! I want to go to Europe more now than ever! And thanks for the Stitch! ;)

Melinda, you should have your daughter give us a little mini trip report! And I wanna see some pictures!

i have a weird question for you guys. i know that i've heard some of you mention that you have IBS (as i'm pretty sure i do - never been formally diagnosed, but i have all the symptoms and everything i read about it describes my digestive system to a T). i've also heard a few of you refer to your OCD. i've been diagnosed as having slight OCD. my therapist wanted to put me on meds, but i refused because i didn't want to numb the problem, but wanted to learn how to deal with it. that was 6 years ago and i think i've finally learned how to use it to my advantage without driving DH crazy! anyway, my sister said that she'd heard that the two were linked, that a good percentage of people who have IBS are also OCD. has anyone else heard this?

There is nothing like--I have felt the baby since week 18, but it was only recently when the kids could tell as well.

Oh My Gosh!!! You are my long lost twin. DH has always picked on me b/c these are my all time fav. movies. I just love them. THe baby in the corner is the best line from Dirty Dancing. I love the line from Goonies--Troy was such a jerk. My DS's favorite part of Goonies is when Chunk goes to Mikey's house and Mouth won't let him in without doing the Truffle Shuffle---all you hear at the end is his gut!! I guess a 10-12 year old boy would find that funny. My DH did not even know what Goonies was until I made him watch it.

I also love when Chunk is describing the chase scene and they refuse to believe him and say "Like the time Michael Jackson came over to your house to use the bathroom?" And Chunk says "Ok, he didn't.... but his sister did" I don't know why but I crack up in anticipatin of that! Well, that and Data's "FIFTY DOLLA BILLS!" :happytv:

You are such an inspiration! And your are a little angel to your new dog! What's his name? I am a dog lover!

This was very interesting to me so I did a quick google search and got an article from WebMD about links between OCD and other disorders... and I found this:
"Well, there certainly is an important link between the stomach and the mind. Research has found that as many as 90% of those with IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) also present some psychiatric issue such as anxiety, depression, or OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder)."
It was only in the description through on Google because when I clicked it was a dead link- so I am not sure how reliable it is.

Okay, and to my weekend!
First of all I saw Ocean's 13 last night. My DBF and I loooved summer movies so just to give you a roundup... here are the movies I have seen in the last month (figured it would be a good times with all the movie posts) and what I thought of them!
SpiderMan 3- I would guess that if you LOVE LOVE LOVE Spiderman and read all the comics and were really into it, this would disappoint. However, it was a nice comic based action flick and I found it entertaining and at par with the rest of the Spidey movies- which I have always liked. I thought it was a fun movie to start the summer!
Shrek 3- The 2nd one was just as funny, and maybe even actually much funnier than the first, not so much this time. I never laughed as hard as I did in the other two but I was happy to get another dose of Shrek!
Live Free or Die Hard- Again, my boyfriend who is a HUGE Die Hard fan, was really very disappointed but I love Bruce Willis, thought Justin Long was a funny addition and took it for what it was. It entertained me to say the least but in the end, again, was in no way better than the original trilogy.
Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer- Only saw this one because the kids I Nanny for really wanted to. I love the Human Torch in the original and think Jessica Alba was great, but just didn't have that much fun. I thought it was full of mediocre special effect and very commercial, including a horrible Dodge plug at the unvieling of there ship! Plus the Silver Surfer's voice was Laurence Fishbourne which didn't fit for me.
Ocean's 13- The best of the threequels and sequels! My fav movie of the summer yet. Probably the only of all these movies that I would actually buy on DVD- except possibly the Die Hard. I love these movies and even though there was no love interest in this one the plot was just as much fun and exciting! I love how they make crime seem so glam! lol!
In order here is where I rank my summer movies so far:
1. Ocean's 13
2. Live Free or Die Hard
3. SpiderMan 3
4. Shrek 3
5. Fantastic Four

And, enough with movies..........
Here is a little Preview of my Pre-Trip report. I posted this up today, and thought I would share most of it with you guys so you could see some of the pics I promised to post! I went to the city with my sister and her sister-in-law yesterdya morning! And detailed everything from our trip since we visited the World of Disney store!

Now, being that we are all DISers, I am sure everyone on my thread has or soon will visit the World of Disney Store in Downtown Disney. Imagine, if that store had 3 LEVELS and all the Disney Magic and Disney merch as if you were in Disney World... where can you find all this??? Well, where else but New York City!

WODfront.jpg

Of course, since my sister has a 2 month old at home we headed right for the baby girl section when we came in...
WODcinderella.jpg
It was here that I got myself some Minnie Mouse ears to bring for our WDW trip. Quick question for all- is the blue minnie bow just minnie dressed up as Cinderella or YOAMD Minnie? We couldn't figure it out! My sister picked up a little pink frilly dress for her baby Isabelle that says "New York Disney Princess"! It was so cute!

Once you made it through the NYC themed stuff (I also picked up a Minnie Mouse dressed as the Statue of Liberty beanie) we head upstairs... and even though we took the stairs- check out the elevator!
WODelevator.jpg

Even though it was hard to resist- I managed to leave all the authentic WDW merch and candy and food from the second floor alone! I only have 3 weeks until I get there after all!
WODupstore.jpg

The top floor was all this great Disney artwork.. and even though I would usually take more pictures I settled for me, Pongo and evil Cruella! 101 Dalmatians has a particularly special place in my heart. My first dog was a Dalmatian, her name was Dottie and she was a little smaller than a usual Dalmatian because she had been a runt. I loved her so much. She was my very best friend and we had to put her to sleep last November so I jumped on the chance to get a pic with Pongo!
WODdalmatian.jpg

After we left World of Disney and I resisted all the WDW stuff, I cataloged that feeling away in my brain so that 6 months after we return from our vacation when I need a WDW fix I can return for another visit! :goodvibes
We hit a few more stores in Times Square including Toys R Us, Hershey's and M&M World. (I only ate half a lunch today and yesterday to make up for having some kisses, Ms, and kisses!
MMloveNY.jpg

ferriswheel.jpg

And the picture everyone has been waiting for:
nakedcowboy.jpg
So for all of those who have never been to Times Square... the Naked Cowboy is a man who sings basically in the middle of Times Square and wears nothing but his cowboy boots, cowboy hat, and whitie tighties! His hat, guitar, and under-roos all say Naked Cowboy and since it was my brother-in-law's sister's first visit to NYC I told her she had to get a pic. You should see our second pic! He actually grabbed a handful of our butts!

And guess what- 3 weeks from right now I will actually be in the Magic Kingdom!!!! :dance3:
Oh and by the way, my whole Pre Trippie is just as picture filled and fun as this post so come visit! ;)

thanks for the mini-TR! and wow.....that really is a naked cowboy!!!!:lmao:

If I remember correctly, when the naked cowboy first started in TImes Square he was naked other than his guitar. I believe later they made him put on undies...probably after Disney basically purchased most of time square!!!! I would swear I've seen him sans undies...but maybe that just my overactive imagination...:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: ANd of course he's always had his cowboy hat on!:rotfl:

Funny you said that because I thought I saw his with just chaps on in high school... lol... everyone tells me i am crazy though! Im okay with Disney making Naked Cowboy go PG! :lmao:

PS- He had a sign on his guitar that said "Reality Show on YouTube.com"! :scared1:

thanks for the mini trip report, tink!
I love the NY world of Disney store - their art section is beautimous!

I am so hungry! I'm trying to stick with things I should be eating (except for popcorn earlier! eek!), but it's like every hour or so I'm hungry and snacking (even lean protein) is a no no!

I am sitting in a hospital room.... My father-in-law has been having seizures since Friday night so we are here keeping vigil. They still don't really know what is wrong.

Anyhow, this whole weekend is shot as far as the diet goes. We have been sleeping and eating where and when we can.

A small vent coming. We have been bird sitting for my neighbor since Wednesday. Actually they dropped him off Tuesday evening. They were to return sometime this weekend - they weren't sure. We also had to get their mail. No biggie...the bird is a piece of cake to take care of. Well last night around 5 we see that they are home so we figure they will be over soon to pick up the bird and their mail. Nope. So we figure she'll come over this morning. Nope. They were in and out all day and we have been home most of the day. It is almost 8 and the stupid bird is still here! Now I don't really mind that its here because half the time I forgot he was here anyway. The annoying part is that they have been home for over 24 hours and still have not come over or even called to see when to come over. Ugh.

Oh well. There are worse things that could happen. But I still think its rude.

Kat how exhausting that must be - mentally and physically draining - you are in my thoughts and prayers!! :grouphug: Thank you for taking the time to let us know to add you to our prayers!! :grouphug:

Shannon that is rude! thank you for taking care of the bird!!

MEL OMG :rotfl2: Just what people need a great big laugh from the man that has his "cowboy hat" on!! :rotfl2:

BIG BROTHER FANS!! I know you dont need another message board... :rolleyes1 but if you do, please join me at tvch.com!! In the meantime, anyone who ever has watched you must MUST MUST get a GREAT BIG LAUGH out loud at some extremely CREATIVE writing - its hilarous!! No joke - so even if you dont plan on watching - take my word and read what she posted about the bios of the houseguests (no spoilers promise - just hilarity!!)
http://www.bitobunny.com/98832.html she has pictures of them from myspace, and one of the girls would love naked cowboy - she is on a bull riding machine, and she is barely clothed!! :rotfl2:

Here's a bit of her humor! Conservative real estate agent Kail is also in the house. She owns a country store and a down-home-cookin' restaurant in a small town in Oregon. Her favorite singer is Cher. I hate to be the one to tell her, but after this show, the song "If I Could Turn Back Time" will have a whole new meaning.

Her motto at work is "Sail With Kail." Which certainly beats mine in high school: "Tail for Ale."

Last and most certainly least is Jen. I say that because she's an actress slash model slash "My closet is full of pageant gowns." I shouldn't judge a book by her b*** cover, especially since it was pointed out to me that she was a contestant on "Wheel of Fortune." I think she finally got the puzzle "WHO'S A B-_-M-B-O?" after she asked for an "i," but she got it nonetheless.

(her site isnt a message board, she posts her take on the show, or on the live feeds!! with humor and grace!!)
